I had an eye appointment in the old town this morning. I can drive when it’s overcast or with sunglasses after dilation, but can’t read a monitor for crap for a few hours, hence taking the whole day off. The thread about the Lou Grant series made me curious as to how it held up after all of these years, so I binge watched it this afternoon. I’ll give it an 8 for maintaining relevence.
Well, yes.
I don’t like for unsolicited people to come to my door, awake and annoy my Wife whose service at the Dark, Satanic Mill is at night, causing her to sleep most mornings.
“Dark, Satanic Mill at Night” seems oddly appropriate, but I digress.
Brisket, veggies and rolls have been consumed. I made a pan gravy with the drippin’s. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO goooooooooooood! Plus leftovers for tomorrow. WIN-WIN! In other news, we are gettin’ big tstorms. There’s also been a tornado warnin’ but not for where da cave is. We do not need this again. Rain is OK but the nastiness can just go away.
Got my taxes filed today. I should be getting a chunk of change from the IRS. What adjective applies to said chunk depends on what kind of estimates I get from the fixit shops I call concerning my head gasket.
Thanks for the info about the collar Sunny. I’ll look into it. We have some doggy chews called ‘Quiet Moments’ that Wifey got for the boys last 4th of July.
We gave him one of those with some peanut butter when I got my brain working. Don’t know if it did anything, but he did quiet down about an hour later. For all I know the peanut butter calmed him down.:dubious:
Have no fears. I love the little guy and will stand by him no matter what. I just want him to not be in distress.
Are those the green ones? I always wanted one of those too.
When I was younger.
These days I’d settle for someone to clean the house.
How were the parsnips and turnips Swampy? The last time I did turnips (in oven roasted veggies) they were bitter. Don’t know why. Maybe they were too big? I did something wrong, I’m sure.
Oh, my niece in Atlanta had a new Rav4 when I was there a little over a year ago and it was really nice, for whatever that’s worth. Keep in mind that I drive a 23 year old Suburban. It was pretty upscale in it’s day, but that day is long gone.
Well that was fun. We had a tornado warnin’ and a hyuuuuuuuuuuuuuge tstorm. Everything is fine here at da cave and apparently elsewhere as folks are reportin’ in as ok. Needless to say we are wary of big storms in this area.
Bumba the roasted veggies includin’ the turnips were nummy. I use small turnips. I’m not a big turnip fan but these were good and had a sweet taste. Same with the parsnips. I like the combo radish/carrot taste of parsnips.
Today turned out to be a pretty nice day. i sat on the front porch for a while and then got Sah-son out to suck up some leaves. they were a bit wet but at least he made a dent in them. The neighbor came home while we were out there and gave him $20 for taking care of her yard too. He didn’t want to take it but she insisted and i told him to go ahead.
She says she can hear it when Adam runs up and down the hall, but she says it makes her smile. The only place we can ever really hear each other is in the front hall. i was a little worried the cat might be disturbing her, he sounds like a horse when he runs through the house.
he’s such a dumb ass sometimes. he tried to walk under Sah-dog today and he is too big. He lifted up the dogs hind legs which made the dog spaz out. Really he should have fit under there, all he had to do was slink a little.
my shift key works some of the time.
I made priogies for dinner, just priogies. i’ll make something else later if i get hungry. the kid is on his own. He has a pizza in the freezer, and some* ICK!* pizza rolls. or he can throw some meatballs in a pot with some spaghetti sauce.
glad you made it safely to Spain Nuts
Poor little yorkie Bumba
My dog’s spells are waking up from a sound sleep and running around the house bumping into things, sometimes includes barking or yelping. The vet couldn’t find anything wrong so we just keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn’t hurt himself.
It’s a rainy night in Jawja. Time to retire to the boudoir to watch teevee until sleepy time which may not be long with the sound of the rain on the roof.
Decided to go to Golden Corral about 3PM, no crowd and got the Sr. citizens discount, so stuffed my face for less than $9! Probably get a fizzy drink here in a minute, but really have no interest in eating any more today.
swampy, glad the weather wasn’t too bad. I looked at the NWS radar several hours ago and it looked pretty nasty.
And that’s about all from North Ali-bama tonight. No nappage today, so an early bedtime is probable.
sari, the cat is just demonstrating that he is, after all, a cat.
MS Livein (v.?.?), Ann, deceased, liked a stir fry recipe I found that used turnips.
Appropriately, I do not recall how to make it.
I do like parsnips, and will try them with small turnips in a roast.
Came home from work and am just being contemplative. One of my co-workers died Friday (I found out today) of a heroin overdose; and a whole lot of that is going around here these days. She wasn’t a close friend or anything but she was someone I really enjoyed being with when we got assigned together and she made the place a lot more fun to be in. A ton of us are going to miss her but in her honor we’re trying to joke more than cry; she would hate the thought of making us sad. So we’re trying as best we can.
It’s 1 am and here i am awake. i was so tired and feel asleep around 10ish and woke up around 11;30, wide awake. i tried to get back to sleep, but then the bladder called, and then the dog woke up and needed to go out, and then i saw the back of priogies sitting out on the counter where i left them, so i fried up the rest of them and the kid and i had a midnight snack.
now the cat is driving me crazy wanting treats, because if mom is awake and sitting up then it must be treat time.
