A Tale (Tail?) of Two Dogs - the MMP

Good morning all! Well, we awakened this morning to snow fall - not much, fortunately. And it is Brrr! cold outside. I am caffeinated (reminder: do not EVER get pumpkin spice flavored coffee ever again - it is -way- too pumpkin-spicy! LOL) and will shortly do a quick & dirty grocery store run. Just to pick up a few things…

Plans for today include making a big pan of spinach lasagna, with mushrooms in it also. Last night I placed an order online at Barnes & Noble; a co-worker gave me a gift card, so I was able to get -four- books and got free shipping too. I am a happy camper, or will be when the order gets here. B&N has a bargain book section, with some books as low as $1.99; I made most of my selections from the $3.99/book section, but I did splurge and got a copy of the book that the HBO series “Boardwalk Empire” is based on. Can’t wait to read that … although it may spoiler me for next season!

Picu, so sorry about little Cinny; little weiner dogs are so cute. Rosie, you must have needed that rest! I hope you’re feeling better today. I hope you have a great time at the Cirque du Soliel programme, BooFae! Mmmms, glad that you got your suitcases back, even if they were so beaten up. LiLi, I -love- your stuffed Septimus! And little TomKitten is just such a cutie–can’t believe he’s almost walking now! Ha, and glad to hear that Nat is okay with the stevia–as long as it’s sweet, eh? And FCM, I hope you’re feeling some better today - and you’re right, the daughter’s school system has their priorities backwards!

Okay…I’ve got a thread up in the Game Room, about connecting to some of the games on Facebook - for my friends and neighbors there, I’m not ignoring you, but I just can’t get the games to load for me!! I’ve had this problem for some time, but it’s gotten worse recently. sighs I hope it can be fixed.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend.

I got kicked out of work after three hours today. Not because of the weather, everyone there knows that I scoff at ice and know how to drive in it. It was because we were so.freaking.slow. today and I’m off the next two days. When I left GM and Detailed were discussing whether or not they should call in Weekend Lady soon because the Snowpocalypse is once again upon us.

We’re having the room carpets replaced this month. The guy in charge of the carpet replacin’ team’s wife died last month of cancer. As I came in this morning I saw him barrelling out of the parking lot way too fast for conditions in a Scion. I saw his BIL later on and he said that head guy’s father died last night. :frowning: I hope he makes it to Tennessee all right, it’s supposed to be really bad up that way.

Up and to quote herbs I have already made a “quick and dirty grocery store run”. Supper tonight is Butternut squash soup and I needed a couple things for it.

I have now brekkied and inhaled my latte and now must get to doing chores!

How does one make a run to the grocery sto’ dirty? Does one wear a leather bustier, thigh high leather boots and carry a ridin’ crop? :stuck_out_tongue:

I survived  Wally*World  and we both have new socks and underwear. Plus I got some grocery items. Then both of us needed a nap when we got back to da cave.

I has N.O.T. soup simmerin’ on the stove. It shall be lunch tomorrow. Actually it’s ham, N.O.T., carrots, celery, onion soup but I call it N.O.T. soup. Shortly we must purtify for tonight’s soiree.

I just watched the very first episode of Married With Children. I was amused at how young Ed O’Neil looked. Of course that bein’ about 25 years ago, he should look younger than he does today on Modern Family, a show that highly amuses me. MWC also amused me muchly.

One of the reasons I popped in today was to comment on the nekkid frying of burly butcher bacon. Wasn’t it a year ago that ahem someone alluded to this the first time?

The second reason was to say that today is my youngest child’s birthday is today. Yes, my baby is 18. sob

Also, my Kodiak “family” (best friends) are coming up from Oregon to spend a few days. They left both the island and then the state before I did, so I am very excited at the prospect of having all three generations under my roof; My BFF, her daughter and son-in-law (whom I married!) and their two boys, and my youngest pommie’s litter brother! Good times will be had by all!

Oh! And the moment that gave me the best laugh this week is that my ex asked my son-in-law if we were okay, as he hasn’t seen any of us, and he hasn’t heard the dogs!!! Talk about needing a clue by four, we have been gone a month!

