The judge in the Maria Butina case has taken it upon himself to add a public defender to Butina’s legal team. I have seen speculation, but no proof, that the judge did so because he doesn’t think the lawyers already on the case are really looking out for Butina’s interests.
Sounds like a reasonable theory, but I’ll note that the judge’s name is “Tanya Chutkan” so I’m less convinced on your choice of pronoun.

Mueller and SDNY both released their Cohen memos. I’ve only seen snippets on Twitter so far. My initial reaction is, “God damn!” Mueller drops a few Russian collusion bombs, and SDNY joins in with campaign finance bombs.
And we’re still waiting for the Manafort filing.
