A wayward soul's MMP

Howdy Y’all! We slothed, napped, Netflixed (is too a word!), slothed, and then made and et sup. After all that activity, I think we’ll just sloth this evenin’.

Hippie yay for the great checkup! Glad you got teh intartoobz back.

VanGo yay for your second jab.

{{{Nellie and Sunny}}} hope y’all are feelin’ better now.

dicey, IIRC, wheelie went back to irk, so he may not have as much time to spend with us.

Yay hippy!

VanGo, glad you may get to see the folks again soon. It’s been since Thanksgiving 2019 since I’ve seen my dad. He’s been shot, but I’m waiting for mine.

BooFae, whisper sounds like a sweetie. And you know the rule about kitteh pics.

Moooooooom, pierogi would be quite a bit if work, but they do freeze well in serving sized containers. Easier is golumpki. I usually fix a big batch for the freezer when I go to see Dad for Thanksgiving. They’re easy for him to thaw one serving and pop in the microwave or toss in a skillet with some onions and butter for the pierogi.

{{{nellie}}} {{{sunny}}}

My presence has been requested for a Zoom meeting tomorrow with the Finance director (my g-g-grandboss), the senior operations manager, my boss and grandboss and various sundry members of the Procurement team. During my excavations into the variances this week, I ran across an issue of receipts not posted financially, not just with my stuff, but some other stuff as well. I submitted ~$1M worth of adjustments today. :frowning: Oddly enough, Baby daddy and his boss called out today too. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

When I got home this afternoon, it was 73F outside and the two little girls were playing with Molly, their dog outside with their dad supervising from the patio. I let Nelson off leash for about ten minutes to sniff butts and play a little. The girls got a kick out of that. I need to take them another craft project to work on during the next rainy day.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Evening all. Inside most of the day, not sick but just not feeling well. Also a case of Foggy Brain, where I think of something I need to do after the time has passed (i.e., forget to take the hamburger buns out of the freezer after panning on hamburgers all day…). Did get out tonight to drop off electric and water bills, managed to drive right by the place for the electric bill, but then went on to Jimmy John’s to pick up dinner. So everything is dropped off and my stomach is happy.

red, sounds like it could be an interesting meeting tomorrow…

nellie, I love Cruise ships, but it is better when you have friends with you–so we’ll hope FCM (or I) win that lottery and take the whole crew with us.

Butters, think about NC, but in the end do what you think is best for you.

Sunny, YEA! for sister. And BOO for headaches.

gotti, the level of stupid is never likely to improve in the human race, IMHO.

BBBoo, enjoy the Iowa trip (marvels at people getting excited to visit Iowa…)

OK, need to send a note to the soccer coaches and do a few other internettin’ things, so all y’all take care.

Well, it will be awhile before that Iowa trip~still have to get the second jab into both sister and me, plus the 3 weeks after the jab for immunity to develop (so I’m guessing May or later). Then there is the whole issue of her dear husband being so afraid of needles that he may not ever be able to be vaccinated (thanks to his mother who is long dead) and he has diabetes so I can’t do anything that might increase his risk. Plus I have a grandson due to make his arrival around June 30 here in Lincoln and I must be at all times able to be at my daughter’s house within a half hour or so to take care of the center-of-my-universe granddaughter (the big sister to be) so her parents can head to the hospital for the birth of grandchild #2. Gets very complicated very fast. Both my granddaughter and my daughter seem to need to know I always know where my car keys are for their respective peace of mind, so I may postpone that longed for trip to my sister’s in Iowa for early fall, after the new baby and his family have settled into each other comfortably and all realize that they will survive. Harriet just wants to be d@mn sure whoever is taking care of her knows how to make mac and cheese to her liking and will also allow her a little more screen time each day than her parents do. That’s what grandmas are for, right? BTW, my daughter knows Harriet gets more of many things from Grandma and that is just fine by her-she remembers with fond delight all the stuff she got away with with my mother. It’s the circle of life.

Iowa is an acquired taste-my sister still lives in the town we both grew up in-Cedar Rapids. Marvelous people and quality of life. Much like Lincoln, Nebraska, where I live now-so visiting doesn’t mean much change, except superficial scenery. I love visiting the big city or the mountains or the ocean, but I wouldn’t want to live there (barring millions of dollars to sooth over all the tricky edges of living there). Just give me the millions so I can live here and visit there!