Be safe and healthy, I am lurking but getting closer to posting more regularly. I know, I say this a lot, but this time I mean it. I need to show y’all my new house, maybe I will volunteer an OP in the near future.

Finally on line. **FCD **and I slugged in bed this morning - he mostly slept and I mostly watched TV, occasionally dozing. We were both pretty tired. Then we went to breakfast, ran an errand, then killed an hour before going to my sister’s. We just got back.

My nephew didn’t say a word to me the entire visit, including not thanking me for the afghan I knitted for him. That boy is an ass. His sister mentioned that she liked her afghan after I was talking to my mom about one I was making for her AARP group. Glad she liked it, but she still didn’t thank me. My sister’s kids have no manners. I’m thinking this is the last year they get gifts from us. Besides, they’re adults - that’s the cutoff in my book.

I did something stupid to my back, but I’m not sure what. I was standing up after using the throne, and I suddenly had this weird sharp, radiating pain at the base of my spine spreading across my lower back. I could barely stand up! It was more a nerve than muscular thing, but doggone, it hurt. I’ve snarfed down some ibuprofen, and I’m able to mostly move normally.

Getting old sucks.

I’m thinking it’ll be an early night tonight.

**kush **- I’m only in touch with 3 former highschool classmates - none of them have ever left the area where they grew up - one is still living in her childhood home - she inherited it since her folks died. Beyond them, I can’t think of any I’d ever wondered about. I outgrew them about a week after I enlisted in the Navy.

swampy, my sweetie loves MWC - he’s watching it right now, in fact. Classic TV!!

**wiki **- does it make you all warm and fuzzy that you were missed???

Hi! We just got back from our second grocery store in two days, getting ready for Snowpocalypse. It’s expected that we’re going to take a hit tomorrow, but we don’t know what’s going to hit. It could be freezing rain, sleet, snow, hail, locusts, frogs, anything. We got stuff last night for if we have electricity, and today for if we don’t.

Daughter has plenty of insulin, test strips, batteries and pump parts. Everybody has enough medicine to get through. We even have water. Now to sit back and see what happens.

Welcome to the world of herniated/bulging disks, hon. I’ve been there, and whined about it here. Recently.

How much snow are you expecting?

Back from Costcovia. Hadn’t gone in two months.

Yikes. Huge bill!! But now we are stocked!

Gonna make pumpkin bread tomorrow!

Only in a former life…

Anyway…today as been busy with grocery, laundry, Target, cleaning of bathroom, laundry, putting away Christmas decorations, buying hardware for the almost renovated kitchen, laundry etc etc

Now I have the squash roasting in the oven ready to make some soup for supper. We were contemplating going to the movies but decided against it. Lazy night methinks

Been busy all day, slept late, ran around scouting replacement halls for BusKid’s wedding (the place she had booked shut their doors last week, thankfully she has ten months to worry about it, but she’s 700 miles away so me, the wife and one of the bridesmaids checked out a couple places in person for her today, and isn’t this a long parenthetical? Probably it should just be a paragraph of it’s own, but since I started it like this, I’m going to just run with it), then some errands, now home now watching football.

Had kind of a neat night out last night with some friends, just hanging out at a local establishment watching a 70-80’s cover band and enjoying some Guinness.

While we were out this afternoon, I got an e-mail from my mom about that shooting in Tucson.

That was the first I’d heard of it, and she told me about it because it’s the Safeway she goes shopping at every Saturday!! Yeah, it’s about a mile from where she lives, I’ve been there several times myself. She said she just figured she’d go tomorrow after church, so didn’t go today. Yeah, good call mom!

We’s home from partyin’. Yeah, nine p.m. on a Sattidy night and we’re home from partyin’. We’re wild! We noshed, we drank, we scarfed bday cake and ice cream. Then we left. Ok, most everybody was leavin’. We had a good time but it’s nice to be back in da cave.

Annie we could even get a little bit of frozen precip tomorrow night. The description is “ice pellets”. Sounds like what a hamster would poop outside on a very cold night.

wiki I never admitted to nekkid burly butcher bacon fryin’. I adhere to the philosophy one should never fry bacon in the nude. That’s why we have aprons. :stuck_out_tongue:
So, you reckon the ex now realizes you’ve moved?

