The power went out again but now it’s back, hopefully to stay. I have some pictures of da cave yahd and the yahd at the church house over on the book of faces. Most of y’all know who I am over there. If you don’t and want to see, gimme a holler via pm.
Supper has been ingested. I need to get the dishwasher loaded. Other than that, evening chillage ahead.
It was a rough day - weird stuff going on with CREO. I’m hoping to get it all resolved tomorrow. We shall see.
Meanwhile, rain has started. Temps are supposed to plummet - FINALLY! It was mid-80s as I drove home, but we’re looking for mid-50s tonight and mid-60s tomorrow. Hope so…
sari, keep in mind, that the history of rock doesn’t begin with full blown R&R, nor does it end there. That’s why they call it history.
Glad you didn’t get an unbearable amount of damage swampy. You and OYKW stay dry, hear?
butters, the fall fest sounds like a lot of fun. For the military brats, you’re part of their community.
It went from summer to fall overnight. Yesterday was in the mid eighties and todays high was about ten degrees lower. I think that the dog park will get busier now that it’s not so stinkin’ hot. Old dogs, fat dogs and long hairs tend to hang out in the AC in the summer.
The Burly Butcher Sto’ was open so we went and got some chikin boobs which were grilled and sliced up over a sallit. That and some cheesey garlic bread made for a nice sup. Tomorrow I start to deal with stuff, insurance and all that there kinda stuff. Rah.
swampy, I’m glad to see you made it through the storm. I was worried for you and OYKW. Were you ever really scared?
We are getting the wrath of Michael in buckets!! It’s a full-blown toad soaker out there.
But we’re inside and dry, and I’m winding down for the night. <yawn>
I didn’t see a drop of rain from Michael, which surprised me as Gulf hurricanes usually give us a good soaking. Guess it figured FCM needed the rain more…
Soccer practice went well, but for the first time this season I was cold just wearing my shorts and shirt; wished I had put on something heavier. I guess i may have to take the old jacket off the hanger and start wearing it.
Now to continue the annual Schlock Mercenary start-to-finish cartoon reading (18 years of online comic strips).
metal mouse, we usually get a good soaking and some wind from the hurricanes/tropical storms west of us in the gulf, but only sometimes soaking rain for a week or so (like Flo) from the ones east.
Mr. Bear, did you have damage other than tree limbs down?
Forecast was for ¾-1" of rain today & another 1-2" overnight. When I left irk, the roads were still dry, as it hadn’t rained all day. It rained some whilst I was home before going running. I had about a mile to go & “I Love a Rainy Night” comes on the MP3 player. However, it did stay dry until I made it back to the brewpub. OTOH, I was the third car on the street. It was dry when I walked out but raining pretty good by the time I got out to my car & almost stopped by the time I walked back in.
Either way, I’m home fer the night. Got a lot to do, but a long day tomorrow & into the wickend.
As natural disasters go I would prefer to be a volcano. And that whole virgin thing is negotiable.
Much better. I relate that one to the aphid from Orange County Choppers. I’ve always been Michael or “please sir don’t shoot me”.
a) No but I have connections there if you positively don’t want to get anything ever again. Be more than happy to.
b) Sounds like AMZL-Hell to me but I would need to see one of your labels to be sure.
Speaking of irk ----- the ambulance had to come and haul off a new hire; guys first day in the building. Physicals are not required EVER and our motto is “your package is priceless to us; our employees not so much so”. The good part is ------ well there is none really. But there was a hiring event going on as this unfolded and I think several people rethought the wisdom of their application. So it looks like my job is secure for a while longer.
We don’t have hurricanes near where I live but we did get several severe tornadoes near here recently one day. And this is an area where that kind of thing is supposed to never happen.
I suspect this field trip may be off.
We’d be able to tie strings to some of the smaller students and fly them like soggy kites. There are trees down.
Just hoping the bees is OK, the spot they’re at is pretty exposed and I’d left an extra empty box on the hive 'cos I was going to put more food in it for them, which makes it slightly less stable. This is windier than the forecast led me to expect.
