Well, that’s cause you didn’t. I did volunteer to go on the list.
How about the 21st for me?
pie, that’s a great pic. How big will the one you are going to frame be?
Okay, the TV was reporting freezing temps this morning and our not terribly accurate outside thermometer said it was about 30 Murkin Degrees. None of the landscaping looks too bad cepting the Hibiscus but they can just be cut down to the roots and they will come back. I have so many pots in my breakfast nook that it looks like a jungle. I wonder if the cockatiel thinks he’s gone to heaven?
I wanna be snuggling in a blankie with some hot cream of mater soup.
You know possum is a good cold weather food. Thing is, one must catch a possum and pin him up for a couple of weeks. He should be fed on cornbread to fatten him up and clean him out. They are scavengers after all. Maybe I should be givin’ this advise to Sho since she has one in her backyard already.
**Mmmmmmmmmmms **thinks I have nice knobs. ::snerk::
Oooh, I didn’t think of that. Thanks.
I found meatloaf in the fridge this morning. I haven’t made meatloaf since mid-week the week before we went away for Christmas. I don’t think I’m going to even try to salvage the container it’s in. I don’t want to let the smell of that out! Oops. :smack:
It was really cold here yesterday - they say the high was 9 degrees F - but it’s supposed to get all the way up to 25 today! Woohoo.
Feedin’ ‘em cornbread; skinnin’ a squirrel–I’ve got the theory down from reading the previous editions of *Joy of Cooking. * But I’m more of a buy-your-meat-in-cubes kind of girl.
: ponders pinning up a racoon and feeding it cornbread:
It’s too cold for possums here, but we’ve got lots of racoons. And skunks. And the occasional fox, some of them quite big.
It’s really really cold here, too. It was -19 this morning when Mr. Lissar went off to work. It’s supposed to be 10 by Monday. I don’t get the weather. -15 right now.
The repair guy is supposed to come repair the damn oven today. After he comes I’ll do a slow stroll over to the drug store and get more anti-nausea meds. I will be taking them until I go into labour. It’s kind of depressing. I’ve been on them since May.
Anyway, if my stove gets repaired (and stays repaired, which I doubt) I can bake something warm and cheering today and tomorrow. I’ve been meaning to do scalloped potatoes for ages. And maybe muffins or the taxi-recommended pecan crust.
And sit on the couch. I was in bed for almost twelve hours. I’m being a good girl.
Well, puggy, here is the picture. I’m having it printed at Walgreens as an 8x10. I’m concerned that my 4x6 picture of us may be too big, but that’s easier to deal with.
**
Li-Li**, baking stuff and walking to the drugstore DOES NOT sound like you’re being a good girl. :dubious:
I’m at the shop now with PieMom. Between the two of us we’ve mostly gotten lunch together. Talk about a family effort, though, PieGrandparents are coming to deliver the lunch because since we’ve been here I’ve gotten physically ill (where’s the pukey smiley when you need it?) and somewhat lightheaded.
In about 20 minutes I’ll pack up the delivery bags and then go home and go back to bed.
Now those we keep inside, or rather, those small enough to squeeze through the cat door periodically invite themselves inside for a bowl of cat food. I suppose I could replace it with a bowl of cornmeal.
I have a decision to make. It’s a hard one. Do I make cornbread sticks or cornbread wedges for supper tonight. It’s a given that since dindin will be chili that cornbread must be served. I have pans for making cornbread sticks or the wedges. I’m thinkin’ the idea of little cornbreads that are crusty all over would be so good with chili. I just can’t decide which to make though. Why must my life be soooooooooooo difficult sometimes!
LiLi racoon can be done the same way. Ya know, what with gettin’ your oven fixed and all I thought you might want sump’n a little different. Sho I’m impressed! You can get cubed possum where you shop? How jake!
There you go makin’ stuff even harder! Geez Rebo! Baby cornbread muffins would be good… Know what though? I’m goin’ with the cornbread sticks. I like the way my pan makes 'em all crusty and crunchy on the outside. MMMMMMMM…
I am currently asking myself why I thought it was a good idea to be vertical this morning. I am feeling worse not better. I have a conference call in 20 mins then I am heading back to bed
Sorry BooFae I swear I didn’t sneeze or cough on the interweb lines to your computer.
I do think it is English germs I caught on the plane back to the US from being home for Christmas though…
Mmm. Cornbread muffins. Yum. I think I’ve got some homemade jam left, too. Sounds good.
The drugstore is two and a half blocks away! I’m not going for a hike. And most of what I’ve done this morning is read. If I bake something this evening, and spend most of the afternoon lying down, I think I’ve got taking it easy covered.
Wow. We can’t get cubed racoon or possum around here. What kind of fancy meat shops do you go to, Shoshana? rosie, I’m due on the 8th. I have an appointment on the 10th, wherein we’re going to start TMI natural methods to get the kid to come out, if he hasn’t yet. Not including castor oil. Ugh. My Feminine Intuition says Not This Weekend, but my Feminine Intuition is unreliable. I hope to have the kid early or mid next week.
There will be pictures, and I fully expect to notify the MMP as soon as I go into labour, and to the hospital. My midwife will think I’m demented. “No! Can’t leave yet! Have to tell Internet People I’m having the baby!”
