From what I understand, it isn’t very difficult to become a mod here - it involves the complicated procedure of asking to be made a mod. The fact that there are lots of long-term posters who aren’t mods is simply an indicator that they don’t particularly want to be mods (since it is a pretty thankless-looking job), not that they can’t be mods.
There are no “hidden rules” that I’ve run into yet, in over six years posting here regularly. If you think there are “hidden rules,” I’m guessing you’re conducting your business here differently than I am.
Oh you say it, but it’s just not the same any more. You’ve done this before. The whole fake out flame out thing. You used to be pretty good at it. It’s different this time though. You’ve already been warned twice on this one just when you were warming up your whole misunderstood and outraged bit. You’ve had to soften your stance on the demise of the board thing. You’ve had to hedge your bets by bringing up suspension. I dunno. It makes the “I’ll be back next year” and “I won’t be banned” seem so hollow. You know you’re close to getting bounced and you haven’t even put in a full routine yet.
Wait, did this guy just make a serious comparison between getting banned from an Internet message board for repeatedly violating the rules of that message board and being lynched and/or executed? These things have… well, just nothing in common.
Reading this thread is making me doubt my own sanity. Aeschines, just between us, you don’t, like, believe this stuff, right? The things you’re saying in this thread? Because I don’t really think I can believe that you do.
No. What’s weird is that, now that I’m utterly blasted, this thread makes a lot more sense to me than it did when I was sober. Not the OP, mind – I understand a pitting of Aeschines – but the subsequent responses and ensuing conversation, including the various spinoffs of “yum yum moo moo”.
Aes…like I said before, I can appreciate an alternate perspective, and all told, I’m glad to see your posts in GD or anywhere else where you’re presenting your points in a genuine, straightforward fashion. I wouldn’t like to see you banned. To that end, I would ask that you examine your recent posts in the Pit, and ask yourself honestly whether you’re just trying to fuck with people. If you are, that means that either you’re disgusted with the place as a whole, or else you don’t view other posters (and, by extension, other people) as worthy of the effort of a sincere response…and either way, you serve yourself better by simply leaving than by degrading your own credibility to the point that those of us who respect you no longer can.
On the other hand, if I’m wrong, and you would like to remain in our company…then, for fuck’s sake, please chill out. Not everything is a personal attack. If you’re different, then be different, and be proud of it; present your views, consider those of others, and most importantly, recognize that it’s all an internet message board and none of it matters at the end of the day. Let me explain what happened in the Rsschen thread.
In Post #120, wring linked this thread to make a point but screwed up the coding.
In Post #123, I made a post where I merely fixed the link. I hadn’t even read the linked thread. I could just tell from the coding what the thread was supposed to be.
In Post #139, you accused me of threadshitting for making that post. This was an incorrect accusation.
Now if you are seriously so stupid that you can’t comprehend this, there is no point in having any further discussion with you. I don’t believe that we have interacted much if at all prior to this so my opinion of you was neutral when I made that first post. Again, get over yourself.
