Well, I like Kelly and Jon, I think they can be funny and I don’t mind a little snarkiness. Their arguments seem to be just on the surface and in a weird way they treat each other equally…equally poorly often, but I do get the impression they love each other. And at least they give off the impression that they are enkjoying it to a large extent. How funny was it, though, that they didn’t see the 5 painted big and bold and right in front of their eyes? BWAH!
Millie and Chuick’s dynamic just made me uncomfortable. There was clearly issues between the two of them and she treated him like crap and he took it. They looked like the Race was torture I am glad they are gone.
Clowns are the most consistently good racers, Reichen and Chip I think are the luckiest in the sense they make what should be absolutely killer mistakes and bad decisions, but end up fine. The non-gay guys race almost as well as the clowns, but they need to do a better job of locating clues that are right under their freaking noses!
There is only two chances left to get a fast forward and three teams have not gotten it yet. I wonder if some teams will work strategically on this, becuase if two teams go for it, then the one that doesn’t get it will find themselves in dire circumstances (despite what happened this week).
BTW, I thought this episode was certainly one of the absolute best in all of the four seasons.
The last fifteen minutes of the show were a real nail biter for me. I mean, I dislike both teams a great deal; Kelly and Jon for being such humongous jerks for the entire race and Millie and Chuck mainly for Millie. Oh, who will I have to put up with for at least two more shows (since next week is almost certainly non-elimination)!? I was rooting Millie and Chuck mainly because they had already used their Fast Forward and thus it was unlikely that they were going to be able to recover from their incompetant racing another time.
I wonder who Kelly and Jon will have to complain about now that Millie and Chuck are gone. Perhaps M&C’s evil influence will extend from whereever they’re waiting it out and continue to screw them up.
Right now it seems the clowns are the strongest racers left. They don’t seem burned out, they have avoided the big mistakes, and they still have their fast forward. I could see the fact that three of the teams having FF’s left being a huge factor in the upcoming legs.
It looked like the bold letters at the top of the note said “General Rules”, so I’m assuming the rest of it said something like:
Don’t go faster than X kph, lest you incur a time penalty.
Drive on the left side of the road!
Watch for cattle!
Don’t fall asleep!
Read the friggin’ map!
I presume the rest of the teams were conscious enough to pull the note from the steering wheel before setting off. M&C were just running on fumes and it was painful to watch. I half expected Millie to scream “I WAITED 12 YEARS FOR THIS?” at some point.
Thanks, evilhomer. It sounds like a good one, I wish I had remembered to tape it.
I too have been rooting for the Clowns to win from the start. Usually this means they are doomed to come in third, but maybe my curse will be broken this year.
(btw, evilhomer, I can’t see your name without singing the little conga to myself…I am evil Hom-er! I am evil Hom-er. Damn it.)
I’ve said it before, but I have to repeat: I wouldn’t have minded Millie and Chuck nearly as much if they’d ever, for one second, looked like they enjoyed the race. Every single moment with the two of them was painful and stressed, and they became more painful and stressed the longer the race went on.
Glad to see I’m not the only one who wondered if Millie did any of the tasks – I don’t recall that she did. That wouldn’t have been so bad if she hadn’t been frantic to micromanage Chuck through all of them.
Basically, I think they were done in by their grim and unrelenting approach to the race. If they’d actually slept instead of staying up and strategizing, they might have recovered better on this leg of the race.
And so far as your relationship goes, kids, wipe those scales out of your eyes. God has turned on a big neon sign with a route marker attached to it that says “go your separate ways.”
I’d have preferred to see Kelly and Jon go, but it was a race between my two least favorite teams. (For those wondering: I don’t really care about their snarkiness between the two of them, but their juvenile name-calling, especially when they’re sharing it with other teams, drives me up a wall. It’s not funny, it’s petty and catty. Also, Jon’s an ass.)
I’d rather see Jon and Al or the Goats win than Chip and Reichen, but any of them are preferable to the Terrible Twosome.
I kind of agree. Putting Kelly and Jon in a stressful situation and they’ll fight like cats and dogs. But afterward, they seem fine, at least with each other and may be willing to laugh about it.
When Millie and Chuck get stressed, they fight too. But afterwards the reaction is more like:
“It’s so sad that we fight. We are so stubborn and obviously incompatible. We should probably break up. Woe is me. I just want him to be happy. Boo-hoo. Sob.”
Sheesh, calm down. Life is not like The Amazing Race all the time and you need to fight and get over it to have a relationship.
Still, regarding Kelly and Jon - saying that they have a better relationship than Millie and Chuck ain’t saying much.
Velma, FWIW I believe that OLN reruns the episode on Sunday so you can still see it.
And I recall Millie did at least do the bungie jump. She did the mask roadblock in Venice as well. Chuck did the LeMann tire changing roadblock, the fish roadblock in India, the bull hauling roadblock, the shooting things roadblock, and of course the ladder roadblock. So Millie did the blocks at the beginning but about the time she started going into whiny demanding mode she made Chuck do them.
Yah, the previews showed the clowns getting lost in one of the few places on earth that doesn’t welcome clowns. The border between North and South Korea.
I’ve checked OLN listings and I don’t see anything regarding the Amazing Race. Lots of stuff on the Tour de France of course. And bull riding. And cliff diving.
But no Amazing Race. Which upon reflection would surprise me anyway if it were to be shown on OLN.
Heh heh. Glad I can bring a little music into your life
I don’t think I’m going to put too much stock into the previews. The producers probably know that the clowns are very popular with the viewers, and so they want to build up as much drama as possible. Although, with my luck, Jon and Kelly will win the whole thing. It’ll be like Flo winning all over again, except Jon’s a jerk too.
should be on OLN sunday night at 8pm, well it does here in toronto, ontario… but i don’t bother watching it then, i need my AR4 fix as early as possible.
and how is jon and kelly such jerks? they’re having fun in their own twisted little way. They make fun of people, big deal, it’s a freaking competition, so anything goes. If I want to talk smack to my opponents behind their backs that’s fine with me. If they want to belittle me fine, but make sure you can back your taunts and snide remarks with good skills. They are good together, having fun when being stressed out, they also know when to hit the high gear when it matters. So how come they’re being painted as assholes? I find nothing wrong with giving nicknames to people you don’t know. Like someone who smells awful, can be called “stinkboy” or “bathe daily”. Childish it may be, but it is all in fun. I guess this world has gotten way too politically correct that we can’t even make fun of people.
Madawc, thanks for the clue. After searching the OLN website and their TV listings, it appears that there is an OLN-Canada which is different than OLN-US.
The Amazing Race does appear on OLN-Canada, but is not broadcast in the US on OLN.
Now… back to the discussion of whether or not the Clowns get caught in the DMZ, and the relative disfunctionality of J&K vs C&M.
