Hey guys, just popping in to let you know that I am going to officially be employed as of Monday. ::does happy dance:: It’s only 16 hours per week, but it’s better than being completely unemployed. Also, it gives me plenty of time to be available for a second part-time job, preferably at a library nearby. I’m hoping that some of this works out the way I need it to.
Out of the way nothing, it was a few minutes, and yes it was a lovely chat. I stopped for breakfast and at the gym on the way home - hope it stays dry for your party!
Although I am slapping myself a little for not at least getting a nice pic of haze in the red dress she wore so I’d recognize her.
For some reason, although it rained yesterday and should rain some each of the next two days, I just laid out the soaker hose by the lilacs and the pear tree.
I now must go and hang more things on walls, because while they may be painted, they look bare. (N.O.B)
AWWW… I’m sorry stapled chicken fest didn’t happen. And yeah, shame on you MBG for no pic of Haze.
There’s a nice steady rain comin’ down. It’s so nice to be out on the back porch just watchin’ it. AHHHHHHHHH!!! I hope it keeps up for two or three days, but I know it won’t. This will probably blow through overnight.
Ok, naptime has not happened yet but it still may cause it’s nice nappin’ and other stuff weather.
It’s hot, my street is full of people, and I have to work.
Grumble.
Do you think I could call in with Southern Lady Fainting Disorder or something? And get iced tea and little cakes brought to me?
There are about 100 drops of rain on my windshield; it’s not even enough to dampen the pavement. Come on, Swampy, quit hogging all the rain!
With my limited tenure here, am I allowed to join the pile-on on MBG? Actually, why am I asking – MBG, shame on you for not getting a picture of Haze!
In other news, Israel 2 : Macedonia 1. Yay!! El-el-Israel!!
For those who don’t know what I’m talking about (which is almost certainly all of you people…), Israel just beat Macedonia 2:1 in a football game (“soccer” to all of you but BooFae) – European Nations’ Championship qualification game for the 2008 tournament.
So a little something for me to be happy about tonight
On the other hand, you can all point and laugh at me now – I have to be at work, start another week, in about nine hours. Boo
Awww, stop ragging on MBG. I’ll post plenty of pics of myself from tonight, all gussied up and pre-drunken boat. (What happens on the boat stays on the boat.
)
Woo hoo! I just got my credit card statement for the credit card that has carried a 4 to 5 figure balance for 13 years - I owe $231.43. ::does backflips:: In September, all of my accounts will be paid in full, and I will have paid off over $35,000 in debt.
Yay on the debt payoff Jah! Feels good don’t it!
Haze we could lay off of MBG, but what would be the fun in that?
Snakes we’ve had steady rain all afternoon. I mean it’s only 74 degrees Amurrkin outside right now!
Chicken wings are in the oven and smellin’ good. I’m oven fryin’ 'em, then I’ll put hotwing sauce on 'em and let 'em bake a few more minutes. MMMMMMMM… I know it ain’t real healthy but that’s supper tonight cause this is lazy slouch day after all. Lunch was grilled pimento cheese sammiches and chips. Nappage etc. was also accomplished. We’ve been really good slugs all day.
Tomorrow is brunch Sunday at church, so I have also managed to make up a casserole. Tomorrow’s culinary delight is Chicken Spaghetti. It’s good but the recipe sounds real church lady like…
Chicken Spaghetti
Chicken pieces (I used breasts and thighs in the slow cooker with some celery and onion for flavoring)
1 Bell Pepper
1 12 oz. package of spaghetti (I use angel hair pasta cause I like it better)
1 can of baby English peas
1 can of Ro-Tel tomatoes (I use one and a half cause I like the extra spiciness)
1 small onion chopped
1/4 stick of butter (margarine if you must)
1 small can of mushrooms (chop 'em up)
1 pound of sharp cheddar cheese (the recipe says velveeta, but I gotta dechurchlady it a little bit!)
Grated mozzarella cheese (I added this cause I like it)
Cook chicken (duh!) and chop into bite sized pieces. Boil spaghetti (or angel hair) in chicken stock. Saute onions and peppers in butter. Add tomatoes and cheddar cheese. Add remainining ingredients (except mozzarella) and mix. Sprinkle grated mozzarella on top. Bake at 350 degrees Amurrkin until bubbly (thirty minutes, maybe a little longer). It can be made ahead of time and frozen.
Matter of fact, I have it all ready and will bake it in the morning. IMO it’s better if it sets overnight covered in the fridge.
There ya have it, chicken sketties! It’s good actually. Actually I have one casserole frozen cause this makes a bunch. It’ll be nice to pull it out in a couple weeks and bake it for supper.
Ok, oven is beepin’ at me. Time to sauce and brown wings!
Mmmm, sounds yummy, swampy!
Yay on the debt paydown, Jahdra!
Sorry the complete Cucaracha Fest didn’t happen. Did MBG sing anyway? :: pouts :: He was supposed to sing!!!
Yay on the soccer game! Quietly points and laughs because she still has one more day of weekend - yay! - and SO doesn’t.
I went to a training session at the park this morning and then helped in the garden at church for a bit. Came home and had a nap for about an hour. It started raining when we were finishing up in the garden and still seems a bit wet out.
