American Idol 2/23-25

Aaron should be around for a long time. He will get 10-16 yr old teeny-bopper vote. I didn’t know the song but he seemed to sing it well.

He’s killing a very lovely song. The falsetto is awful and he needs to back up off the mic. I’m trying to put the the singer’s name in each post but I don’t know his name.
ETA: Jermaine.

Ouch. Jermaine… ouch. Okay voice but as the judges correctly said, he oversang the hell out of that song. And that “Michael” stuff was awkward as hell, making him look like a jerk. I say he’s gone.

What was the story with that, anyway? Did he blame a bad performance on this Michael guy?

Why can’t I find this year’s recaps on TWOP? What am I missing?

I was ready to hate Tim because of his stupid hair and, boy, did he come through. That was as bad as Lacey.

Apologize was done way better by Thomas Jefferson.

They’re here. You can find the recaps by going to the AI forum, then looking up on the menu that says “RECAPS FORUM WIKI.”

The judges are again 100% right. Tim does not have the falsetto / range to pull off that song. I actually kinda like the tone of his lower notes, and there’s something I like about his phrasing. But the song was all kinds of wrong for him.

Interesting story about his getting the call after someone else was bumped. Sucks for the other guy, though.

Ugh, I forgot that this show was on until backup boy. Is there a running recap anywhere? And who left so backup boy could come back?

Little Orphan Tranny. He withheld information from the producers. He once had a singing contract.

Are my ears untuned or something? I thought Joe was awful. And YAY, Randy said “for me for you”. I was missing that. Too bad there will not be any hopped-up seal clapping from dearly departed Pauler.

And thank you choie!

AI would be infinitely improved by banning both Bryan Adams and Jason Mraz.

It’s a really weak field this year, isn’t it? Not a single really compelling performance on either night yet.

I think the only performers who have been at all interesting are Haeley and Todrick for at least trying to be inventive.

“American Woman” is such a bar song. I have a feeling this is something he’s done a million times with cover bands, so it feels really safe.

The arrangment is not really working. No momentum or groove.

Yuck. Bad “American Woman”. Ridiculous beginning, soulless rest.

Feel like I’m blabbing on and on. Another guy I was ready to hate because of his hair but I didn’t not mind Tyler’s American Woman at all.

And the judgesl are really getting on my last nerve with the ‘be original’ and the ‘you’re too original’ bullshit.

I’m with you, Biggirl. I didn’t mind that “American Woman.” In fairness, I really really love that song, and find it hard not to like it. I like this guy’s tone, though I do agree that there was something a bit soulless in the arrangement.

Joe has a decent voice, but I’m kinda over the “super-fast vibrato” coupled with over-abundance of melisma. When combined, the resulting song sounds like someone trying to sing during an earthquake.

I’m tired of hearing them tell people to be “current,” as well. What the hell does that even mean other than to copycat whatever’s on the radio? And what’s original about being current? Vital artists make the currency, they don’t copy it. Elvis, the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Hendrix, Nirvana – none of them were copying anything current when they started.

This guy sounds pretty good. He sounds like professional singer, anyway.

Ellen is “E” to Randy now? Oy.

That was really pitchy for me for you, dog.

Yeah, I’m channelling Randy.
I too hope Lee stays around. I like his voice.
