A wayward soul's MMP

I got shot.

With the Moderna COVID vaccine(I was on a NCNS/leftover standby list) I also managed to break my glasses. I should be able to fix them, though, until my insurance kicks in in 2 weeks or so. But laundry is going, and it’s naptime.

Hey! I only drink on days that end with “y”. :yum:

EEK! Glad it missed everythng.

Like I said… :stuck_out_tongue:

I R a idiot. I feel so much better today, which seemed odd, because usually lupus flares last weeks or months. Doh! I got the second shingles shot Wednesday, and my immune system, which is as confused as I am, e started attacking itself instead of perceived intruders. To celebrate, I’ll go for an urban hike. My mask tape arrived, so I’ll see how that works.

shoe, dang it, I wish we all lived closer together. Since we don’t, think of us as your Mumper family, urging you to eat, offering shoulders to cry on as needed, and generally being there for you. Team Shoe is here for you.

Moooom, I think the painting is pretty good. i love the fence. Glad you had fun playing with RoxStar. How did she get to be almost THREE so fast?

MetalMouse, that’s a thought. Lottery, here I come! OK, kidding, but truth be told, I don’t even know how to play it. That is, I see machines with scratch-off tickets, but I assume those are for smaller amounts. I have no idea how you get the other kind of tickets where you pick numbers. Or are the numbers automatically generated? Go-o-olly! Life shore is diff’runt here in the big city!

Bumba, you crack me up. I know little about ice makers, but seems like once your cubes unionize, it’s all over. Sure, the strike breaker beats them often, but 'tis all in vain. Just hope they don’t influence your toaster.

doggio, it couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. What is this leftovers list of which you speak?

Back from the nursery. Got an azaela and some pepper plants. Including one from Texas that I will post without comment except to say that I’m wondering what kind of salsa to make with them.

Pretty cat!

Good grief. How much is left?

I did spend three years on a skimmer (including an Atlantic crossing), but as a general rule I don’t see any sense in going to sea on something that isn’t designed to return to the surface after submerging. I would, however, like to go for a cruise on Royal Clipper.

Trouble is, it doesn’t stay lifted. I need to find a way to keep it turned off.
Of course, there’s always duct tape.

Superstorm Sandy dropped my neighbours’ tree into my yard. The tips of the branches reached just far enough to damage the railing on the back porch and destroy the bracket for one of the planter boxes. The bole came down on my Subaru…

Dang, you’re old! I won’t be 70 until 2024.

↑ ↑ ↑ That!!!

Me, too. The MMP seems to be a majority geezer gathering. Whose turn is it to chase the whippersnappers off the lawn??

One set of sheets is clean, dry, and folded, the other set is in the dryer, and when FCD gets up from his nap, it’ll go on the bed. That way, I can claim to have accomplished something today.

Groceries arrived, with cheese and frozen items not as cold as would be desirable, but still OK to use. Mega-sloth planned today.

Thawing a pot roast, plus some ground beef destined to be spaghetti sauce.

“Employee appreciation day” at irk yesterday. This took the form of distribution of bags of microwave popcorn. I feel SO valued there, words cannot express.

If you straightened out the horizon, it would improve things whole bunches. The proportions are good (1/3:2/3) and the fence gives some eye relief in the foreground.

Yep. Dodged a bullet on that one!

Not sure, and I forgot to upload a picture. Fifty feet, maybe?

Sometime after 0930 I started deconstructing the mess. I got a huge pile of limbs, and a small pile of 16-inch logs. My little 16-inch Homelite electric chainsaw performed more than adequately; but I had to rent a 20-inch Husqvarna gas-powered chainsaw for the butt-end. It’s 1400 now, so I probably spent three or three and a half hours working (plus three trips to the hardware store and a couple of breaks).

ETA: There’s also a photo on the link above, of the tree top on the ground, before I cut it up.

I just found out that at the grocery store where I do shopping, people can claim medical exemtion to not wear a mask, without showing proof.

So, whether or not they really have an exemption, they are allowed to go maskless and endanger the health of others.

