Hmm…unique monsters healing themselves. Not good.
Dang! Two days of playing D2 (beat Diablo first time EVER on the 4th) and I didn’t even know 1.10 was out!!! Argh! Oh well. I’m about to have some fu-un.
1.10 isn’t official yet, that’s a public beta test. I hope those regenerating uniques are caused by a bug.
Bumping.
Jeff, get yourself a poison charm - that should take care of the regeneration. Word on dii.net is that 1.10 is extremely difficult in Hell mode - finally. However, once people start getting the top items and such, it should scale down a bit.
Anyone want to burn a copy for me and send it? I don’t have a connection at home, and I can’t dl it at work. I’d be happy to send you a SASE.
I was playing as a Sorc in Nightmare; I don’t think Poison charms would help much. She had a hell of a time just beating unique Brutes, like the one guarding the Tree of Inifuss. Andariel, Duriel, Diablo, and nearly all the Act V quests would be damn near impossible! If this isn’t a bug, I’ll pass. :sad
I popped into Hell, act V, with my lvl 65 sorceress. Ran into CATS (from act II) throwing spears. Umm, ouch. Ouch. OUCH. Hit them with cold orb, guardian, and thunderstorm, and they didn’t fall down.
I think I’ll be starting some new characters, once I get a chance to read the readme…
1.10 seems to be geared toward BNet players, not those like myself who prefer to go it solo.
Get a mal rune, it prevents monster heal…
MALs won’t work with spells. I’d recommend putting some poison on a merc.
As far as I can tell, playing a 1.09 character with the 1.10 patch is asking for lots of hurting. The difficulty of NM and Hell has definitely been scaled to take into effect the increased rates of good drops. I’ve started a new character, a Druid, in Normal, and I’m having a blast. I’ve seen a lot of good equipment drop, and I feel pretty confident that I’ll be ready for NM when I get there. So far, I’m near the end of Act II and he’s already up to lvl 24.
They also seem to have removed the “players N” thingie, so I can’t use resistance training to level up (with 1.09 set to 8 players, I can be 25th level by the end of act 2…).
Players X still works, you just have to type “/players X”.
I’ve been messing around with an elemental druid in 1.10. Is it just me or does the new skill system seem to encourage more teamwork? I’ve noticed, at least on the druid skill trees, that the only way to get really obscene damage is to concentrate on a relatively small set of skills…in my case, fire. It seems that the designers are encouraging the development of player teams of specialists rather than generalists…particularly in light of what I’ve heard about Hell difficulty.
This is a good thing, imo, but kind of a bummer for sp.
I love the beefed up monsters, btw. I haven’t feared archers this much since Diablo 1.
Ethilrist: I’ve been playing mostly with /players set to 3.
slortar: I’ve been doing the same re:Elementalist, and I agree, to a point. My Druid has actually been doing rather well with 1 point in most skills in the Elemental tree, and 1 point in most of the summons. But this is only in Normal, and I’m used to playing in NM and Hell in 1.09. I’m expecting NM to be very difficult, and Hell to be insane. But I’m looking forward to it.
My 1.09 sorceress got pasted in Hell, and my 1.09 paladin was really struggling in NM, but I think a lot of that has to do with not starting from the beginning. Guess I’ll see in a few more days.
This is very exciting. I had gotten so bored of the infinite boss farming with my 90+ lvl characters in v1.09. I didn’t need that last Buriza. Somehow I let all of my characters expire.
So as soon as the patch comes out for closed bnet, will anyone be up for some old-fashioned, tweak-free teamplay?
Maeglin, I’m down for that. I like playing online much better than SP. seems kinda pointless if you can’t show off your skills to other people
Excellent. I used to be *SinisterMonk and *DesertFather, among others. If I can get them back, I will.
OK, I’ll try again and switch mercs this time. She went through III, IV, and V Normal and I Nightmare with an Iron Wolf.
Elzix or Fara should have something useful to equip the new Dezert Warrior. Or maybe one of the items I saved with Shadowmaster.
Now this is better. My merc has been killed a few times but Zukala the Sorceress hasn’t been killed at all. Fara had a great poison weapon for sale but the Alhizeer needs to level up a couple times before he can use it.
BTW: though her skills are pretty much balanced, I tend to rely on the Frozen Orb and Firewall.
Oh, and damn good thing merchants now sell mana potions!
