With the upcoming holiday season and plans for parties, just thought I would run a quick poll to see what drinks are needed at a large party. You can vote multiple drinks (once the poll us up and running).
I drink beer, I drink wine, I drink mixed drinks, and straight shots. I’m a really easy guest to please.
Clarify: all of them are of course nice. Is this about the minimum to keep people happy? The drinks that I, personally, prefer to have available? Casual party with friends/family, or catered work event?
Other: personally, it’s not a party without at least one bottle of ether. :dubious:
I am of the “if you can’t drink it straight, don’t drink it” school. Good craft beer, good small-batch bourbon (neat or with a splash), occasionally a good wine with dinner. No mixed drinks. No flavored liquors. I lived through the sody-pop wine era and am disgusted to see it return as the sody-pop booze era.
My wife drinks wine and, very rarely, a Cosmopolitan.
I love bourbon, and craft beers, but I stick to beer for…you know, drunk reasons.
I like (craft) beer but it gives me horrible heartburn. I didn’t always have a problem with it but a few years ago it got to the point where I’d have a few sips and I could already feel the acid bubbling up in my throat and I’d be in pain for the rest of the night. I’ll still give it a shot from time to time, but but my default drink is a Beefeater Tonic.
Female-Can’t stand beer, don’t care for wine. Mixed drinks are the only thing that can make any kind of alcohol taste remotely palatable.
Well, and mead. I loves me some mead. But that’s hardly on a standard menu.
Male. At a party, I’ll drink beer if it is available. I enjoy vodka and gin drinks too, but don’t like mixing them at parties if I’m doing the mixing. Too much of a temptation to overpour.
few kinds of beer (a mass market, a light, a pale ale, and a dark/stout is what I’d have on hand,) hooches and mixers for standard stuff (gin & tonic, martini, rum & coke, etc.) and a few different wines.
you’re not a bar, so no need to go all out.
I’m pretty easy to please, I’ll drink anything but fruity drinks mixed drinks.
My go to drink is Jim Beam & Dr. Pepper. If I have money to throw around Markers Mark with a little ice is perfect.
My standby has always been Guiness for the men, Labatt’s for the women, and Coors for the children.
I prefer mixed drinks, but I’ll most likely consume whatever it is you provide at your party.
I love quality microbrews for beer, ales moreso than lagers. So if that’s available, that’s what I’ll drink first. I also like wine, so that’s good. Cheap wine is better than cheap beer if that’s what’s being served. I can do mixed drinks, but prefer beer or wine.
M/All 4…Depends on mood and situation.
Goto = beer generally…not any particular either.
As far as parties…
1 Vodka - Sky
1 Gin - Beefeater
1 Whiskey - Jack Daniels
1 Bourbon - Makers Mark
1 Brandy/Cognac - Hennessy
1 Tequilia - Cuervo
1 Coke
1 7-up
1 Orange Juice
1 Grapefruit Juice
1 Red Wine - Pinot Noir/Merlot
1 White Wine - Chardonnay/Riesling
…this reminds me why I don’t hold parties…f this…
Buy $50 worth of beer and you’ll be fine…generally.
I put all of the above. I like and drink beer the most. I enjoy cocktails or a nice whiskey, straight. I don’t buy wine for myself usually unless I have a girl over. When I’m at my parent’s they have wine frequently so I drink wine with them.
Whiskey for the men, wine for the women, and beer for the horses.
Beer to start. After 3 or more, I have to pee all night, and it starts to taste like pee.
Red wine from then on once we’re eating.
Mixers and shots are only if I’m really partying hard. In this case, I’d go from beer to shots, skipping any idea of wine. Then beers only for chasing. Someone take my car keys.
I can’t drink beer since I gave up smoking. I’ve never cared for wine, so mixed drinks for me.
Or just diet soda and a little weed actually.
Never yet met a beer I thought was fit for human consumption, and I’m not particularly fond of gin or vodka, but I’ll drink just about anything else.
And add cider to the list!
