A wayward soul's MMP

Otherwise known as “the zoomies.”

Otherwise known as the ‘zoomies’ at my house.

Mooooooom, I agree that pierogi are hella work. When I make them for my dad, I spend a whole day making them, but there’s enough for Thanksgiving dinner (we rarely do the bird and other traditional stuff since Mom’s been gone) and enough for about a dozen individual servings in the freezer. It’s a labor of love.

swampy, nothin’ wrong with letting the Captain cook sometimes. Occasionally, I get a hankering for their batter dipped fish.

I think you’re right about the tree needing to come down Johnny. You may not be so lucky during the next wind storm. A few years ago, I had a hackberry limb (a biiiiig one) come down on my deck. It took out my umbrella and patio set.

magic, my dog gets the rips / zoomies if he doesn’t get to the dog park a couple of times a week.

The Zoom meeting was productive this morning. The Finance IT guys were there as well. I presented my idea for a trigger report for receipts not invoiced after 90+ days. At that point, there will be a cycle count throughout the facility to count that SKU so that we’re a bit more aware. I’ve heard that Baby mama and daddy may not be returning. :face_with_hand_over_mouth: Oh, well.

I came home and took Nelson to the dog park where he got to run with his buddies Ollie, Jack, Bandit and a new little guy, Kirby. I got to visit and a good time was had by all. Picked up some ribs on the way home. When we pulled in, the kids in building 8 were out with their skateboards and their dog Rocky (a Scooby Doo look alike), so Nelson naturally had to posture for him when we got out of the car. Good thing Rocky is a calm dog.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Howdy Y’all! I got productive this mornin’ and got the stuff I needed to get done, well, done. Go Me! Sloth then ensued. OYKW picked up our sup fish 'n chips (with coleslaw and hush puppies, of course) which we both greatly enjoyed. More sloth has since ensued. Have I mentioned lately how much I lurve retirement?

OK, I imagined sump’n else entirely when I read “rips.” See, around these parts, havin’ the “rips” pretty much means the same thing as havin’ the “runs.” Thus, I am glad the bunnies were not havin’ that kind of “rips.”

Evening all. Only spent about an hour with soccer since there were only 6-7 coaches (Wednesday there were over 20) and it was cold outside (47F, which is cold for me). Came home and made up the 8 soccer teams for the 6 year olds, and now get to hear about how terrible a job I have done. Ah well, hopefully we can fix anything necessary in the next day or so.

My plan (such as it is) is to do Antarctica in 2023, which will be my 70th birthday year, so what better present than going to my 7th Continent? Still don’t know if I’m going to get anywhere this year, but I’m going to be ready to bust lose come 2022…

magic, I know about dogs getting the rips/zoomies, and I can believe cats do, but bunnies? In my (very limited) experience, they tend to sit still or hop awkwardly from place to place. Guess you have some speed bunnies…

flyboy, that’s some serious weather there. Be careful.

OK, need to check the e-mail for my newest soccer calamity, then off to bed I think (no nappage today). All y’all take care.

A-ha! I know of what you speak. We call that FRAP (frenetic rapid activity period) or zoomies.

What?! How dare they! If you want me to come down there and give 'em the Teacher Glare, let me know.

I got myself out to walk errands. I’m not as fatigued as I was, so that helped. I also had a nice, long phone chat with an old friend of mine. She’s such a sweet person. She’s also probably the 9th or 10th person to express incredulity that I’m not eligible for the vaccine yet, but then, she knows my health history re: lupus and infections diseases, and the state does not.

My knuckles are swollen, but my hand joints do feel better. I’m about to have a hot bath, which is always sheer bliss.

I am in a conundrum. I have to transplant the Geranium That Ate Washington, but the size pot I need wouldn’t fit in the babushka cart. Also, those suckers run–yikes–$50-60, so I don’t want to pop another $10-15 for Uber fare to get one home. I may have to break down and ask a friend for a ride. Or I could attach wheels to the planter and ride it home.

Antarctica sounds like a wonderful destination! I wanna go. However, my bank account and my travel dreams don’t align, so MetalMouse and Sunny, take lots of photos and videos, OK?

