OK. This is absolutely insane.
Here in Massachusetts, they’ve really started pushing to use the website for most RMV transactions, including registration renewals.
On October 12 I renewed my registration online. Got the receipt email. This email includes something you can show a cop (if needed) that says your registration is renewed and this receipt is valid 60 days while it gets mailed to you.
I never got the new registration, so on November16 I called and they said “no problem, we’ll send you a new one.” I never got that one either.
Today I realized I’ll need a new inspection sticker soon, and they won’t give you one without your registration. So I called again, and now they’re saying that I have to pay them for a new one, since they already sent me two.
As you can imagine, I was not pleased. I stayed polite, until the Supervisor started telling me that this was all my fault. They won’t budge. Especially since at least here, the registration is nothing more than a standard piece of paper. No real cost associated with it.
I’m furious. This is the kind of stuff that gets people really pissed off at government. They’ve de-staffed the registry offices, pushed us to online, saving money, and made any problems the citizens’
