Whoops, missed our local weather since we don’t know what’s going on in Jawja…
Himmacane Michael will roll thru south of here today. High of 79°. 2-3" of rain total by tomorrer; windy but not even Tropical Depression level winds. IOW, not pretty, but not dangerous.
Howdy, I paid for 80 pumpkins. The guys are taking them to the car wash for a bath as they are dirty. I am about to decorate the Hay Ride wagon and tractor. I have to arrange the decorating supplies too. It is 88 F and muggy so it shall be a fun day. NOT!
Glad everyone is OK so far from the storm. I know of one Tree falling on house death in Florida and a Tornado related death in Jawja of an 11 yr old girl. Hope that is all.
I’m not expecting much here from Michael. I hear we are supposed to get 2 inches of rain.
It’s just gloomy outside, so glad I don’t have to go out.
The neighbor was supposed to fill the squirrel hole today but I doubt that will happen.
Spidey, I think there is more than one person on the list who is not rock.
You’d think I’d have a fainting couch being as I live in a Victorian. If I got one though, I’d prefer either the berry color or gold. I also want the arm on the left side, not the right. Maybe. Depends on where I’d put it.
It’s wet. You’re welcome.
Up ,caffeinated, and sheveled. Off again today. it’s starting to rain.
The weather’s changed a bit here after being weirdly hot yesterday, heavy rain and wind today, and supposedly worse tomorrow, thanks to Storm Callum. That shouldn’t be too bad, it’s not predicted to be dangerous, except I’m supposed to be doing an ecology field trip (our field trips are literal) and be outside most of the day, in horizontal rain.
Not ideal for careful measurements of plants and stuff, or being anywhere other than inside, frankly.
Hope everyone’s OK, 'specially those getting hit by Weather.
its been cool for here since the hurricane to be from a week or so ago fizzled out ………
Wow you wanna see the worlds biggest bunch of scammers look for a loan on line …….
Howdy Y’all! Power came back on about twenty minutes ago. We shut all da cave windows and reset some clocks. A/C is a wonderful thing! The power went out just after my last post yestiddy. Yay for Jawja Power and all the folks who have come in to help get power restored all over the area. We went and checked on OYKW’s place this mornin’. No damage to the house so that was good. Here at da cave, it blew down a huge portion of the privacy fence in da back yahd, and some of the awnin’ over the deck and carport blew down. Buncha limbs in da yahd but no downed trees. All in all coulda been a lot worse. Thanks for all the concern. Y’all are the bestest!
And now, especially for Spidey, 'tis 82 Amuttkin out and mostly cloudy. Tonight’s low will be around 58 Amurrkin. Now you know.
Glad the worst you have to deal with is some repairs and clean up Swampy.
It’s not hot outside but it is miserably humid.
I went out for some lunch and saw…
a man in a wheelchair, pulling a small trailer on which sat a claw-foot bathtub in which there was an American flag rolled around a flagpole leaning inside.
He seemed to be having some trouble. I thought I should offer some help, but I had no idea what kind of help to offer. I think a claw-foot bathtub may be too much weight for a wheelchair to pull.
I guess I should google how much weight can a wheel chair pull.
Wind and rain picking up here(75 degrees Amurikin ,15mph winds, moder.ately heavy rain)
Glad you’re repowered, and there only limited damage at Da Cave, swampy.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN I’M -------
Oh - you meant the hurricane. Never mind.
Well I did have a chili omelette for breakfast.
He ain’t alone.

Could we just change the name of the storm to Ralph maybe?
Thank Lord! Now I can go to work and destroy packages in peace knowing the weather down there.
Got the hayride wagon decorated. Bout died of heat stroke. Had to make a Home Depot run for some new scarecrows. We use them in a photo op area. We threw out the old ones last year as they had been used for a few years and were ready to be retired.
I am gonna head back out in a few and organize the decorating supplies. In addition to the hair and face parts we have feathers, pom poms, markers…I think that is about it. We used to supply paint and glitter but that was just too messy.
Everyone is supposed to bring a pumpkin but experience has shown that the active duty families will show up with four kids and one pumpkin so we just started buying a bunch to have on hand. We use them to decorate with and after this event the Single Sailor program or Youth will take them to carve.
In addition to pumpkin decorating and hay rides we have a rock wall, bounce houses, vendor fair, trunk and treat from housing, the fire dept will be here. Kids love fire trucks. The petting zoo will be here and the CPO will be cooking hamburgers and hotdogs for sale. Fun, Fun. When I first started the event I think there were `19 ppl the first year and now we get 700-800. Crazy. I know y’all just wanted to know all about my event.
Glad your power is back Swampy. Our local electric utility sent a group of guys and equipment to help.
Major activity of the day was ordering new referee whistles via Wonder Woman’s tribe (the ACME THUNDERER, made in England–my favorite whistle). Outside of that, not much. Did fix hamburgers for lunch, and the ‘visiting coach’ from Brazil is going to do a lot of my soccer practice–he’s a young, good-looking (as far as I know, what do I know about guys looking good) guy and I expect my 10-11 year old near-puberty girls to pay a lot more attention to him than they do to me…
May throw a nap into the afternoon, been waiting for my remodeler to stop buy and pickup his last check (some additions and overruns made it a little more than I planned, but still within the budget I set).
swampy, glad you and OYKW weathered the storm. Property damage can be repaired; human damage is a little trickier.
ruble, I made it through Hurricane David in 1979, you can take your lumps now…
Sari, like you, I would have wanted to help, but…how?
Stay dry nut.
Butters, I’d love to see the looks on the car wash folks faces when 80 pumpkins go through (I presume in the back of a pickup) the wash. You ought to get them the wax job while you’re at it…but is sounds like it’s worth it to the kids and folks that are all alone at that time. Y’all get rest tonight.
One of the radio stations I listen to around here is the jazz station from a local college. It’s amazing what some of these kids think they can call jazz.
Was it a motorized chair? I just stay outta their way. They’re vicious.
I’ve been calling it Mikey. How does that suit ya?
We went to watch grandson play water polo last night. The sound of whistles in an inside pool can be piercing. We still aren’t sure what’s going on but we were told one weird thing; if a team gets too far ahead of the other team they can be penalized for ‘rubbing it in’ so to speak. Seems like that could be demoralizing to have the other team obviously try not to score.
I always wanted to try water polo, just couldn’t find a horse snorkel.
Thank you!
…& miraculously, my heart palpitations have now ceased.
Lunch finally showed up (they didn’t bring one of the bags); I washed it down & helped clean out the fridge by using up one of the exotic, out-of-state beers that was in there.
You have anything to do with North Little Rock? :dubious:
" We’re sorry your package is late
We’re working with the carrier to get your package back on track, and we’ll let you know when your package is out for delivery.
Please come back Saturday if you still don’t have it and we’ll help you out.
Was expected Tuesday, October 9 "
glad swampys still there sos I can bum one of those banquet meals he talks about cookin one of these years
seriously as someone whos only encounter with a disaster is when the northridge quake knocked my sega master system and the accoutrements off the shelf and when I went to pick it all up I stepped on my very rare and very expensive 3d game glasses smashing them to pieces and making 10 games unusable ………. (those glasses were 90 bucks back then now they go for hundreds of dollars in good condition………)
glad yall are ok
oh I forgot the time little bro was 5 years old playing with a lighter and caught moms straw tiki thing that hung on the door on fire …. no one knew about it until I went in to pee and akmost walked in to the flame …
Doug, is that you?