Way more than any Mumper wanted to know but I was lonesome and wanted to visit.

heh, id had offers to move in the south … and I could easily be a denizen of the big easy if it wasn’t for humidity … I’m a Cali desert rat …115 degrees in may with 40-80 mph winds no problem … 90-degree heat with 70 percent humidity? I’m a puddle of sweat and rashes …

what is irritating me is the dickheads who are overheating the local housing market… I find a house between 220-250 k and by the time the realtor checks about it its got 20 offers and up to almost 400 k … but its all for flipper,s owners trying to rent to section 8 (because they can rip off the government horrendsly) or just want to rent out the house in general …

red - ain’t no way I’m making pierogi. Waaaaaay too much work and waaaaay too much temptation. Me lurves 'em!! But I had golumbki on my list already. And shepherd’s pie and Salisbury steak and chicken and broccoli and rice casserole and twice baked spuds and meatloaf. I know there’s more, but I can’t brain right now…

Time for sleepy-bye!!

Lasagna, mac and cheese, chicken and dumplings (or noodles).

Short sort today, but my sinuses were acting up, so that worked out.

{{{{gebtle huhs}}}}

Yes. And a second win for my bar tab.

Yeah. N.C. can get cold, but otherwise is nice.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 43 Amurrkin out and fair (as opposed to unjust?) with a predicted high of 71 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. I need to go over to the church house to deal with some stuff. We are crankin’ up in person worship once again this Sunday and I, in my capacity as church janitor Junior Warden, must needs attend to some setup details. Might as well get it done today. Won’t take long, just gotta go do. Outside of that no major plans. Sup shall be fish 'n chips from Captain D’s (we have a coupon, don’t judge!).

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, alas, woe, and bother of all bothers, I suppose I shall purtify and don appropriate bein’ amongst the public attire. Why must life be so complicated!

Happy Firday Y’all!

Morning, mumpers! It’s reasonably pleasant here today, this I know because our indoor recycling box is full and I went out to empty it into the biiiiiiiig recycling bin outside. Weather app says “It’s not quite dreadful outside, but its heading in that fucking direction” and promises me 4C/39F up to 6C/43F and cloudy. I’d agree with that, it’s definitely cloudy!

The kitties are still trying to sort themselves out. Poor Whisper is very lost and confused, my two aren’t sure what’s going on so there’s been some hissing and warbling but I’m hoping that in time they will settle down and be friends. Those of you on farcebook will have seen the pic of Whisper…this place won’t let me embed a pic, and I have no idea how to link to one on my laptop.

Off to make more tea, it’s Friday and I’m heading towards the Friday Afternoon Problem. For some reason there is always a FAP, usually something that’s been sitting on someone else’s desk for weeks and it’s urgent now, so I get roped in to fix it.

Already on the list, tho I’m wondering if the single-serve mac-n-cheese packs would be an acceptable choice that would leave freezer space for other things.

You and my sister…

swampy - I envy you - no Cap’t D’s hereabouts. And the lone Long John SIlver’s closed some time back. Sometimes, you just need greasy fast food fish.

We’re going to Cracker Barrel for breakfast, then to Lowe’s to return an item. I want to go to Aldi, but they don’t open till 9 and I don’t think we’ll be that long. Oh well.

Cold weekend ahead, but next week promised to be loverly and I’m already planning to get out and start raking and pruning and other spring duties. At long last…

Happy Firday!

Howdy, everyone. It’s been a week, but we’re on the cusp of the weekend, and I look forward to welcoming it at approximately 3:00 pm today. I plan to celebrate with some Netflix binge-watching.

I took Polar to the vet and he’s in really good health for a 12 or 13-year old dog. I got him caught up on shots, and have to take him in for a couple of boosters three to four weeks from now. Since we have squirrels and the occasional opossum running through the yard and we plan to bring another dog into the fold, he needs the boosters. He definitely has some arthritis in his hips and lower spine, so I’ve started him on Dausiquin. That diagnosis is based on his behavior during the exam and the noted stiffness he sometimes displays. About a month from now, I plan to reassess the Dausiquin thing with the vet. It may turn out he’ll need some Rymadil in addition to the glucosamine. I’ll also probably have an x-ray done just to make sure all is good. Finally, Polar has a teeny growth on his eyelid that is not harmful, but I need to keep an eye on it and if it grows, we’ll have to get it removed.

I don’t have exciting plans for the weekend. There is a possibility my son may come up, but it’s not a sure thing.

I’ll need to get my miles in, but unfortunately, there will be very little running. I’ve noted that my knee is still bothering me, so I must have done a number on it last weekend. I’m going to try to run, but pushing things results in bad outcomes for me, so I’ll see how it goes.