Our power went out sometime between 3:40 and 4:15. I woke to pee around 3:30, and since I was wide awake, I pulled out my tablet to play a game. At one point, I looked up and noticed the clock radio was off and the night light in the bathroom was out.
Fortunately, before Florence, I bought a couple of battery-powered LED work lights, and I brought one in to assist as I brushed my teeth and did a quick cold-washcloth “bath” but no shampoo for me - ick!
Unfortunately, our garage door is heavy and the opener is electric. I decided to take the truck, and as I drove it towards the side gate, I saw in the rear-view mirror what looked like a tree across the bed of the truck. A large branch had fallen - no idea if it did any damage to that end of the roof.
The outage was very localized - less than half a mile away, lights were on. I stopped at WaWa for gas and breakfast (more gas! ) and now I’m in the office. It’s quite chilly and very windy. **FCD **has a lot of work to do that requires power, so here’s hoping it’s restored soon. I reported the outage on the SMECO website and they claim it should be repaired by 11. I assume others reported it, too, since I saw at least 2 vehicles leaving the neighborhood as I was tending to Higgs.
Too much excitement. TGIF!!!
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work.
Happy Firday!
Didn’t sleep well last night. My son woke me at 1am because he heard noises in the back bedroom. I had to go with him to check it out, then I kept hearing noises and couldn’t go back to sleep. Toss in some weird dreams and a full bladder, I’m feeling rough this morning.
Don’t know what it’s like outside yet. It’s still dark and the dog hasn’t wanted to go out. We don’t need to go anywhere today. I ordered groceries last night to pick up tomorrow.
Hope your bees are okay Nut.
Hope your power comes back soon FCM.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 57 Amurrkin out and clear (well, dark) with a predicted high of 79 and N.O.S. for the day. I think I shall open da cave windows for a while later this mornin’. Always nice to be able to do that. Today I start dealin’ with insurance etc. and do some yahd cleanup since we did not yestiddy. No motivation was to be had then, so motivate I must. Spidey I know there’s some damage to the awnin’s over the back deck and the carport but not sure how much. There could be some roof damage (loose shingles and such) which is part of what I shall begin to find out today. For sure the fence will have to be replaced. I yanked some beast stew outta da freezer last night for tonight’s sup.
MOOOOOOM hope the power is back on soonest. I cannot say enough good about Jawja Power and how quick they got power back at da cave yestiddy.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day. Rah.
Happy Firday Y’all!
According to the outage map, there is no longer an outage at FairyChatEstates. Hope so - I assume **FCD **will call me eventually.
The weather folk weren’t kidding when they said the temps would drop!! HUZZAH AT LAST!!!
The sun is shining but it is quite chilly and breezy outside.
I won’t be sitting outside in shorts and a t-shirt today,
and there probably won’t be any skeeters to feed.
Since I’ve stopped taking Plavix my bruises are going away. I don’t look like I’ve been beat up anymore.
Change of plans. Since it’s supposed to rain from tonight until Wednesday, my nephew won’t be coming Moonday to do stuff around the house. I was hoping to get stuff done while Ripple was at the vet so he won’t get in the way.
Now we are looking at Toosday the following week.
Nothing ever goes as planned.
The wedding I wasn’t invited to is tomorrow. Now my mother doesn’t want to go, but it’s rude to accept a wedding invitation and not go. My niece is a bit miffed that her kids weren’t invited but her cousins’ kids were.
I’m glad I don’t have to deal with any of it.
Morning all. Slept past 7am today so it is already a success. Put on my old brown jacket for the first time this Fall to go retrieve the newspaper. Need to do some banking and shopping here in a bit, but sustenance first.
FCM, glad things weren’t and worse and swampy, good luck with the paperirk and insurance folks; I’m sure they’ll be busy in the next couple of weeks.
Sari, I also hear bumps in the night sometimes and get up to investigate, but never found anything so now I just roll over and go back to sleep. Haven’t been murdered in my bed yet…
Nut, hope the hives are OK.
Midget, tornadoes in Montreal area? That does seem off the beaten path.
