Actually, I’m pretty sure that our Moderator Agreement says something about this, in that we can’t do such things. It’s been a while since I’ve read the thing, and I’m not even sure that I have it on this computer. But we are limited in what we can and cannot do.

It is a bit offensive to a gay person. The easiest way to tell is to substitute another word.
Would it be funny if you said “Now sickle cell anemia free” or would that be offensive. If you think that is offensive, then yes it’s offensive.
I would have that ad removed if I was a SDMB admin. You can easily remove anyone from placing an ad on your site through AdSense (Google Ads)

Possibly offensive to people with AIDS, but to gay people? Come on.
The best way to disarm a stereotype is to distance yourself from it, ie, if someone mentions AIDS only, don’t get upset on behalf of gay people, that just serves to keep the link in people’s minds.

Don’t make me go back there! Oh, he’s all kind and friendly here, but over there he makes us do - things. Terrible, disturbing, forbidden, erotic things.
If that extends offboard, then I think that is excessive. Remember, what we are talking about didn’t occur on Giraffe’s board or our board. I would hope that, if something made you mad, there’d still be a place you could vent, so that your moderation could be as free from bias as possible.
I’m actually curious what your mod agreement says that would involve the Giraffe Board, since you (and I think most of the others) became a mod well before it existed.
