Up and off to irk.
FCM: Magic cookie bars! They’re always a good option. Or brownies. Everyone loves brownies.
Poor Cinny.
Good luck to Culinary Boy. Hope that works out.
Sorry to hear about the stair problems, rosie. Aren’t schools all supposed to be completely handicap accessible??
I made the second loaf of a friend’s recipe for red-bean-paste-filled brioche, and this time I got it right. It is sooooooooooo good.
poor Cinny.
Friday. Yay.
zzzzzz…
Home from irk!!! It’s Firday!!! YAY!!! Weekend!!! Catfish tonight!!! Exclamation points gone wild!!!
Sorry about Cinny, Picu, that sucks.
While I’m on the subject of suckage, The VA doth suck mightyly as well, Spaz.
I hate January.
Home, exhausted, and somewhat pissed off. I was reading an article in the Fredericksburg paper about the school where my daughter teaches. It was built in 3 sections, one in the 50s, one in the 70s and one in the 80s. They’ve got heating, electrical, plumbing, and space issues. Plus the two newer schools in the county get all the new equipment, and Potomac gets their hand-me-downs. Despite this, they still manage to get the highest scores of the 3 elementary schools.
Anyway, the article was saying how there’s no money to repair Potomac, then went on to talk about the THREE FREEKIN’ MILLION DOLLARS about to be spent on a football stadium for the high school. There is a place for the team to play, but it’s not a stadium, so apparently it’s not good enough. So screw the elementary school where they didn’t have any heat earlier this week…
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!
Meanwhile, we, and daughter, have spent hundreds of dollars of our own money for equipment and supplies for her classroom.
That’s all for now. Back to making my bean soup. I just had to get it out of my system.
Stoopit school board.
{{{picu & Cinny & Co.}}}
Right now it looks like Culinary Boy won’t be going back this semester. He’s looking for work–his best bet is wiring the new Harrah’s down in Indiantown which is an hour and some change away. He knows a guy. Tonight, though, we’re going to cash in a gift certificate I got for Tupelo Honey. We made a reservation.
In other news that is not news, it’s snowing again. Fortunately I’m not the one who has to deal with The Troll & Her Snow Phobia in the morning. That joy is reserved for the poor saps down the street and up the hill from us.
Hugs to picu, Cinny and family. How sad. My grandmother had a dachshund for quite a while. She was the best dog ever.
Your daughter’s school district has its priorities very screwed up, FCM. Sorry to hear that.
I agree with the recommendation of brownies, BTW.
Sounds like the home warranty really paid off, mmmmmmmmmmm.
Thanks for the hugs, everyone.
It is snowing here as well. We got 2 inches yesterday and you’d have thought it was a blizzard. Traffic leaving downtown was practically at a standstill for a really long time. I heard many people today saying that it took them twice as long as usual to get home. I think the issue was that it was just close enough to freezing that there were slick spots that made people extra-cautious.
Am home alone for a while (brother won’t be bringing nephew back for a few hours.
What to do???
Hugs.
GT
MOOOOOM that is major messed up. It just is.
We’re back at da cave from eatin’ catfish. NUM! I said to OYKW maybe we shouldn’t get the fried dill pickles cause it’s a lot o’ food. He agreed. So, when our waiter came to take our orders he said, “We’ll start with an order of fried dill pickles.” :dubious: I asked him why he did that. He said the menu was tauntin’ him. So, we’s stuffded!
Especially magic brownies?
mmmm - my bean soup is muy yummo!!
and I’ve decided tomorrow’s dessert choice will be made at McKay’s bakery section after I get my car washed.
I am glad it’s Friday and that Mr. Lissar is home and that I get to sleep soon. And maybe watch some of the Brideshead Revisited DVDs I got for Christmas.
I too had catfish tonight. I’ve been craving it ever since Bobbio’s story of his last day in the Mayberry VFD. It came with a pickled okra, which I wasn’t sure about at first. I believe I do like pickled okra, but I’ll have to have another to be sure. Later. I’m stuffed up to the top.
Culinary Boy had mahi mahi. Both of our fishies came on a bed of cheese grits. I’m going to go downstairs soon and slap the bag of grits in my pantry for not tasting like that.
Maaaan. Someone on my Facebook commented about someone I went to school with, so I ended up hopping around profiles and seeing what peeps have been up to. It’s like my life split off in Grade 11 - that year I decided to go to a high school with none of the people I had gone to school with up until that point. It was one of the best choices I have ever made. I wouldn’t socialize with 75% of the people that I knew before then. It’s the same social circles, the same BS going on. It’s like all of those people were from a time in my life that I don’t acknowledge anymore. So many of them have fallen into this trap of staying where we came from and having crappy jobs and just not moving forward.
I haven’t done anything spectacular with my life or anything, but I’ve packed up and left that time and the person I was behind. I broke out of the circle of these people when I became an adult and never looked back until now. laughs
I slept right through irk! Well, I woke up long enough to call in, then slept 7 more hours.
Yay! It’s Caturday! We are off to London today, going to see Cirque du Soleil’s “Totem” show tonight.
Last night we realised that the limes in the kitchen were past their best and wouldn’t last much longer. The only sensible thing to do was make margaritas, right?
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN Soon I shall have to go and make brekkies. Pancackes, bacon and scrambled aigs is the requested bday brekkie. Thus I have griddle settin’ out on the counter to make pancakes. Birthday boy is still snoozin’ away but the smell of bacon fryin’ (while I am fully clothed thankyouverymuch!) will arouse him.
BooFae makin’ margaritas was the only sensible thing to do. We can’t let citrus go to waste now can we? Have fun at Cirque du Soleil!
kushy I am fb friends with some of my high school classmates. I have had some friend requests that I ignored. If we weren’t friends then, why would I want to be now.
Spaz what I do with grits is add extra sharp grated cheddar cheese after cookin’. Some say add the cheese durin’ cook time but I like the way the cheese gets all melty and gooey as I stir it into a bowl of grits. It entertains me.
Ok, guess I should go get brekkies started.
Later Y’all!
Up, caffeinated, iff to irk. Laundry tonight.
Happy birthday to OYKW! (Forgot that yesterday.)
I applaud your decision-making abilities, BooFae! Have fun at Cirque!
Need to get up as I have to be at my friend’s at 9:00 so that her hubby can go grocery shopping (she had surgery this week and someone needs to be in the house just in case).
Up and at 'em!
GT
Brekkies consumed and purtification in process. Ok, I’m purtified and waitin’ on OYKW to purtify. Then, we’re goin’ to  Wally*World  to use gift cards. Betwixt the two of us we have a hunnert dollars worth of gift card to use so off we go to purchase stuff like socks, underwear and various sundries. Yeah, we like to spend 'em on frivolous things.
