I had played that single character for more than two hours. But when I went on this morning the countdown was gone…so maybe my account was just bugged somehow.
galrion, read the stickied post on battle.net. It’s 3 pages long, has a post by gfrazier, a Blizzard representative, and discusses the issue. There are plenty of other people who saw the same thing you did. It doesn’t refer to the ladder.

We usually play on USEast in the non-hardcore ladder now. Try to Join a game called “sdmb” with the password “cecil” If there isn’t one already, make one of your own and people will find you.

Just started a zon, played her a couple of hours up to lvl 18. I’ll keep playing my druid, he does fairly well alone in games but it’s getting tough keeping him alive during any melee while there’s 7 or 8 people in the game (he’s up to Act 5 NM now). What my plan is… whether it works or not, I don’t know, is to play the druid in nm SDMB games and try to find some decent equipment. Playing him in open games hasn’t really netted me much equipment at all.
Hopefully I’ll find something halfway decent to use… preferably with leech…
Latest news on Rocky the elemental Druid, who is now lvl33 and in Act V Normal.
Killing Lister was damned hard but doable; I took him down over the course of 15 minutes by repeatedly hiding behind my bear and poisoning him, then unleashing Fissure right under his feet.
Baal, however, seems to be impossible (at least in SP) - I just can’t dent him. Does anyone have any advice?
Yes, get help…
Baal was tough, very tough when I’ve seen him. It took me and a party 10 or 15 minutes to kill him, and we had a pretty good variety of skills.
If he’s only single player (not on the realms), I’d suggest blood runs…a lot of them. Level Rocky up. Find better equipment, get your spells stronger, get more life. Baal’s not impossible, only very, very, hard.
I don’t think I dealt with Baal before level 40 with my Paladin. What sort of stats and equipment do you have for Rocky? Baal can be dealt with SP, and my Paladin didn’t have too much trouble. That was in large part because I was able to get in close to him and keep him very busy. I’m not certain exactly what tactics I would use with a caster.
I finally made a ladder character, a p/b necro, and have levelled him to about 15 this morning.
This is the first time in ages that a character of mine has been tweak-free, and it is a rather strange experience. My necro should be wearing Sigon’s Complete Steel right now and wielding a low level unique wand. But he’s not, and I am hurting.
Since there are a whole bunch of us on East, we might as well compile wish lists of gear to facilitate trading. Either that or just post your goodies that you are willing to trade. Think this is a good idea?
For my 20th lvl Amazon, my request is simple: A four-six socket socket enhanced or elite bow (I wouldn’t mind having some p.saphires, p.rubies, p. topazes and p.emeralds to go with it)…I noticed that gems seem to be hard to come by.
Wouldn’t mind having one for my merc either…but I won’t be greedy about it.
Iampunha and Galrion…nice trottin around with you guys last night…too bad my computer (physical memory dump) and Diablo (threatening to shut down the server) thought differently.
Yeticus: gems, hard to come by? Are you playing 1.10? Perhaps you’re using them all to create potions of full healing, or cubing them for who-knows-what recipe? Seriously, I had to make a mule character just to hold my spare perfects. Try running around Act V/normal in players8 mode. You’ll get enough normal gems to make a serious pile of flawless/perfect gems. And a fabulous assortment of El, Eld, Tir, Nef, and Eth.
I have been seriously impressed by the increased intensity of this new patch! Hell difficulty is truly difficult (for my cold/fire sorc) without party members, but with a party, and good communication, and decent mercs, we’re making slow, enjoyable progress!

I have, and triggered it somehow. This was the method I took and ended up having Diablo walks the earth message pop up.

it took 17soj’s to get the msg, I tihnk there might be a shorter possible route. I tried to test this same exact method in another game but it didn’t work, but the thing was and in hindsight, my friend who made the game in which UberD appeared made the second game. This means that no matter what we did in the second game, the probability that UberD to re-appear was nil. He was on the same server that we got the world event a game earlier. What we should’ve done was to get me to make a game, or get him to leave diablo2 and re-enter d2 on a different server. I don’t know how you can get on a different server, but you nkowthat msg that says “connecting to fastest server” when u hit the battle.net button on the main menu screen? I think it has something to do with that. So if you leave d2 and re-enter, you will most likely get on another server, in theory.
I have a theory that needs to be tested that requires less than 17soj’s being sold and want to test it out, but I’m now soj deficient. Any of you guys out there have any worldevent triggering stories? Stories other than sheer luck of making a game and seeing uberD? stories like mine, where you actively pursued the world event and ended up getting it triggered?
I’ll be back, once I test my less soj dependant method, and re-test my 17soj method. Any world event tips would be welcome.
btw My annihilus is rather crappy, +1skills/15allres/15all attributes/6%more exp… but I’m glad I got my unique small charm. Oh and UberD isn’t that hard hehe, my level99 berserker barb took him out rather easily. Just drank 6full rejuvs cuz of lag related worrying.
Well, if you have soj’s and want to test my 17soj method, be free to try it and I hope you get the Worldevent triggered as I got it to. The reward is good, so good luck on ur UberD battle.

I have about a ton of gems. I can’t seem to find any decent runes though!
And Socketed weapons and shields and such are a hard score as well. I have yet to find a three socket shield! I used to trip over the damn things and there hasn’t been one in 36 levels!

I was just telling you my worldevent story, in which i actively pursued in the triggering of it.
I’m doing ok for my character at the moment, I don’t have anything spectacular, but I’m not hurting either. I do have a rare amulet with +1 to elemental skills (druid only), faster cast rate, + to mana and few other mods. So if anyone is interested, they’re welcome to it. I think the clvl was 15, but I can’t be sure.
You don’t know that you triggered it until you do the same thing again and it triggers again.
Re Rocky’s equipment; I’m going to pick up a decent poison-damage bow and level up a bit before trying again. I read back through the thread and noted that EDs are supposed to be better with bows, so I’ll give it a whack.
Well, we had a regular Dopefest last night on USEast. Six of us running around killing things!
I’ll be on most of today if nothing comes up. I’ll be either on my numbnut3 account or numbnut1. I want to get my druid into hell and try to pick up scraps from higher level characters and imbue them to try to get better equipment. I also want to level my zon into NM.
