Both those girls were suprised by that result.
Who was it in the past who was too overwhelmed to sing and one of the remaining contestants started singing and then everyone joined in?
If she’d looked and sounded like that last night, she might have made it through.
For those of us who watched Survivor instead, can you say who got the boot?
Spill it, somebody!
I thought he was performing accupressure for a headache.
Wow, no one has spilled the beans yet? I will:
Jason Yeager
Alexandrea Lushington
Alaina Whitaker
Robbie Carraco
(Spelling probably off)
So I’m fine with the outcome for the boys because I didn’t like either of them (mostly the hair for both of them and I don’t care if this is a singing competition) but seriously. I was nearly falling out of my chair excited at the idea of Amanda going home. What an amazing disappointment.
I thought Alainah sang out quite well, considering her emotional state.
:raises hand:
Everyone knows the results now, right? Speaking of hair, I’m disappointed that now we may never know if Robbie C. has been wearing a wig.
Regarding LilyoftheValley’s comment about Amanda, I was talking about that with the BF earlier. Our theory: she knows she’s out of her element and this makes her performances reek of insecurity. She looked and sounded miserable during the group sing (to be fair: doesn’t everyone?), and though I didn’t see the results, it’s a good bet she is bummed about having to go through it all again for another week. With any luck America will put her out of her misery next week.
David A. didn’t win Star Search, he did made it to the final 4, but was eliminated (3 or 4 I believe).
And in any case, it has nothing to do with whether he came away with a big head or feeling like he’s all that. I honestly don’t understand the seemingly automatic contempt that some people have for humility and success. David has hinted, I think, at why he’s so grateful for the adulation he’s receiving. He describes himself as “little”. If he was a cute little kid, it is entirely possible that bigger boys picked on him pretty mercilessly — especially if he was a talented singer. I think he shows an enormous strength of character, and I’m confident in predicting that when the first real criticism comes … and it will … he will accept it graciously. But his fans won’t.
Regarding his voice, to me it has the kind of clarity and strength that Stevie Wonder’s voice has, and the richness of Elton John’s. There’s no hint of the nasal twang from boy-band singers. His falsetto is strong. He’s a bit weak on the lowest tones, and he knows that. He said last week that he didn’t think that song was his best.
Even if a person isn’t a fan of his for whatever reason, I think taking a stand against him just because of prior success or current popularity is rather ordinary in its conception. If someone doesn’t like his voice, fine. Strange from my point of view, but fine. It’s still no reason to take random digs at his character for which there is zero evidence.
Now I can ask my question–
Does that mean that Gay Danny was in the bottom 4 (for boys) and Amanda wasn’t (for girls)? This is assuming that they make the 8 contestants with the lowest votes-- per sex-- are the ones they leave standing after all the “you’re safe” things.
Damn it! I can’t explain myself any better. You all know what I mean, right?
I need to correct myself-- Amanda was in the bottom 4 girls.
Also, I know what bothers me about Gay Danny. He’s too calculating. You could see him trying to figure out what would be more fierce-- hand on hip or finger snapping? Hair flip or come hither look?
Agree with Biggirl. Gay Danny seems annoyed that he has to deal with the rest of us in the world — his supporting cast. He strikes me as a high maintenance complainer. If he were an actress on the set, he’d bark orders at the riff-raff while lamenting how poorly appointed his trailer is. I think he’s a spoiled brat. Ish.
I think the producers have a good understanding of who the public will accept as being in the bottom 2, but I don’t think it necessarily corresponds with the number of actual votes for the contestants. Gay Danny COULD HAVE been in the bottom 2, but I don’t think his still standing indicates much of anything.
Did anyone catch Ryan saying something like, “With the judges in disagreement, how will America know who to vote for?”
I can’t believe Cruella De Vil is going to be back to assail us with her off-key caterwalling next week. Oh well, at least we got rid of Pepe Le Pew and Who Wears Long Shorts? We Wear Long Shorts.
legend: Amanda, Jason, and Alexandrea
I can’t believe Alexandrea got booted before Amanda.
What I’m entertaining myself with on the elimination show: reactions to the dismissals. What was up with David A’s breakdown? And why were the girls not particularly upset?
Not sure where to put this: are we going to do a top-12 elimination game? I have a simple idea for scoring.
Let’s hear it – I’ve been looking back at last year’s game and trying to work out an improved/simplified scoring system. Any suggestions would definitely be appreciated…
