So I stop by the gas station on the way home last night, grab a bag of beef jerky and a bottle of Diet Coke.

I get about two miles down the road, open the coke, and throw back a gigantic gulp.

In about a half second, I’m retching out the window, pulling off the side of the road, thinking, shit, something’s bad wrong with this stuff, then I look at the bottle, and realise, No, it didn’t spoil during manufacture, and there isn’t a dead rat in it, CocaCola in it’s infinite wisdom MANUFACTURED it that way. Lemon Diet Coke. Ick. Who drinks this stuff?

I haven’t tried the Coke version yet, but I did end up with a lemon Pepsi a few days ago… having seen the ads for this product, I was eager to give it a shot (looked good to me at the time).

I took a big swig, and {BARFING smilie badly needed here!}

I think I’ll steer clear of the Coke version…:frowning:

I started a thread about this months back. I’m a big “Diet Coke with a twist of lime” fan, as any of my friends will attest. Needless to say, when I saw this stuff in the store, I got excited.

I’m convinced that Coca-Cola decided that actual lemon juice was too expensive… so they used Lemon Pledge. (It’s a soda! It’s a furniture polish! It’s BOTH!)

That stuff is nasty, with a capital “Na”. I can’t understand how it got past their taste-testers.

My wife loves the stuff. I’m with Lightn’ – who thinks it tastes more like Lemon Pledge.

We both routinely put lemon or lime in drinks, even water. The additive to Diet Coke is revolting.

Any food experts know what goes in to give the ‘alleged’ lemon flavor?

Do they still make Pepsi Light? Does anybody remember Pepsi Light? That was good stuff.

The Pepsi version we get here (“Pepsi Twist”) is made, so the label claims, with real lemon juice. Coulda fooled me. It smells like Lemon Pledge and tastes almost, but not quite, entirely unlike Pepsi or lemon juice. Astonishing, really.

Amazingly, I have a foot in both camps. I agree that the lemon (I think it’s the scent, not the flavor) is definitely reminiscent of Lemon Pledge, but I love the taste. I can guzzle gallons of the Lemon Diet Coke.

The Lemon Pepsi, though, I couldn’t even tell it was lemon flavored.

Occasionally the hubby picks up a soda for me to drink on the way home from work (1 mile trek from bus stop to home). Last week he picked up a Diet Coke (or so he thought) and when I got off the bus, he handed it to me for a swig… Without looking I took a big gulp and HEY!!! Where’s my Diet Coke??? It was the new Lemon Diet Coke.

True, whilst it doesn’t have a fresh real lemon flavour, it is quite nice. It is vaguely reminiscent of Lipton Tea with lemon…

Here in the UK, one is frequently served sodas and water with a hunk of lemon in it. It took me quite a while to get used to. Iced tea… yes, occasionally… Sodas… eh?

But anyhoodle, I do enjoy the Diet Coke with lemon. Haven’t had the Pepsi version, but then again, I’m not keen on Pepsi (especially Diet Pepsi :eek: )

I had Diet Coke with Lemon for the first time the other day, and I thought it was very good.

I don’t drink Pepsi if Coke is available, so I can’t comment on the Pepsi version.

I dislike diet Coke with lemon; if I wanted to drink diet 7 up with a Pledge kicker I’d mix my own, thankyeveddymuch.

Diet Pepsi with lemon reminds me of Diet Rite, and I used to like Diet Rite, so I like diet Pepsi with lemon.

Whenever we go out to eat my SO has always ordered Coke with lemon. I have it occasionally too. I tastes really good.

I am a big Diet Coke drinker, about 4 a night. As you can imagine I was happy to see the diet coke w/lemon that is 'til I TASTED it. Good god that was nasty, like drinking some sort of chemical.

I like the regular Pepsi with lemon in it. It tasted more like Coke than anything else to me.

Aren’t they coming out with Vanilla Coke and Berry Coke too?

Diet Lemon Cake tastes disturbingly like TheraFlu. Can we say vomit ?

I dring Diet Coke with lemon. And I’m not ashamed.

I like the stuff…a lot. Especially really cold in the 2 litre bottle.
