Cool! Pattern weapons!

Oh, and a disclaimer from the same page.

if you want to see the 1.10beta runewords

http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/items/runewords.shtml

Yeticus Rex well prices are varying between realms.

IST and VEX are quite difficult to find, not impossible like a ZOD. Trading for them isn’t an easy thing to do either. With the items you listed as possible trade bait, I’m thinking that you don’t have the buying power for either an IST or VEX.

Best way to search for IST or VEX is doing Hell Difficulty Countess runs. She can drop VEX, in.09d. She can also drop IST, but VEX is the rarest rune she can possibly drop.

If you don’t know where the Countess is, she’s in Act1 quest4, in the Tower quest located in the Black Marsh.

Soj’s or Stones of Jordan are garbage in terms of trade value. They’ve been overduped and lost all inherent value they had for trading. Gems will not net you either a VEX or IST, unless you have a boatload of gems and I don’t recommend trading more than a trade screen full of gems cuz you can get ripped off.

Jalal’s mane isnt near the worth of IST or VEX either, so best way to get either rune is to do Hell Countess Runs, do Cow runs and hope to get lucky (i’ve found 3 ists under rocks and in chests).

Or you can wait when 1.10 comes out and save an IST and VEX (when you do get them) for the new runewords.

SILENCE isnt as great as the 1.10beta runewords, although it has a nice +75 all resists modifier, decent damage, decent speed and more.

also SILENCE runeword can be equalled in damage using cruel bows, or even a Buriza. VEX and IST aren’t worth wasting in my opinion.

Oh well, good luck completing the runeword

Ok, so they let us have a singleplayer version of 1.10…

Not good enough! Gimme the whole thing darn it!

Have you tried it out yet?

In my estimate they’re gonna have this patch ready in a year or so… there are way too many bugs in this 1.10beta.

one of note that I encountered is the mana per kill bug.

it gives way more than +1 mana per kill. for every +1 you have on you get like +6 mana per kill. I have a hybrid zon I made from scratch using guided arrow and lightning fury. This bug made it very easy to get to lvl72 using lightning fury. And this was with crap javelins being thrown.

Oh and man is Hell Difficulty really hard. I can’t really handle all those acher types hitting me with massive dmg. thank god for my valkyrie and decoy. and my might merc saves me from dying quick deaths.

I think 1.10 is going to be really really difficult to play solo. It is possible but hard in hell.

I’m planning on testing out a “from scratch” barb now. I hope I don’t get raped by duriel in Normal Difficulty. I’ve read numerous stories of him being evil to melee types. My zon had an okay time using a Zephyr composite bow on him and chuggin rejuvs for my merc. I’d hate to see what he’s going to do to my barb…

Yeah, I played the beta. I just really don’t like playing single player so I got rid of it and went back online.

I noticed that Hell was really hard, but I figured that the new items and what not had been ramped up as well. I know I was finding some great items in single player. So if you start out a new character, you should be able to find enough stuff to survive to the end.

Hard in Nightmare too, which is why I reverted to 1.09 again. Blizzard evidently has said they still need to work on the gameplay balance. I’m hoping the final version will be improved to a point where 1.09 characters can get by without spending most of the time running back to town to resurrect their hirelings.

Wow, “Breath of Dying” is a pretty impressive runeword. Now I need to looking for that impossible to find ZOD rune…

I do have my 6-socket crusader bow half way done, and I will start giving the countess “All Of My Love” over and over again!

Thanks Madawc!

As for the balance of gameplay and the new runewords (many of them with triple digit ED modifiers, maybe they want us to spend more time in normal and nightmare to get enough runewords together to take on hell again, essentially adding a forth tier of play (normal 1.09, nm1.09=normal 1.10, hell1.09-nm1.10, hell1.10).

Just a wild ass guess.

The thing is, with the new high-level runewords and the cube recipes all the way to Zod, they’ve basically wrapped up the game in a nice package with a ribbon and addressed it “From: Blizzard North. To: Cheaters”. No legitimate player is going to ever be able to upgrade to Zod. To illustrate: Over the course of getting a character to level 91, one to 80, and several to lower levels, I have accumulated:

12 thul
49 amn
5 sol
6 shael
3 dol
3 hel
3 io
3 ko

plus assorted minor runes. Now, I’m sure that many of you have more than that, but if I wanted to upgrade my way up to Zod, I would need over thirty thousand times that much. And of course, I can’t exactly count on finding a Zod, either, unless they’ve greatly changed the odds. I could trade, but finding enough loot to trade to get those runes isn’t going to be much easier than just finding the runes. The only way a legit player is going to get high-level runewords is to be exceedingly lucky, or to spend piles of real-world money to buy the trades.

On the other hand, a duper can easily use the new rune upgrades to get any rune he wants, without ever needing to have two of the same dupe in a game at once. Which nicely avoids the anti-dupe measure of making dupes in the same game dissappear. So anybody who dupes will have a Breath of the Dying weapon (and Enigma armor, and… You get the point), and Blizzard won’t even be able to do anything about it.

It is funny how pathetic the runes are from drops. They need to either ramp up the drops of higher end runes from certain bosses or just let a boatload of EL’s drop hehe.