Sniffle. Achoo. Rubs watery eyes. Achy

Damn.

Yikes MBG! Very good call, MBGmom.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and Caffienatin’. Did I killded the MMP last night?

Today is Annual Parish Meetin’ after church. We elect three new members to the Vestry and here all kinds of reports from church organizations. Envy me gettin’ to hear all this! :stuck_out_tongue: Actually it’s not that bad and usually lasts about an hour. Oh and after that we have a short Vestry meetin’ to elect a new Senior and Junior Warden, which are the two “officers” of the Vestry.

Then I get to eat N.O.T soup!

Big day!

Up and busy already. I’ve got a load of jeans in the washer, and I’ve cleaned cat hork in the kitchen, Cozmo poo in the dining room (how did I miss it last night??) and Scruffy pee in the living room. Things can only get better, right?

I was having a bizarro dream involving a grocery store that wouldn’t check me out, floods, ice storms, losing my spousal unit (not like death, more like he wandered off and I couldn’t find him) trying to get a shower before starting a road trip, packing the car, and something about a dog. I have no idea where any of it came from.

Today’s plans include lots of laundry. We’ve also got to do some pre-cleaning team tidying. Our cleaning sisters will be back tomorrow, so we need to get the excess crap put away so they can dust and vacuum and stuff. And I know in one pile of excess crap are several bills that need to be paid - guess this will motivate me. I’d also like to get a small lamp for this desk, or a light strip to mount under the hutch shelf. Something.

Yep, another exciting FairyChatDay in FairyChatEstates. rah.

Happy Sunday!!

Soapy sorry you’re feelin’ bad. I say your family should wait on you hand and foot.

The weather is now sayin’ we could get a “wintry mix” late tonight and into tomorrow mornin’. One supposes that is worse than “ice pellets”. Anywho, accordin’ to TPTB locally, sand trucks are on standby to spread sand on bridges and roadways where ice may occur. Nice of ‘em I say. The worse thing I have to worry about is an overpass bridge that’s built up so it’s uphill, over the bridge, then downhill on the major road that leads from where I am into downtown Albeeeny. We shall see. Should make for an interestin’ ride to irk tomorrow.

Now, I need to feed rumbly tummy which means brekkie makin’. I’m thinkin’ it’ll be a cereal, milk and toast kind of brekkie as I don’t wanna cook this mornin’. Then purtification for deheathenization etc must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Good morning all! I’m up and have sufficiently caffeinated, I think. laughs I’m trying out a different brand of coffee this morning, so different I can’t remember the name! Tastes pretty good, thankfully.

Sending healing thoughts your way, Soapy. Sorry for the messes, Mooooommm, and thanks for the chuckle re your dreamage. Swampy, are you up for one of those warden positions this year?! Good luck to you, if you are!

Well, the spinach lasagna turned out well, so it’s on to beef stew today. We shall be prepared for any inclement weather that might come our way. Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday–back to work tomorrow, at least for most of us.

Herbs I got elected to a three year term of duty on the Vestry last year. I am glad to serve on the Vestry and deal with the mundane and not so mundane bidness of the Parish but I have absolutely no interest in being either Senior or Junior Warden. Our current Senior Warden is still servin’ on the Vestry and thus is eligible for re-election to Senior Warden. I say it shall be him cause he’s done a great job. Our Junior Warden is rotating off the Vestry as her three year term is up so we need a brand spankin’ new JW. I have my eye on somebody and shall be more than happy to nominate her to the position. I believe she’s open to takin’ it on, thus makin’ me more than happy to see that it happens. I’m all nice like that.

ETA: I should have said provided she is elected to the Vestry today which I don’t foresee as a problem at all.

Yikes. Huge bill!! But now we are stocked!

We’re expecting 1-3 inches of snow and an inch of ice. For down here, that’s nasty.

I just spent the last 2 hours web searching for houses, apartments, and condos for rent in Mooooooom’s back yard, and I’m depressed. It’s tough finding a place that takes pets.
