Rule #1 - the ones who say they think they’re going to make it rarely do.
Meh, I wasn’t always thrilled with Josiah’s voice, but I loved the fact that he never karaoked his songs. That’s too bad that he didn’t make it, he would have been an interesting addition to the show.
Maybe now Van can stop lying to his parents and go home. Maybe see a shrink.
Say what, Paula? They can come back now after making it to the chair round?
I don’t remember half the people that have made it to the final 24. Oh well.
Hey, African American Lives is starting. They got a lot of nerve going so over.
When was Hollywood Week? November?
Isn’t that fascinating? I don’t want to give insult to Mr. Gates, but I think genealogy/ancestor discovery would make an awesome reality series. I don’t know how they’d make it competitive though.
Voting next week – I still like the Biker Nurse and I like the Plus Size Model, although I don’t quite buy that her size has held her back. She ain’t that big. And there are plenty of big women selling records.
I was in the kitchen when they reviewed the songs of the final two women, but I thought they both sounded awful. Was that just my weird vantage point? If they were the 11th and 12th best women, I’m shocked.
Now watching Malcom in the Middle as a psycho killer on Criminal Minds…he still looks 12 to me.
They weren’t that great, but I thought the skinny model was the worst (worse?) of the two. Pitchy!
I think it’s a wee bit contrived (and cruel) to do the pairs. The pairs weren’t competing against each other – they were competing against everyone.
Did the show run over? My DVR cut off right in the middle of the last two girls. I heard Randy say “If I tell one of you the other will know the answer” and then nothing. Which one made it through, the plus size model or the other one?
Anything else of importance happen after that?
So far my favorites are the two Danny’s, Young David & the Australian guy.
The plus size one made it.
All you missed was an individual look at the 12 guys and 12 gals – a few seconds of bopping around with each of their names on the screen.
Thanks! Oh good, I liked her much better than the other one.
Am I wrong for rooting for all the hotties?
Danny and David Hernandez, specifically. The David Archuleta guy is kinda cute too, in an “aww” kinda way.
Maybe I’m actually rooting for them because I like their voices, too. Hmm…
Bye, Kyle Ensley. I’m upset that Simon gave you such a sweet pep talk, because you kind of annoyed me. At least you’re gone now.
Bye, Josiah. I liked you overall.
Kyle was interesting, but something about his voice bugged me.
I was glad to see them let Josiah go.
I was a bit surprised that they said goodbye to Cardin and that they kept Syesha.
I was pleased with many of the other choices for the ones to keep, especially Danny from Azusa, Archuleta, Brooke, and Michael.
Man, I am pissed about Kyle. Just once, I wanted a Southerner to go through who was not a hick or a good ol’ boy. And I liked his voice. And he was beyond cute. And it’s interesting that Simon said what he said. If he wanted Kyle that bad and he still didn’t get in, I bet it was the word coming down from upstairs, not an inabliity to sway Randy and Paula.
As for Josiah. I think he and the show have both been spared a lot of grief. He’s too much of a free spirit. They already had one free spirit with Taylor*, and look how that turned out. And even a free spirit is supposed to cooperate. Why shouldn’t he have sung with the band? He might not have gotten it perfect, but he was obligated to do the best he could. Debra Byrd freaking told him: he wasn’t even trying to keep time with them. He would have had to sing with backup every week, same as everyone else, and if he can’t even get it together in Hollywood, well, that was his last chance.
Beyond that, meh. I’m not invested in anyone. May not watch this year; I’ll see how I feel next Tuesday.
*Long Time First Time, I disagree that Taylor was versatile. He made everything he sang into R&B. The difference between him and Carrie, and him and Daughtry, is that Carrie and Daughtry specialize in genres that people want to pay money to hear. Taylor’s a consistent performer, and a hella good one, but not in a genre that translates well to recorded music. And there are not a lot of people who want to pay for it.
Yeah, there really isn’t anyone who’s grabbed me either, although I think Michael Johns (the Australian guy) and Syesha are very good. If they’d held on to Nerdy Politician Boy (Kyle?) that would have been interesting.
A pity about Josiah, but the kid was too emotionally unstable.
I’ll be watching next week mostly to see the ones I haven’t heard yet (scrawny longhaired boy and dreadlocks boy specifically). Maybe they were keeping these guys under wraps because they’re so incredibly good! :dubious:
You mean like Clay Aiken?
Samantha Sidley. Definitely not in the final 24; I’m not even sure she was in the final 50.
If he or she is paying attention, the third to the last person should know. There need to have been 11 people chosen by the time there are only 2 people left - if there have been, then third to last is out. If not, then third to last is in.