I really, really don’t want to work today; but I have a lot that needs to get done, so I’ll have to put on my big girl pants and just get it done. I put in my vacation request (first two weeks of August) over a week ago and it still hasn’t been approved. I am kind of annoyed. My boss is really only my acting boss, so she might be hesitating because of that. On the other hand, we don’t know WHEN a permanent one is coming in, so I think she should just go ahead and approve it. I’ve asked in plenty of time and I don’t understand the issue. I have plenty of leave and am already in use or lose status. I really miss my old acting boss. I still get to work with her because she’s currently the acting Associate Executive Director for my state (in addition to being a Branch Chief), but I really liked having her as a boss. I am secretly jealous of the members of her branch because she is hands down the best boss I have ever had. That says a lot seeing as how I have nearly 38 years of federal service under my belt.

Welp, time the third cup of coffee. I hope everyone has a good day!

Back from breakfast - it’s cold and windy out there!! Waiting for the warmth due next week. Meanwhile, I’m going to clean the tile floors and… I dunno… maybe something else. Not very motivated today.

The price of gas has really shot up - thanks, Texas! :stuck_out_tongue: It’s $2.75 at the cheap places, but just a few weeks ago, it was around $2.39. Not that I drive all that much anyway, but dang! Plus it means to cost of transporting goods will go up, so prices in the stores will go up. And will then come down if gas prices come down? Of course not.

Ok, happy thoughts… happy thoughts… Um… the sun is shining, so there’s that. :sun_with_face: Onward!

Morning all. It’s cold today, supposed to get down to single digits this weekend. Will need to keep an eye on the pipes. Ah the joys of an old house.

Got pizza dough rising in the fridge, that long pineapple thread in CS got me inspired. Gonna do pepperoni, pineapple, basil, and feta. Think I’ll try out a makeshift pizza oven with the steel below and the stone above. Must have patience to allow it all to get up to temp. (patience is not my strongest attribute)

Now, to contact a client and sell some stuff. Let’s do some good.

Stay safe everyone.

Tesco this morning as usual on a Friday. for the first time in ages I had Mo with me. Her chair was already in the car from her visit to the jab centre and she needed a passport photo. We tried DIY but they kept getting rejected. £6 in the Max Spielman booth solved the problem.

She also stocked up on toiletries while I did the mundane food stuff. She added at least £20 to the bill.

We also fed the car - petrol is nudging £1.20 a litre now (around $4.55 per US gallon) and ours is one thirsty car.

Yep. Here also.

Morning all. Up at 6:15am to micturate, then put on the sleep mask and stayed in bed until 8:30am. Lunch will be the Cheeseburger I had planned on yesterday and Dinner will be one of several options depending how lazy I am. May go back to help out the coaches training (session #2), mostly to help corral the Littles.

Temperature is 51F heading for near 60F, but it’s supposed to warm up next week, hopefully it means to stay that way this time.

Gas here is about $2.79/gallon, but I get .03 to .10/gallon off at Kroger for using my shopping card, so there is that. I usually wait until the low fuel light comes on and have a 22.5 gallon tank, I look at gas prices from a $50.00 perspective; if the fill-up costs less than $50, gas is cheap; if it’s more, gas is expensive.

Taters, hope Polar still has some squirrel chasin’ in him. And keep the pressure on the vacation time, you’ve earned it, they need to let you take it.

boo fae, you threw me with your Friday Afternoon Problem, since as I understand it, FAP usually means…something else… :astonished:

BBBoo, I know what you mean, home is home, and I’m still fond of visiting the little Ohio town I spent my first 8 years in, even though no one I know lives there anymore and it’s changed a lot in the past 60 years…but I still like to visit.

shady, that sounds a housing market prime for another 2008 collapse. Hope not.

OK, an couple more things to check out and then onward towards lunch. All y’all take care.

The days are getting warmer here and we are really looking forward to it. We have been walking at the local mall. WE have a really good treadmill, but being housebound for so long, we were going stir crazy. Today we plan to do our usual mall walk and the go to the zoo.

Morning, all. Today is going to be a slothful one after I get my 2 classes for the day taught. Why, you ask? Because this weekend promises to be nothing but work. The list includes weed whacking the whole property, emptying/filling a dozen half barrels for gardening, planting stuff in same, drilling the patio and installing the cement anchors for the privacy screens, at least one grocery run and all the usual weekend chores as well. So today, we floop!

Stay safe, everyone!