Yabba Dabba Doo! Bath time!

And finally it’s Saturday!

Today is white diet, as tomorrow I start the dreaded prep for Monday’s colonoscopy. Not very exciting.

Need to take the nail color off as it’s getting raggedy.

Have lots of paperwork to catch up on, since the week was rather busy. Crashed on the couch before 9 last night and then woke up early to a gray day.

Thinking I’ll go to the local drugstore as they also carry natural peanut butter. They’re not much of a drugstore as they only carry over-the-counter medicines, which are not available at the grocery store. I would have to go to a pharmacy (apotheke) or the doctor’s office to get prescriptions.

And considering what magic had mentioned about the rabbit before, I thought the rabbit was ripping farts (again). Probably the rabbit can go both at once.

And on that note, have a good day!

Wanna know why you’ll never see any of my masterpieces in an gallery, National or otherwise?

Turns out for Open Studio Night, you can pick any picture off the wall to copy, then you do your best to duplicate it. This, sadly, was my best. It has very little in common with the original. I did better when everyone painted the same thing under the direction of the instructor, because she explained the elementary stuff like which brush to use and which colors to mix, and what order to slap it all on the canvas. Left to my own devices, I couldn’t even figure out how to get the right color for the sand - I was using browns - she mixed some up using ocher and white.

But it was fun, if frustrating. I should have chosen the unicorn for Roxy - it was closer to a coloring book style of picture and I think I could have done a much better job. Daughter’s hibiscus looked really nice - she inherited her dad’s and grandmother’s artistical eye.

I’m pretty sure it didn’t have anything to do with the horrible night I had - waking a couple of times, falling asleep again, then having a nightmare that woke me in an absolutely furious temper!! I managed to doze off again for a bit more, and I finally gave up around 6. Only to come out and discover I’d forgotten to refill the pellet stove, so it was cooler than I liked in the main part of the house.

That has since been remedied - there’s a good fire blazing and I’m breakfasting. I have a few minor chores to do today, plus I need to get our passport applications in the mail. Daughter and SIL are coming over to help FCD load the 3-D printer on the trailer and take it to Daughter’s classroom so her students can print what they designed. Not sure if I’ll be wrangling Roxy or not. If not, I’ll take the trash and recycling while they’re gone.

And so the day begins. Happy Saturday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN I was a slugabed until seven-thrity! :astonished: Actually bladder woke me up just before five a.m. I took care of that and went back to bed and the next thing I knew I woke up at seven-thirty. 'Tis 52 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 63 and cloudyish for the day. It might or might not rain, as well. TWPTB are in their usual state of willy-nilly on this. No big plans for the day. Matter of fact, I have no idea what we shall sup upon. Maybe it will be a good day for majik intartoobz pizza.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Dicey: I had a colonoscopy a few years ago. Everything was fine in the end. You won’t remember the procedure.

Mornin’ all. It’s been a week, but Saturday is upon us! I need to get miles/steps/run in and am hopeful the rain will hold off until I have that done.

My son may or may not come up today to reclaim his computer. It’s a darn nice PC and he’s been letting us use it to run our VR set-up. However, yesterday we ordered a fancy-schmancy computer and it will be here soonish, so he can use his computer again. He has another one, but this one is a little better than his other computer.

I wanted to sleep in today, but alas, it didn’t happen. I guess I slept in compared to my weekday wake-up time, but 4:45 am is still early. I gave up trying to sleep because my husband kept tossing and turning and fiddling with his CPAP. It was driving me nuts, so I just gave up on the idea of any additional sleep.

I am not sure I could have done any better on the artwork, FCM. I always think it might be fun to do something like that with my daughter, but I know toddler and baby wrangling keep her very busy on the weekends.

I need to work on getting some fuel in me for my upcoming walk/run. After that, unless my son comes up, I don’t have any real plans. Some housework, or maybe even some yard tidying. I shall see how it goes.