I’m thinking about getting some cleaning up done here - that never ends - but I’m not sure I’m motivated enough. Maybe I’ll just laze around and watch a movie or something. Kinda feel like I could use more nap.

I have learned that hot wings, blue cheese dressin’, celery and bigass kosher dill pickles should probably not be eaten all at one time. It was good, but we’re both wonderin’ what possessed us to add bigass kosher dill pickles to the mix. And I do mean biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigass pickles! URP!
Oh and there’s this Kate & Allie marathon thingy on WE which we’ve been watchin’ off and on between naps, general slouchiness, etc. Kind of a strange day at da cave.
And… it’s still raining! YAY!
I’m just home from my night out and the clock says it’s 00:16 so I guess this is an appropriate time to say that I love you all. 'im indoors is sulking about something I mentioned to my friend tonight about how he ruined my first Glastonbury festival that I went to with him. Well, it’s the truth so let him sulk, that’s what I say.
And I still love you all.
BURP The bigass dill pickle is a’ talkin’ to me! Betwixt the two of us I’m afeered this is gonna be a stinky night at da cave.
wow - talking pickles!
Whew - I ache! And I only finished about half of my glazing. With luck, I’ll finish tomorrow and get it all loaded into the kiln.
Did I tell you we’ve got a country club do tomorrow afternoon?? The Arts association that I joined for this next show is having a reception and we’re going. What the heck - they’ll have snacks!
Dinner tonight was bad Chinese because the time got away from me. Dessert is going to be some tylenol - I really am achy. A hot tub sure would be nice. Wish I had one…
Not what you’re thinking, CanineServant, about how we collected the beads – that’s what happens when you live in New Orleans and you think you might want to ride in a Mardi Gras parade some year. It’s a whole lot cheaper to just go collect and save the beads for a couple years and then throw them back than to buy them all new – even the cheapest Mardi Gras parade can usually set you back a few hundred to ride, and the most expensive ones cost thousands every year. (Yes, the riders pay for the privilege!) So we collected all the beads, planning to throw them back…and then Papa Tigs got laid off and we moved back to Maryland. We were only going to bring a half dozen bags of the nicest beads; we even sold nearly 20 bags of long beads to a guy who resells them. But then the movers oopsed, so we have a lifetime supply. And then some. We figure one of these days we’ll just have to load up the car and drive 'em back down and throw 'em back; nobody around here wants them in the quantities they toss them out in New Orleans!
I ended up spending the afternoon in bed, trying to recover from feeling really crappy. I don’t know if it’s a bug or what, but I have a miserable headache and just ache all over. So I’m probably going to go crawl back in and watch the hockey game or something; it’s not worth making myself feel worse to do anything else. And I need to feel good tomorrow for the Swamp Romp so I can enjoy the music. It’s not exactly the quiet, relaxing type.
I’ve told the Idiots they’re getting fancy personalized new bowls, FCM, but all they care about is what we put in them.
Mmmm, yummy dessert, FCM! What flavor Tylenol? (Chocolate chip?)
Hi, rosie!
We love you, too, BooFae!
I just ate a couple of little sweet gherkins. No wings, though.
Watching The Horizontal Lieutenant and contemplating stuff to clear up without lots of effort in the living room.
Back after a while…

I had plain ole’ sketty - actually mostacioli with a batch of my own sauce i found in the fridge. Tossed a salad (but caught it) and grilled some italian sausages.
Then after dinner I fell asleep on the couch.
No singing gt sorry. It was early, I don’t sing early. In fact, I don’t sing late either.
It’s feeling like a popcorn and search for a movie on cable night tonight. The Kid stopped in briefly in between the Cubs game (and I thought she was raised better…) and her trip to visit friends for the night.
Mr. SCL and I went to Thai House with my librarian buddy - she had bought me a book in memory of Gwen (Cat Heaven by Cynthia Rylant) but forgot to bring the book so after a really yummy dinner we went to her house and picked plums and lettuce. She’s got 11 different kinds of lettuce planted! So now I have salad for tomorrow and enough plums that I may make some jam.
We’ve had a bit of rain - mostly drizzle - I’m hoping we’ll get more. It was fun picking the plums 'cause the tree was all wet and we got dampened.
Mama Tigs, I can find those beads a good home if you want to get rid of them; we have a Mardi Gras night every year at the Snake Pit.
FCM, since you’ve done the craft fair thing before - it there any advice you feel like a newbie should know? I know we don’t have the same kind of stuff, but advice about stuff to take to make us more comfortable, things to avoid, etc. My SIL has purchased a canopy and I just hope it gets here in time for us to have a trial run setting it up.
Busy day today!
I vacuumed the house, and I washed 3 loads of clothes, one of which is on the couch waiting to be folded, and another of which is still in the dryer.
But mostly we took Ernie to get groomed. He smells like a French whore! Here’s the before and after. Damn, he’s a cutie! I have some more pics of all of them, but I’ll have to upload them later…
We went to the sports bar for a while, and watched the Astros win- one in a row! Woo-hoo!
Dinner was awesome! We had a seafood boil - shrimp and crawfish and corn on the cob and potatoes. I’m stuffed.
Dishes are done and Dopin’ has commenced.
