I like Aldebaran. He speaks the simple truth, artlessly and without embellishment. He also (usually) has very good manners, which I don’t see much of around here.

What has he said that isn’t true? Do you just hate him because he criticizes the US? Is the US above criticism? The cited quotes are basically true, aren’t they? What is it that you object to? Why don’t you actually address whatever you have a problem with head on instead of resorting to name-calling flames with no real substance or content?
I haven’t found anything objectionable in Aldebaran’s posts other than he doesn’t like the US invasion of Iraq and abhors the violence that has been done by Bush and his cronies for basically no good reason.
Americans constantly rip on other countries but they’re thin-skinned little pussies when anyone bashes America. Grow the fuck up already. The world doesn’t love the US right now and they sure as hell don’t like the idiot in charge.

Well, the truthfullness of many stements were called into question in one of hise early threads. I’ll get a link tomorrow. He claims to have like 5 master’s and speak15 languages.
Umm…I can’t see what the guy did wrong, apart from disagree with various posters. He sounds quite rational and polite. Am I missing something?
Other than his habits of constantly picking fights with other posters, treating any questions or counterarguments with condescension, assuming that everyone on this board is personally responsible for any US policy that he disagrees with, hijacking threads to rant about the evils of the US, and his general refusal to provide cites for any of his assertions, I’d say no, you’re not missing anything. 
That said, I don’t see much reason to Pit him yet again. The previous thread hit all the low points as far as this particular nutball is concerned.

Wow…I’ve taken to avoiding the poster in question, for the reasons that some of you have stated. For those of you who think he is nothing but polite and rational, find his first pitting, mere hours after his first few postings.
Eve, those quotes are fairly distressing. In my opinion, it’s people who think like that that cheered when the towers went down.
Not that I want to defend Aldebaran as I do believe that the best thing he could do most of the time is shut up but I’ll say a couple of things. I opened the link to the photos of people and children injured by the war and they are extremely disturbing. I chose not to post any comments in the original thread but to me it is very one sided of those who decry how bad Saddam Hussein was and at the same time discount the killings and the injuries done by the US forces. Those attrocities were committed by the US government in the name of democracy and freedom. I find it very sickening. So I think Aldebaran does have a point even if he is so fanatically sectarian that he comes out looking bad.

I think you misunderstood the quote about the children with “heads blown off” etc. Aldebaran wasn’t threatening to do that stuff to the US he was asking if anyone wanted cites for the US doing that to the children of other countries. Calling for his arrest by the CIA is a little over the top, IMO.
