All Diablo2 Talk here.........

To be agreed upon by the Exterminator prior to the hunt, of course.

I’m not sure what kind of market you’ll find for this though. Most people who actively look for IP games have characters who can handle the clone, or else they wouldn’t be actively looking. It’s more likely that the people who need your services accidentally stumble upon a clone game while questing in hell. Still, you might get a few people who know how to look but don’t have a clone killer character. The biggest problem you’ll face there is trust though – most people aren’t going to trust some guy from chat to come into their game and kill their clone for them without stealing it.

theckhd, I tried whispering you but you probably were sitting in a game waiting for DC to spawn. I got a pul rune from my nm forge with the sorc. It’s yours if you still need it. The sorc is up to level 68 now.

It’s funny though, I went for a fire sorc but I wanted to max FO also. FO turned out to be what I’m using most so far. It’s been killing better than Fire Ball and meteor is too slow to use solo.

I’ll give the pul to you, Chronos or Yeticus when I see one of you guys next. I figure one of them will have a better chance of catching up to you than I will.

I’ve noticed a fair number of times someone popping into chat to ask for help with the clone. The problem with this, of course, is that your chances of getting a charm out of it basically go down to one in 8. By contrast, using my services, the customer would be guaranteed to reap the spoils. And there have to be a lot more folks in Hell than there are folks who can handle the clone solo (or with their group of friends). So I figure that there would be a market.

As for the trust issue, I think I have that worked out, too. First, from across the screen, I briefly drop my Annihilus and pick it up again, to show that I have one and therefore can’t grab another. Then, I take the Clone down to half life, to demonstrate that I’m capable of doing it. At this point, the customer pays. Now, I could just run off with their item at this point, but I have no incentive to do so: If nothing else, sticking around to finish the Clone off would give me a some easy experience points. So they can trust me to finish the job. Then, I kill the Clone, they come pick up their charm, and I leave.

And of course prices would be subject to agreement. Some exceptional items are far better than some elites: I’d far rather have a Skullder’s Ire than a Razor’s Edge, for instance. And some rings and amulets (which aren’t really normal, exceptional, or elite) would also be a fair deal. The idea is just that some schmo who’s just gotten to Hell and is struggling through the Den of Evil isn’t likely to have Ber or Vex to trade, but he probably has something half-decent to offer nonetheless.

Who_Me, it depends on your synergies. If you’re willing to dump the 80 skill points to fully max fireball, it becomes the ultimate killer. I do about 10k damage per fireball, and double that with meteor (the same skills max both fireball and meteor). The downside is that this gives you very little flexibility: There’s not enough points left over to build anything else to respectable levels, so you’re useless against fire immunes. If I meet any while going solo, I use a level 1 glacial spike to freeze them while my merc chops them up, but as you can imagine, this is very slow.

You could, chronos, get in the game, trade the charm for the elite item, them have them leave. Since you won’t have a charm anymore, you can pick up the one that drops. Obviously, you’d want to go into the game with a low stat charm to do this.

GameSpy is runing a sort of March Madness … but for computer/video games. D2 is in the Elite 8 facing off against Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Go vote!

I haven’t gotten the wireless router yet … not for lack of funds, more because I’m busy doing other stuff; I work heavy hours on Tuesday and some on Thursday, so I can’t be up until 6 AM playing D2 anymore. I’m currently bingeing on Civ3 Expansion.

I would be careful dropping the Anni on-ground because some folks have auto-grab, which will automatically pick up any item they want it to (most have it set to uniques, from what I know, though I’d guess it could be calibrated only to pick up runes, or only charms, or whatever).

[sub]If I got into trading issues or build issues or whatnot I’d be awake until 4:30. I have work and I have school later today, so that would be unadvised.[/sub]

Hm. It’s a snow day so I don’t have to work today. If anyone is interested in playing on USEast, send me an IM (BluMunk). I’m trying to beef up my druid (am on act 5 in Nightmare).

Hello SDMB Diablo’ers!

I have been following this thread on and off for a long time now. You guys are hard core (no pun intended, heh) that’s for sure!

I would love to play some games with you guys. How can I join in the fun? I saw somewhere that you guys play in games named “SDMB”. Are they password protected? If so, what is it? - I play on the US East realm, HCL only, usually b/t 11PM and 1AM.

