My bro the accountant is going to help me figure out our taxes - specifically one part that makes no sense because the instructions were written by a thousand drunken monkeys on a thousand mis-programmed word processors. I’m not even certain the forms I have are the correct ones. But bro will help. That’s how he got to be Prez of the company. He are SMRT!
We’re promised temps close to 70 today!! Its Feb 7!! What’s wrong with this picture?!?!?
My big plans at the office include installing my new screens since no one has showed up to do it for me. Dammit. Then I’ll need to find work to do. At least it’ll be a short week for me. So there’s that.
I did not sleep well, in fact I didn’t sleep much at all so today I has a proper tired blurf. Today is not going too well either, unless you count it a success that all today’s meetings have been cancelled because people are off sick. Of course, that just means they get moved to later in the week…
It’s bright and sunny out there though, that’s a bonus!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 57 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy with a predicted high of 75 and rain/tstorms/apocalypse this afternoon and evenin’. We shall see. I slept well. I pulled an all nighter even. Didn’t get up once to pee. In a little bit I shall peel veggies and get the brisket goin’. This will make da cave smell nummy all day.
flytrap all root veggies are good for roastin’. I’m not a big fan of turnips but I like 'em roasted. Fart blossoms, however, are best when thrown in the trash can.
Nuts have fun!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I need to get goin’ on the brisket and purtify somewhat as well. Today shall be a day in da cave.
it’s still dark out and i think it’s supposed to rain. yep i an hear it, it just started raining. it’s supposed to be in the 60s today, which is better than in the 30s.
for whatever reason my shift key isn’t working so just another annoyance for the day. i’ve been up since 4;30, which is nice since i stayed up until almost 2. the gas company raised my budget billing by 35 dollars, without advance notice. so nice of them.
so i’ve run the dishwasher and paid some bills. i tried to go back to sleep but that isn’t working.
Up at 0603 and started laundry, as I have used the last item of underwear in the drawer. Currently on the second of 3 (possibly 4) loads this morning. Rainy out all this AM, so a good day for it.
Got a notice for my annual eye checkup, debating this as I really don’t have any problem with this prescription and figure I can go another year without problems. But I’ve got the bloody insurance so why not use it…
Nava, thanks for the update on Nut. Mumper meetup?
Sari, hang in there. My electric has gone up considerably now that I’m in the house all that time I used to be at work letting others pay the electric bills.
MetalMouse might as well get the check up. You never know when little changes sneak in there. Plus they check general eye health.
Which reminds me, I never answered your request about cars. I am going to do so from memory, hopefully I’ll hit at least some of them…
Chevy Traverse (I think) - I have a Suburban now. I am loving it. It’s 10 years old and I am still loving it. Not the same model, but I am happy with the brand.
Dodge Durango - I think others have chimed in with some mechanical advice. I have driven several, due to rentals during extensive business travel. I felt that they were underpowered, but you may be able to get a better equipment package.
Nissan Pathfinder - a good friend had one that he drove until it fell apart (literally). He loved it to pieces. I spent a lot of time in it. My only suggestion would be to test getting into the back seat if you will ever have passengers. I think it’s been updated but getting into his backseat required circus-level contortion skills.
Toyota RAV4 - can’t remember if this was on the list or not. It’s the top rated small SUV. I had one for years that we really liked. My parents just got a new one that they really like.
Ford ?? - I drove several Ford models on multiple occasions, business travel again. I think my only caution here is to do your research and make sure they’ve fixed their Microsoft UI/Interface. Anything over their base model has a MS UI on all of the dials, gauges, radio, temperature controls. It’s a digital world. It freezes and goes black, which can be disconcerting. You have to do a re-boot, which is annoying. Hopefully all fixed now, but I’d check that out thoroughly before going that route.
Kids are off to school. I’m gathering final papers for the bank, and then I’m off to drop those off and to discuss rolling over my 401k. Good times.
My new screens at work necessitated a slight rearrangement of my desk, and I like it better. More usable space. So yay!

FCD **came by and dropped off some tools for me to use. They should be handy, tho I don’t know why he has a knife in there… :dubious: At least now I don’t have to go borrowing screwdrivers.
Lunch! And after work I need to run by WalMart. ugh, but necessary. With luck, it’ll be reasonably not-crowded on a Tuesday afternoon. We shall see, shan’t we?
Da cave smells sooooooooooooooooo good right now! I just put the veggies in with the brisket. Dindin is goin’ to be so nummy! I have frozen dough balls (that’s what I call ‘em cause that’s what they look like) thawin’ that shall become rolls. Other than that I have been messin’ about the intartoobz and chillin’ today.
Sunny, much thanks for the car info. I need to make one more deposit in March to the car fund, and then I think I’ll go test driving. Haven’t made any final conclusions, but the Hyundai Santa Fe and the Dodge Durango are in the lead at present.
Four loads of laundry completed, folded/hangered and put away. Only thing between me and lunch is the Norton Security “full” scan I’m running right now.
Looks like the brisket will be done soon. A little earlier than I wanted but it can be kept warm so there’s that. Meanwhile another band of strong storms is most likely headed our way early evenin’. It’s been a kind of bad one with tornados etc so far. Hope it weakens as it moves east. ICK!
So some idiot salesperson decided to play my front door like a timpani and interupt my sleep. I tried to get the business name off the sedan and chew out their supervisor, but they don’t seem to have a website or anything, or my eyes being so bad I didn’t read it correctly. I could of sworn it was Bolveride… Any West Michiganders here know what I talking about?
