Well, they have to do that - otherwise the last person would know whether they were in or out before they sat in the chair. The contestants come back to the waiting room and announce whether they made it or not.
Two ways to avoid that: (1) make the second to last person not go back to the waiting room, or (2) don’t let any of the contestants go back to the waiting room and announce their result.
I like #2 myself. It would certainly add to the tension in the waiting room if no one knows how the other contestants are doing.
I agree with y’all. What bothers me about it is the damper it puts on the winner’s celebration. All the other winners get to (and are encouraged to) whoop and hollar and jump up and down. But you can’t do that when the person beside you has just had her dreams shattered in one fell swoop. Same same for the loser. She doesn’t get to mope and bury her face and cry. She has to maintain decorum lest she look like a sore loser.
It just really sucks.
They have no choice of where to send the people after they learn their fate because there is one way in and one way out. They’re not going to change that because they are in love with their elevator camera. So here’s my suggestion. Bring in the last three contestants together and hand them each a sealed envelope that they may not open until they get back downstairs. There, they can celebrate or mourn as normal the way the rest of the people do.
Count me as one of her fans, I was very disappointed that she wasn’t in the top numbers, and disappointed that they didn’t even show her on the Hollywood week show. She has a very fervent online fan base just from her initial audition appearance. The producers are missing out…(OK, maybe she bombed in the Hollywood week competition, but we’ll never know!)