My beloved Cleric “Avonus” recently died a horrible death in the Flayer Jungle, so my Booyaka Barb “Kalec” is front and center now. What is a Booyaka Barb? Read all about it here.

Hope to see you guys around!

I would imagine that having low-ish (under 50) resists for that sort of barb would be doable, since you can’t get hit by damage when you’re airborne.

The password for our games is always “cecil”, but I don’t think most of us play hardcore (I sure as heck don’t; I think my record level before first character death was about 12). Besides, you of all people should know that when you’re going mano-a-mano against the Lord of Evil, it’s good to have a second chance ;). I don’t know if there are any hardcores on East, though, since I’m West.

As for being shot down in midair, I’ve seen it happen, both on my own characters and those of others. Admittedly, this might just be a lag issue, so maybe if you spend the bulk of your time leaping, you’ll be hard to hit.

Damn this payroll…

You don’t so much get hit midair, as you leap after your dead.

As for resists, I’d pump them, since you’re shieldless.

Noobs and Lurkers…click the link and get into the fold…

Is there really so little doing that we fell to page 3?

Pretty much. As for me, I only check in nowadays to walk my mules. I’ll probably get into it again in late May.

As far as I know nothing is exactly what’s happening on East. I’m pretty much on West exclusively for the time being.

My sorc is up to lvl 84 now and my new barb is lvl 22. The zon’s still at 73 or 4 until I find just the right equipment for her. That’s about it for me. I did find out the the pally contingent on West is awsome in their killing power though…

Thanks, but you saw my Nihilator at the top of his form. He’s rather a specialist. Seeing him against the Diablo Clone makes him look good. Seeing him against Fallen does not. The first time he killed the Clone, he got snuffed three times by Fallen on the way there. I’ve since gotten pretty good at hiding behind Amazons.

Now, theckhd’s ice prince is a different story… Fifty Baal runs a day will do that to you. Mine is still a little better against bosses, but not nearly as versatile.

Ah! I see. Still it’s rather impressive. Since I spend so much time playing alone, I try to build more multi-skilled characters… as I did with the fire and Frozen orb sorceress and the lightning and poison javazon. One dimensional characters are great in a party that can cover their weak spots because the damage in their specialty skill is enormous.

We lost three of the East group accounts mules. I checked in on some of the others, but I guess they were burned in, so they were okay. Five of my mules had “Expire today” under them, so I guess it’s a good thing I got my new systems put back together last night.

So I am strolling through the Frozen River in Hell with my Booyaka Barb (lvl 73), trying to save Anya. The Hammerdin I was teamed up with was doing some serious a** whooping.

And then it happened.

Bone Spirits out of nowhere slammed into my armor with the force of a thousand Yeti’s! Boom! Boom! Boom! Full-Rejuv, Full-Rejuv! Run! Run! No, Alt. F4!! Aaaaaaaaahhh!!

“Kalec was slain by PK-Frost” (or something like that. I really don’t know because I left the game immediately)

WTF!!??

I didn’t see the Hostile text. I didn’t hear the Hostile sound. All I saw was Bone Spirits pounding me and then I was dead.

I have never seen this happen before. What the hell happened to the 10 sec. delay? Why didn’t I see the hostile text? And trust me, it wasn’t that I didn’t see it, it popped up at the same time the Bone Spirits began pounding me! Is there some kind of PK hack that enables someone to hostile you, without you knowing it, and immediately TP to where you are, without any timer delay?

I knew I should not have played in that pubbie game! Why o why did I do that!? I usually play in Amazon Basin games, but no one was around. And I have yet to find a SDMB game on the HCL.

sigh

Man! I had big plans for that Booyaka Barb!

:frowning:

Sorry to hear about it Fin; you’re playing with teenagers acting out in angst.

You’ll find us in SOFTCORE LADDER only, none of us do hardcore, unless someone’s keeping a dirty little secret. Go to the Diablo 2 Account Names linked that I just reposted two days ago so you can look for us…also, start a softcore ladder character in US West or East (West is more active right now) and look for us, we’re around and we help each other out for the betterment of the whole SDMB party.