The whole new runeword and new uniques are junk to me. When will we ever get to those items in Ladder play? Most of those items are high level stuff and even the old Elite uniques are crazy. When will we ever get to use a Cranium Basher of LvlReq 87 with the new experience handicaps? They thought they made the game better, but in fact made ridiculous changes without playing the game in its entirety.

The original beta testers and programmers just cheated and made chars with every gear possible and thought that this method of testing would be fine… they knew that they were way in over their heads. they knew they needed more help, and that being 1.10beta for all. We as the fans can find the bugs more readily, we as the fans who play the game from scratch would see a more diverse cross-section of the game, we as the fans can tell them where to improve things. That’s why I feel that this is going to take a year or so. 1.10beta is majorly screwed up with bugs and balance issues.

Yes, I know that Hell Difficulty should be hard.
Yes, I know that making level99 chars should be near impossible.

But all the new changes were not at all thought thoroughly. There needs to be better stats on the normal uniques, there need to be better low level runewords. There should also be a better LevelReq determination on crafted items (none of these lvl89 +2 skills amulets or lvl87 high leech rings). When in the hell are we supposed to get to lvl87 with the handicaps?

And what is up with the lie that they say the bosses drop good items the first time you kill them? Every time I killed a boss with much effort and town portalling, all i got was a boatload of crappy rares.

My lvl72 hybrid zon, found Endlesshail double bow in a chest Nightmare cows. A Tal’s mask in NM bloody. The rest of my gear was crap, crafts that were crap, rares that were crap. My stash was full of gems and crappy runes. From El to ITH. My Nightmare countess runs got me nothing but runes from El to Ort, my Nightmare Hell forge netted me a shael or something more common. They need to have some sort of minimum on these quests, I hate seeing such utter crap from such difficult monsters.

The whole thing about dupers benefitting isn’t that true because most would play on the Ladder option in my opinion. It is true that they will get to test out the new runewords easier on normal realms and not Ladder, but most action will occur in Ladder.

Oh and the thing about these hacked items…

Do you know why Blizzard is making Ladder Realm? because it’s their cheap ass way of dealing with the bugged items. They’ll assume that everyone will flock to Ladder to clean realms. Ruststorm is just a front, a scare tactic. they have no way to rid the realms of all the duped runes, pre.08 rings (dual leech or SOJ), .08 items or whatever. They’ll probably have a solution to ITH items and that’s about it and that’s just a minor piece of all the crazy bugged /hacked crap out there.

I am really disappointed with the way 1.10 is coming, testing the beta and waiting for it for so long. Their intent was to make the game like how it was in the Classic D2 days, but what they did was just screw the whole game up…

enough of my rambling on what they did wrong, at least I’m still enjoying the game with all the bugs and negatives about it.

A “duper”?

How does one dupe an item without getting banned by Blizzard? I knew how in Diablo 1, but the “Toss the item to be duped on the ground, and grab a potion from your belt as you pick up the dropped item” method doesn’t seem to work and since apparently Blizzard insta-bans people running hacks…
Fenris

PS: What’s up with Duriel? (I think…the sort of crab-thing at the end of level 2)

I’ve done 75+ item runs on Nightmare with a character who has about +140% on Magic Find and he’s never dropped anything better than low-grade blue-item crap. I’ve gotten better stuff from the Countess, the Councillers (from level 3) and Andariel.

Baal isn’t all that wonderful about dropping good stuff either.

He just sucks ass on drops. ALWAYS. It’s almost a standing joke. In fact, it is a standing joke. See this entertaining column:

http://diabloii.net/columnists/flux08.shtml

Baal, on the other hand, is pretty good on average. I suspect you’ve just had some bad luck here. Unless you’re playing the 1.10 beta, which has drastically changed boss drops.

Me, I’m single-player all the way, so barring a major shake-up from beat to final, I’ll be sticking with 1.09.

  • Tamerlane

Fenris, duping is extremely common on the realms. I don’t know how they do it, but they do. There’s a reason why there are a bazillion 40/15 jewels out there, and it’s not because they’re being found.

Chronos, just to add to your rage, I’d mention that runes, like other white items, don’t have a fingerprint on them, and thus the game cannot detect if they’re dupes or not.

I feel better.

The best drops I get are from…whatshisname…end of level three, Durance of Hate.

Mephisto.

Knew I couldn’t be the only one.

I have two PCs at home with D2X installed, only one of which I use regularly. When the final is out, I’ll try it out on my old P3 and see if I like it.

Bah! 1.09 with all their fancy “elemental charms” and “magic-find”!

1.07 is where it’s at! Where you need 10,000 mf to get a decent item, where jewels are crap, runes are near-impossible to find, and the monsters regen like no tomorrow.

But we do have rack-running and damage charms.

Y’know, I’m loving this version to death. I have an 81st level Necro in Act 4 Hell and still having a blast. The game balance just feels…right…to me. Drops are pretty damn good, level advancement is steady (at this level, my character build is pretty much done so it’s all gravy and item-hunting for me…).

Obviously, there are some bugs I’d like fixed, but I think 1.10 was worth the wait for me.
