A Very Memorable MMP

PLEASE PRAY that it doesn’t rain tomorrow!!! We’re having our graduation drunk-boat celebration bash in the evening. :frowning:

I have a million things to do before then and I also must be up bright and early tomorrow to meet MBG and 'mika so I must scuttle off. Hugs and kisses everyone!

I’m still awake (awake again?) and am struck by “Arizona Pizza.” There’s also Chicago-style pizza, California Pizza Kitchen, and others I’m forgetting. So, why isn’t there Ohio Pizza? Or Michigan or Indiana or West Virginia or Pennsylvania, for that matter?

Have a wonderful MMP-fest in the morning.

I’m off to bed now…really.

GT

Whoa, I almost forgot my camera!

I’m still here, going to bed in a bit. (Why sleep early? I’ll sleep on the plane). Anyway, yes, around 9 AM tomorrow morning.

And Haze, I hope to see you there!

Saturday morning here… first time in a long time we’re in for a really lazy weekend… no day trips, not pirate movies to see (that was last week). No nothing.

Special Teen got back from her field trip yesterday evening, and the male half of the Terrible Twins[sup]TM[/sup] is at a friend’s after having slept over… we seem to be shedding descendants left and right nowadays. Good practice for next year, I guess

**Rosie **-- let me second (sixth?) the “Yay, freedom” sentiment!

MBG, Mika and **Haze **-- Y’all say “hi” to each other from me
**MBG **-- just a hint, as far as I’m concerned you can be the one behind the camera in all the pictures
(Just kidding, wanna see what you look like, too.)

Hey - it’s Saturday morning here too! And, of course, I was up at 5:30 thanks to a feline on my head. And when I conducted bladder drainage ops, it was with an audience of 3. No doubt about it - we don’t have nearly enough animals in this house…

Anyway, dogs have been pottied, all critters have been fed, and I’m gradually caffeinating. In theory, this weekend, we’ll finish putting the house back together - hanging the closet doors in the guest rooms, installing the plugs and moving the furniture back into the blue room, putting away or tossing the rest of the assorted stuff that’s in boxes all over the place. Actually, I’m thinking “Yard Sale” - people around here are crazy to buy other people’s crap, and we’re right off a main state road, so I’m thinking a few tables, a couple of signs, and we might make us some goin’-out-to-dine scratch. Plus it’ll make that much less that I have to drag to Goodwill…

But today is all about finishing my ceramics. I know you’re tired of hearing that - I’m tired of it myself. The show should be worth it, tho. We’ll see when I do the June 11 MMP…

Meanwhile, I want breakfast. Dunno what exactly I want, but I want breakfast. Where the heck is the Breakfast Fairy??

Such a coincidence, we’re experiencing Saturday here too. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve been up for a while, surfing and dozing and remembering to throw a load of laundry in (gotta go to the park today and I need my uniform shirt…). Need to water some stuff and put gardening gear in the car because I may be gardening at church after I go to the park…

Need more caffeine.

GT

It’s Saturday here, but that’s just another work day for me. I’m caffeinating, and I think I’ll turn Rod the Roomba loose in a bit. I hope work doesn’t go too long, I want to catch a little bit of hockey tonight.

I can’t wait to see pictures from the O’Hare Stapled Chicken fest.

Mornin’ Y’all! I too am up and caffienated. Ok, still caffienatin’. Been up a while just messin’ around, readin’ the paper and all that jazz. By sheer coincidence, it’s also Saturday here!

[del]The sky is fallin’[/del] It’s rainy like here. Still just drizzly but with the promise of more later on. YAY! Puggy, Nashii and all you other Flahrdy types, what’s it like down there? Barry dumpin’ rain? Barry, for those not in the know is a tropical storm that is responsible for the rain. Yay Barry! Somebody is still snoozin’ away. Well, either that or there’s a freight train in my bedroom. Poor thing just cannot hold his likker. We did stop after four matirins last night. Four very strong ones. As in, lots of gin and trickle in a drop or two of vermouth. They were good! And… we watched Pleasantville on TVLand last night. Actually I watched whilst ol’ y’all know who snoozed. Dunno what it is about that movie that compels me to watch it.

I’m thinkin’ today is a don’t leave the house day, since it’s supposed to be all rainy and stuff. So I proclaim no shavin’, lounge around in shorts and do nuttin’ to be the agenda. I’ve got some chicken wings thawin’ out to make buffalo wings out of later. I yanked ‘em outta the freezer when I got up cause while makin’ caffiene the urge for buffalo wings struck me. Bein’ as there’s celery and bluecheese dressin’ on hand I decided it must be fate.

