So what is a good way to have amaretto? I like it with a little ginger beer or sipped very slowly straight. Or used in a cookie or other dessert recipe.
When I ski, I keep a hip flask of Amaretto and Southern Comfort (1:1) on me. I enjoy responsibly while on the lift.
It’s equally good over ice with a lemon twist, après–ski.
I think it’s great in coffee! (maybe everyone already knew this, but I only just learned of this deliciousness in recent months)
Amaretto and OJ is a very nice combination. But then, so is ouzo and OJ.
I sip it up or on the rocks.
I’ve also drizzled it over French vanilla ice cream.
I’ve heard that some people drink it with Coca-Cola. Personally, if I’m going to have it at all, it will be neat.
Amaretto sours, made fresh preferably, but also OK with the mix.
I have been guided to Amaretto mimosa’s.
1 part amaretto
2 parts OJ
4 parts champagne/dry sparkling wine
3 cherries
I’ll second that.
I used to drink whiskey sours until a girlfriend turned me on to Amaretto sours. Was skeptical, but I haven’t had a whiskey sour since. Changed my life!
Hmmmm. Ice cream, you say? I wonder if it would be good in a vanilla milkshake.
My vote goes with this, with “drizzled over french vanilla ice cream” a closed second.
I don’t drink too much, but in my opinion the Amaretto di Saschira that Luxardo makes is superior to the typical Amaretto di Saronno that you see all the commercials for. It’s a tad drier and more intense.
That, you serve in a warmed brandy snifter-Airwick Of The Gods, it is.
It’s shocking to me how many bars don’t serve amaretto in a snifter. Drives me batty.
Straight is best, especially after dessert. On the rocks is a good pre-dinner drink, though I’ve also been partial to the amaretto sour for some time now.
Amaretto, kahlua, and frangelico each make great milkshake additions.
I’m not saying it’s the best way to enjoy it, but the first thing that pops up in my mind are the Godfather and Godmother cocktails. 50/50 with Scotch or vodka, respectively.
Fourth-ed.
My wife puts a little bit (about scant tablespoon) in her pignoli cookies. The recipe doesn’t specifically call for it, but it’s kind of like dialing them up to 11.
If you send me a couple dozen I’ll let you know if she’s doing it right.
Amaretto sours
Amaretto and orange juice
Amaretto and diet cola
Amaretto cheesecake
Or straight, taking a tiny sip and letting the aaaahh cloud of almondness waft through your nasal areas