FCD wants to make a transatlantic crossing on Star Flyer because he thinks Royal Clipper is too big. Looks like a crossing from the Canary Islands to St. Maarten runs $2300-$3100 more or less, plus airfare. And you spend 13 days at sea - nowhere to stop along the way. I dunno. That’s a lot of books loaded on my tablet…

I’ve remade the guest room bed and changed the sheets on our bed. I count that as accomplishment. Neither of us want supper, but I may have an apple. And I may sleep with Mel tonight.

Holy moly! Hellzapoppin’ today! Weather forecast said “Slight chance of rain.” A little while ago, we got high winds and a cloudburst. It was like being in a carwash. In 5 minutes, the parking lot was awash. Now it’s settled down to a steady, pounding rain.

I would have been out in it, but my walk got delayed by Holy Moly Event #1: I got an email from the DOH saying that after a number of disabled people complained, the governor has added people with low vision (among other disabilities) AND who have one major risk factor for Covid to the next vaccine tier. That’d be me–I think! I could be eligible as of 3/22. Fingers crossed! I had to call a friend to make sure I was reading it right, and then we got to talking. Hence the delay.

Flyboy, that musta been one huge tree. Do you have other big trees on your lot?

Mooooom, the Canary Islands trip sounds wonderful! What do you do on the voyage besides read?

You people are giving me an itchy travel foot. It’s still pouring out there, though, so I don’t think I’ll be able to travel farther than my living room.

nellie - I think there’s a pool and I expect there are activities like games and music. There are just a couple hundred passengers, so I guess you can make new friends. Or drink…:rofl:

Boo doing her happy dance! :dancer:t2: :dancer:t2: :dancer:t2: the Mumperfest is that much closer to realization!

There’s still the rest of that tree – the bigger part! There are a couple of sequoias out front that need to go, and I-don’t-know-how-many cedars growing about. And some maples. Except for the sequoias, which are raising the concrete. the other trees aren’t a threat.

Howdy Y’all! As I mentioned in my first post, much sloth has ensued. Serious sloth. Epic sloth. Sloths would be envious of the sloth! Oh and we had majik intatroobz pizza for sup.

doggio yay for gettin’ shot. When do you get the second one?

nellie :crossed_fingers: :crossed_fingers: :crossed_fingers: for your shot. All appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed.

Die for real the prep is the worst part. You get knocked out good for the actual procedure. Next thing you know you’ll be in the fart recovery room.

Evening all. Did manage to get outside and pickup my soccer bag from the shed, then went to the Sporting goods place and got a couple of pumps to inflate soccer balls (I got a couple because I usually lose/misplace/loan at least one per season). So that was about as active as my day got. Tomorrow is my once a week go-out-to-eat day, and Outback is on the schedule.

Got my 12-Under roster and wrote them about practice (first one Tuesday). Still waiting for the U-10 roster, hopefully tomorrow. Probably spend time tomorrow going through soccer stuff and getting ready for the season.

FCM, nellie, one cruise I would recommend, but you’ll need major bucks for, is to visit the Galapagos Islands. The ships are usually limited to 20-100 passengers, you access the islands by small boats and…well, it’s something I have been lucky enough to do twice in my life and I’d do it again except there is so much planet out there…

And nellie, good news on the vaccine front. I really am wondering what we are doing here in Ali-bama, there doesn’t seem to be much of any organization for this.

Cupcakes, one of the nice things I’ve found here in N. Ali-bama is that folks have actually masked up (at least indoors) and there doesn’t seem to be much fuss about it. Sorry to hear idiots being idiots…

flyboy, that’s some impressive wood pile.

Nettie, you have got to be kidding me; microwave popcorn?!?! Do all you bosses have that pointy-hair thing from Dilbert or something?

doggio, glad you got shot…or drank a shot, I’m not sure which…

OK, need to keep checking the e-mail on soccer and do a few cleaning things, then ready myself for Sunday. All y’all take care.

Glad you got shot doggio.

Yay for an end in sight nellie!

Got the groceries bought, laundry washed and dried and the only part left is folding / putting away the towels.

I took Nelson to the dog park for a few minutes before heading out to pick up supper. I was craving Blue Coast Burritos, but, alas, their drive thru was closed. I would up at Cook Out and got a stoner supper of a steak style cheeseburger and a couple of cheese quesadillas. Now for chillage.