Ok, I hear foragin’ in the kitchen which can only mean, it lives!

Later Y’all!

ETA: Y’all have fun at O’Hare Fest! We want pictures!

Morning, all. <yawn> I woke up to a quiet house – the cat was snoring against Papa Tigs’ pillow (which is actually a welcome change from grabbing the middle 75% of my pillow), Alice is still sleeping, and the Idiots and Papa Tigs are nowhere to be seen. So presumably two damp and very, very happy dogs will be coming home shortly from the dog beach. So I’m sitting here caffeinating and wishing I was done with the current Annoying Transcript – 3 women talking at once. They’re getting on my nerves. And they all talk too damn fast.

I’ll be looking forward to seeing photos of the O’Hare Stapled Chicken Fest, too! So get those cameras working, folks! And have lots of fun!

I have nothing on the plans this weekend, but tomorrow we’re going out to Wolf Trap for the annual Swamp Romp. Which reminds me, we need to go dig some really, really nice Mardi Gras beads out – gotta wear our best to show off everyone else wearing their beads! It’s not like we don’t have lots of choices, either, since the idiot movers did load those extra 35 bags of beads into the moving truck that we were going to freecycle, and buried them too deep to remove easily when we discovered it. It should be fun, a great afternoon of Cajun and zydeco music. And even if the weather’s bad, this is a “general admission” event so we can stay in the seating area instead of dancing out on the lawn. And that way I won’t sunburn my nose again, either! :dubious:

So I guess I should go to work so I can spare the time to goof off tomorrow. It’s just hard to get motivated this morning. I’m achy all over, but I finally figured out why – I keep forgetting to send my Celebrex prescription in to the mail-in pharmacy, which is really the only affordable way to get our prescriptions these days with our insurance – otherwise, it’s over $50 per month, whereas mail order is $35 for 3 months – so I’ve not had it for several days, and I’m really noticing it. I’m seeing the doctor Monday; I’ll see if i can mooch some samples from her to tide me over. In the meantime, I guess I’ll go back to my fallback position, ibuprofen. Man, I hate getting old and arthritic, even though mine is nowhere near as severe as Rosie’s!

Morning, everyone!

rosie, I’m glad you’re progressing towards perfect mobility.

Ooof. Mr. Lissar is hacking and coughing behind me, and I’m settling in for a long morning’s resting and tidying before trndling off to work. Yesterday was not a good day, and I live in fear of feeling horrible at work with Mono Co-Worker and Extremely Grouchy Co-Worker for seven hours.

I’m up & caffeinated, happy Saturday morning, y’all.

Sounds like a fine day to lounge about, Swampy. We have a chance of t-storms here, but won’t see the remnants of Barry until sometime Sunday afternoon/evening, probably. We need the rain, but not as badly as other places do.

MamaTigs, my doc put me on Relafen; this is my first time taking it so we’ll see how it does, or rather how I do with it. :dubious: So many side effects! And must be taken with food; I had a disastrous time with a pain reliever before that I took on an empty stomach. I retched so terribly that it scared me to even try it with food (dry heaves will do that unfortunately!). Sorry about the TMI folks! My pharmacy offers mail-order too, which I’m thinking that I’m going to do now, cause I’ve just got so many 'scrips and the mail order is much less expensive plus you can get 3 months worth at a time.

Ah, FCM, I felt for you as you described your coughing spell. Certain things really seem to irritate my throat (possibly due to the thyroid problem) when I eat them–corn chips, stuff with nuts in it, sometimes peanut butter if I eat too much of it. Then I get to coughing … and … well, guess you know what happens next! So embarassing! Pregnancy-weakened bladder muscles, aggravated by coughs. I’ve tried the Kegel exercises, but they don’t seem to help me.

Anyways, I’m looking forward to seeing those pics from Chicago!!! Oooh ooh, I keep forgetting that it’s central time there, and it’s only just now 9 AM. Rosie, good luck with your PT and with getting back into a routine - great idea.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend, and happy graduation to all who are graduating!

I got the sweetest e-card from kaiwik. Dopers are nice but MMPers are the best! My librarian friend is taking Mr. SCL and I to dinner tonight; she said she has a book she wants to give me in memory of Gwen. That is awfully sweet of her. All of my friends have been being very sweet, most of them have cats, too.

Well, I need to finish caffeninatin’ and go work on beads. Can’t wait to see pictures from the O’Hare Stapled Chicken Festival!

