American Idol - 21, 22, 23 Feb

You just had to say ‘fucking nailed’, didn’tcha?

Oh yeah, he does the Constantine thing, but he’s actually got what Connie was faking. And that was, as Simon said, a fantastic song choice, and as everybody knows by now, this competition is won and lost on song choice. That he looks like an angel who just found out why he’s on the wrong side, and really knows how to wear a pair of bluejeans, is just a sweet, sweet bonus.

Sorry for the double post.

As for Taylor, all I can say is wow. Love him.

Taylor knows music and I love him.

Best of the night. He really reminds me of Joe Cocker. Great song choice.

Hmm … I usually love Taylor, but he is not, at the moment, moving me. He sounds exhausted, and not in the way that rends the soul, you know? Is there something wrong with me?

The guys are definetly deeper than the girls. Every one of them deserves a second chance except for the pear-shaped guy and Kevin.

I would rate Taylor, Chris as the best of the night. Copacabana guy, Kevin C. and Sway were the worst.

My meaningless rankings:

  1. Taylor
  2. Chris

These two guys are fantastic and should be around for a long time.

Big gap

  1. Gedeon
  2. Elliott
  3. Ace

These three were pretty good. I think all three can do better than they did tonight.

Gap

  1. Kevin (this season’s Anthony)
  2. Will
  3. Bucky
  4. Patrick
  5. Sway

Each of these guys is a dead man walking.

Big gap

  1. David
  2. Bobby

If God exists, David and Bobby will be eliminated tomorrow night.

Wow, this is a close one. Taylor’s verve totally trumped Ace’s yumminess. My list:

Oh. My. God.

  1. Taylor
  2. Ace
  3. Will

Wow
4. Chris
5. Patrick
6. Elliot
7. Gedeon

A for Effort
8. David
9. Bucky
10. Sway
11. Kevin

Thanks for Playing!
12. Bobby

I didn’t think anyone was horrible though. They all were better than two-thirds of the girls last night.

Sway wasn’t that good. Why would anyone want to listen to a guy sing in falsetto through an entire song?

Kevin bored me. Didn’t Anthony last year take the entire nerd-boy-sings-drippy-ballad thing as far as it could go?

What’s the deal with Bobby? Does Robert Goulet know he has an illegitmate child? He might bring some diversity to the contest, since there are no other openly gay fat guys who love Barry Manilow.

Elliot looks like Tim Blake Nelson’s character in Oh Brother Where Art Thou, only the movie character could sing better (he’s the one who did justice to “In the Jailhouse Now”).

Chris sang a Bon Jovi song, so he’s dead to me.

I wanted David to be better. I think he’ll be around a while longer, though.

Bucky is like Bo only not as good or as charasmatic. And I never thought Bo was that good or that charasmatic.

Patrick, Will, Gedeon and Ace can start a boy band when they’re done. Patrick will be “the smart one,” Will will be “the cute one,” Ace will be “the dangerous one,” and Gedeon will be “the black one.”

Taylor scared me a bit with the “family values” line. I’m now afraid in a future he’ll go into a harangue about them liberal queers or something. I still like him best of the dudes, though.

My favorites are Taylor, Ace, and Chris. I’m wondering what Ace and his brother’s parents look like because who the heck could create not one, but two beautiful men?

One detail that should be important to everyone.

Patrick Hall

DJ Qualls

He’s got a really solid voice and some stage presence but god damn does he need to try something current.

My kid likes him, but even she snickered when he said he was going to prove he could do something current, and chose a song 15 years older than she is.

I so wish we could vote for the ones we don’t like. David who looks like Peter Brady and sings like a bad Elvis impersonator needs to go. And Sway, I didn’t like him at the Hollywood segmants and really hated him tonight.

I liked Bobby and the Copacabana but I don’t think he will last long. I think he is better than about half of the women who were so off key last night it was ridiculous. I like Taylor but he needs to quit with the imitations (not so much tonight as before) We already have Joe Cocker and Sevie Wonder, he needs to find his own style.

I am really looking forward to when they have the makeovers, as pretty as Bo was he still looked better after the makeover. Maybe they can do for Kevin what they did for Clay. whether you liked Clay or not, you have to admit he looked way better without the glasses and with his hair fixed.

Heh, I laughed at that too. Not to mention he gave the rendition Elivs would have given.

I agree. Is that what happens to guys who are too good-looking? He seemed phony. Maybe it’s his eyes – he’s taking everything in without putting anything out.

I liked Taylor, Elliott, and Chris.

No no no.

Will Makar looks like Peter Brady.

Incidentally after seeing last months Playboy, that must not be such a bad thing.

Not at all. Taylor is the reason that I’m watching this season of American Idol, and I thought he came out flat. I think it was just poor song choice. He tried to go more towards pop and it didn’t work for him. He’ll pull it out next week.

He wasn’t the only one who made a bad decision. The only guy that even remotely compared to the big guns of the women was Chris. I wasn’t pleased with Bon Jovi either, but he nailed the hell out of that song. Everyone else was just kinda flat at best, and bad audition at worst. Copa Cobana indeed.

Elliott needs some help – he seemed self-conscious about his not-so-great smile, and his hair is terrible.
