Ageing up in the MMP

Well, the trip got cancelled. As did the afternoon practical, 'cos the greenhouses are a bit dodgy in this wind. Our schedule for the next week is now utterly mixed up; we’d swapped Wednesday and Friday’s classes to get the big slot for the field trip, but then as it got cancelled but we were all there for it, we swapped again for another class that should have been next Thursday. They’re all taught by the same lecturer, so hopefully she knows what’s going on.

I haven’t been to check on the bees, because it’s down a tiny little back road I really don’t think is a good plan to drive down in this weather. I’ve not heard from the site owner, who lives there and would have noticed if my hive was over, so I’m keeping fingers crossed they’re OK.

Glad folks with the more dramatic storms are OK!

I hereby declare that there have been far too many Mondays this week.

Lunch time!!

I filed an online claim. We shall see what happens from there. Also, slowly but surely gettin’ limbs and stuff up out of da yahd. The plan is to make a pile in the back yahd and haul stuff off next week. I am hopin’ it’ll be at least a little bit less crazy then. The county does not pick up such stuff so it is a do it myself thing. A fair bit of the fence should be salvageable it appears. Again, we shall see. A lot of the area is still without power but crews are out workin’ hard to get power restored as quickly as possible. Meanwhile, I’ve let some friends know that da cave is available for showers and such. Figure I can at least do that much since we have power.

I was watching the Iggles on the local Coyote network affiliate, at least until I started watching the inside of my eyelids. As some point I rolled over on the sofa & when I awoke it was some television preacher on.
“She sent in money & got a new job. <everyone> ‘Thank you, God’”
“He send it money & now he’s cured. <everyone> ‘Thank you, God’”

I reached around, found the remote…& the power button. “Thank you, God!”

Was planning on irking from home today as car is going in for lots of little stuff, but we have an all hands meeting at irk; eventually made it in on two wheels after a few fits & starts.

Swampy, glad to hear things are getting better. I’m sure cleanup will take a while, but it will happen. Glad your power’s on.

Butters, your event sounds amazing. Hope it goes off without a hitch and the kids love it!

Back from the one-day conference. Some of it was inspiring and motivating. Some of it was a sales pitch. Got some good ideas to bring back to the team and it was a refreshing day away from the office. Plus, with the travel time, I ended up putting in a longer day than normal, so I get to go home early today. And I normally leave early on Fridays… so now I’m done at 1:30!

Too much cleaning to do this weekend. Juliet Jr.'s birthday party is next weekend, and I won’t have time to prepare for the party and clean the house on Saturday… so we’re cleaning this weekend and (in angry Mom voice)*** IT’LL STAY CLEAN, DAMNIT!!***

Yeah, it’ll stay clean. Right.

I didn’t say I wouldn’t have to bust out the mom voice EVERY SINGLE FREAKING DAY to keep it clean, but if I can deep clean it this weekend, and really, really get on Juliet Jr.'s back about cleaning up after herself for her party, it’ll stay clean enough. If she’s motivated, she’ll clean. And her birthday party had better be some freaking motivation.

We had a tornado once across the river from downtown Pittsburgh; impossible! Until it happened of course. Mother Nature can be a real mother sometimes.

Like 52 and sunny; my Siberian tukas is using the motorcycle today!!!

I grew up in Florida and remember hurricanes, but I don’t remember them getting this bad. Glad y’all are safe and relatively unscathed.
All we get out here are earthquakes and the occasional very small tornado.

S’posed to be sunny and cool here for the next several days.
(Yes, I’m rubbing it in.)

Wifey’s office is hosting a pet adoption thing tomorrow and I think I’m going to go help wrangle dogs (and cats). These things are very dangerous for me as I usually want to take them all home with me. However, we have agreed that two is more than enough.

Happy Firday!

We get our deal of tornadoes here, too. We’re not quite in Tornado Alley, but close enough. Every summer we have at least a few that touch down in northeast Wisconsin.

Unless she doesn’t have the motivation; in which case she cry…if she wants to.

I now declare my work day over. Time to do my time card and go home… YAY!!

Howdy Y’all! I managed to muster enough strength to haul two loads of limbs etc. to the landfill. They usually charge three cents a pound, but are not chargin’ folks cleanin’ up after Michael, so, YAY! In other news we have supped and are now in chill mode. I’s tahrd so I foresee an early bedtime.

We supped at Cracker Barrel - I absolutely lurves their Friday Fish Fry!! And once we got home, I hit the shower. I felt so grungy because of the power outage this morning (we’re on a well, so no power means no water.) Now I’m showered and shampooed and dressed in my fuzzy robe.

Life is good!

Ronald Reagan on Wagon Train. 1963, color, ninety minutes. Holy Cow. The Fort Pierce Story. No chimps or missing body parts.

I made Mexican shrimp cocktail again. Hutch likes it.
I need to get the generator checked out tomorrow. I’d been running it every weekend, but I’ve neglected it for a month.

This guy was a President of the USA?

Worked, came home ,walked Gordie. Had a scientifically accurate Manahttan. Tonight’s dinner is chipolte BBQ chicken ,smkaed paprika rice, and roased corn with line and cillantro. Tomorrow is another Firday for me.

“IT’S THE INVISBLE MOLE PEOPLE!!!” -Gordie

God turned him into bacon?:dubious::smiley:

We get a bunch in N.C. Apparently God hates rednecks in single wides.

Sat outside for a bit today.
Was nice and N.O.S., a bit breezy and cool though. I should have put shoes on, my toes were cold.
No skeeters to pester me.

Been a lazy day, I should be ashamed of myself for being so lazy, but there it is.
I’m lazy.
I’m also really hungry, and I don’t know why.

We never did get any rain today as predicted. I hope it doesn’t rain tomorrow either, or at least holds off until we get groceries.

Next music lesson is one I will like - hard rock. Led Zeppelin, Iron Butterfly, and Cream.

Ripple has been wired all day. I don’t know if it is the cooler weather or if because I didn’t sit outside with him as much today.

50 degrees American tonight. I turned on the furnace, with the accompanying burned dust smell.
Proof of climate change; in Arkansas we used to run A/C in the day, the furnace at night during September, but now it happens in October!

The furnace, in Arkansas!? I ain’t running no stinkin’ heat til November. I like free A/C.
The cats are cold, though. Attached to me like velcro. I am a human heating pad. Such is my life.

66° here in S.Arkansas

His wife in Wagon Train is named Nancy. She has a drinking problem. He is an army officer. Nancy is sent away with the wagon train, where they expect to be massacreed by about a million Indians.