Hmmm… ya know Swamp Romp happens here too but I’m guessin’ it means sump’n different than what BioTigs is doin’ tomorrow.

Snakes that is just so jake! kai we all know is a big ol’ sweetie and your friends bein’ so nice and supportive is well, just the jakiest! Hope you’re startin’ to feel better.

Herbs you’re pregnant? Did I miss sump’n?

LiLi I think you should puke on Mono and Grouchy cow-orkers. That’ll learn 'em! Or just maybe in their general vicinities.

Can y’all believe Somebody is actually talkin’ about goin’ back to sleep for a while? The lazy bum! Maybe I’ll join him.

Well, I’m up. I was planning to sleep in a bit longer, but the phone rang at 10:00am. I had the ringer on both cordless phones turned off, but in a fit of evil glee, Panasonic neglected to provide a way to turn the base ringer/voice off. Because it rings, too. It rings and speaks the Caller ID name of the person that’s calling. (Or “Number Available!” if there’s no name ID.)

I have yet to go out for coffee though. I shall do that shortly.

I spent a lot of time last night playing around with Microsoft’s Photosynth. Simply amazing, and incredibly addictive, clicking around on various image points and zooming in and around. You can easily lose hours in that thing.

Okay, I should go get some coffee.

Afternoon all! It’s still afternoon, we’re just back from doing stuff in Wolves - it’s hot and sunny out there and the place was very busy even for a Saturday. I guess that’s what happens when the football season finishes, everyone starts going out on Saturday afternoons again.

There’s a steam and vintage fair at the park round the corner from us so we’ve been hearing steam whistles all day and the streets are full of parked cars. That’s the only disadvantage to living so close to the park in the summer, you can’t find space for your car on the street even if you live here. Luckily we have off-street parking after we had the front garden paved but it’s always difficult to get out during the day because I still have to get out of the car afterwards to close the gates. Not wishing to be critical, but 'im indoors wasn’t thinking too hard when he picked the position for the front gates because you have to open at least one of them out across the pavement. See, if it had been me, I’d have the the same fancy wrought-iron gates and fixed them to slide either side of the entry space, that way I could leave it open when I got the car in or out and just pull them back when I was done. But he never bothered to think of that. You can tell which one of us doesn’t drive, can’t you?

Nothing much else going on today, we’re heading in to Birmingham later to catch up with a friend - we’ve promised to meet her later in the Welly, so there will be plenty of beerverages for us! No stapled chickens though…

I don’t know about all this swamp romping, I know Swampy has a completely different idea about what constitutes a swamp romp to the rest of us, and I think MamaTigs is just going for the music 'cos she’s wearing beads, but I was just wondering if maybe it was anything like bog snorkelling which is, of course, every bit as fun as it looks!

Bog snorkeling sounds like a naughty thing da bear does.

Herbs, my doc tried me on Relafen for my back. It tore up my stomach.

BioTigs, 35 bags of beads? Sounds like someone had a naughty good time during Mardi Gras.

So we didn’t get to see 'mika, because she called to say her flight had been delayed and even if we had gone to meet her her layover time would have been too short for us to do much more than say hi and bye. :frowning: I did get to meet MBG though, and we had a lovely chat as he very kindly drove me back to my apartment, which was quite out of his way.

Got a party to primp for and a cake to bake. Must run. Have a lovely weekend everyone!

No stapled chicken?? Bummer.

I’m taking a lunch break. The glazing is moving right along. I also made 2 more kitty heads and finished a bowl thing that *someone * was going to decorate for me 2 freekin’ months ago! Luckily, I’d kept it wrapped up, so it didn’t dry out all the way. I think it’s kinda cute - we’ll see how it comes out of the kiln.

There’s no chocolate in this house. I feel a disturbance in The Force. Dammit. I need to get some groceries anyway, so maybe I can remedy the situation later on.

Well, back to work. Them doggie dishes won’t glaze themselves!

“Arizona Pizza?” Covered in jalapenos and guacamole?

Tarra - I thought Relafen was an IV drug. It comes in oral form? My doc has me on Rituxan.

Funny about Meeks’ plane being delayed. I had a dream that I was on a flight that was 4 hours delayed - Going to Vegas with stops in San José, Milwuakee, and Dallas before LV. strange.

Arizona Pizza is a chain that just happens to have a restaurant in Leonardtown, which puts it about 6 miles from us. The food is pretty good, and on days when we want something quick but not Bad Chinese (which is in the same shopping center) we go to Arizona.

Carry on - back to the basement with me!