Taters - it is fun, even if I suck at it. We can’t wait till Roxy is old enough to take on the kids’ days, but it’s probably at least a year out - she’ll be 3 next month and her art is mostly very, um, unique faces…

Speaking of whom, she’s on her way over. I get to wrangle her for a couple of hours, then I’ll take her home and head across the road to Aldi. Since I’ve tidied the kitchen and scooped the cat box, plus changed out the towels in our bathroom, I’m free to play! WOOHOO!!!

Meh. Hanging in there. Drinking a bit too much & eating far too little, lately, as per my usual. But hangin’ in there.

nellie, I would likely do more container gardening if it weren’t for the logistics and cost of the pots. They’re too heavy for me to wrangle into / out of my car and get to my patio and I balk at spending $60-100 each for them.

I’m glad you had fun painting with your daughter Moooooom.

{{{shoe}}}

Up,caffeinating, breakfasted and a load of jeans in the wash. Once KP is done, I’ll get sheveled and go to procure groceries. I might take Nelson to a different dog park this afternoon for a change of scenery.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Morning all. Stayed in the bed until 9:15am, so still a little slow-starting (too much sleep does that to me) but should be good for the day. Temps in the 50’sF and I might go help distribute soccer equipment bags to the coaches (and pick up one myself). We’ll see.

FCM, it is certainly a better effort than I could ever deliver; frame it and hang it.

Dicey, the prep is the worst part of the colonoscopy; like flyboy says, you won’t remember the procedure (except for a certain increased level of flatulence…).

nellie, I for one am not going South until 2023, and hey, you might win the lottery by then.

OK, better prepare some sustenance and get about the day. Everyone have a good Sattiday.

By 9am today I had: weed whacked the front and side yards, repaired the weed whacker (jammed line feeder), fed the cats inside and out, filled the bird feeder, installed new shelving in the kitchen to reclaim counter space, eaten breakfast myself, started a load of pots & pans in the dishwasher, scrubbed the kitchen sinks, and paid some bills. Now it’s off to change a couple of litter boxes before I head out to the nursery to see what they have in stock flower-wise. When I get back from that I’m going to kick back and enjoy some legal intoxicants while watching TV for the rest of the weekend.

Everybody stay safe and healthy!

Here’s a DIY planter that I’m dying to try - maybe this year… Of course, the materials might not be any lighter than a planter.

Roxy has been returned to her parents and I’ve returned from Aldi and stowed my purchases. I should probably tread the mill, and empty the dishwasher, and launder the new sheets that were just delivered. So you people quit distracting me, dammit!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

Had some excitement about 2:30 this morning. Was awakened by a rhythmic thumping, somewhere. Got up and wandered around the house, looking out windows and such, until I got to the kitchen. The noise was coming from the refrigerator! :scream: No, it wasn’t leftovers which had achieved sentience. It was the ice maker. :unamused: Apparently, the ice cubes, which are supposed to exit the mechanism and fall into a tray below it, has refused to be evicted and had instead frozen themselves together in a show of solidarity. The lever, or whatever it is, that is supposed to move them out, was whacking them every couple of seconds, loudly enough to wake us up. After I manually removed the ice and dumped the tray., (it had filled up with water) the racket ceased. Now I’m worrying about what might happen if it does it again while we’re in the Valley. le sigh

Wifey wants me to get my butt in gear so we can walk down to the store/gallery where she has some of her paintings hung. (She’s already sold one.) In case the proprietor has trouble with her new Square. I used Square for years in my store, but haven’t used it for over a year, so prolly not upon any updates, but I could prolly figger it out. We’ll see. Want to go to the hardware store anyway, and maybe stop in to the tavern for lunch. Turns out that their cook knows how to cook fish and chips properly and gets it right almost every time, so I’m a happy camper.

On that note, I’ve gotta get off of here and get into the shower.

Yes, Swampy, being retired is good.

Y’all be careful out there. The plague is still amongst us.

Bumba - can’t you just lift the lever and stop the ice maker while you’re gone? And if you think your ice maker is dead, I can highly recommend this or similar products. The one I linked to is the one I have, and it’s great. Once it gets down to temperature, it pops out ice way faster than the fridge ever did I can usually fill the bin in around 4 hours. Just a thought.

I need to get motivated - the dishwasher won’t empty itself…
