Carrie Underwood has to be a double-edged sword for Simon.
On the one hand, she’s American Idol’s most successful product. She’s validation that the show can produce a megastar. Also, she’s a walking advertisement for the show simply because that’s where we first saw her.
On the other hand, she’s a country artist and Simon hates country music.
They’re going to use the save card. The fix is in.
… and based on this performance, they won’t be throwing that save away tonight…

I wondered what on earth was the point of Michael (Michael, right?) mentioning his small daughters comment. Its like saying hey vote me off, my daughter thinks I don’t care. Weird.
So much for the stupid conspiracy theory.
Of course, the conspiracists will now just say Idol wanted to prove the staffer wrong, so they booted the most expendable. But with conspiracies, you can’t win.

I never heard of Jeff Buckley covering Ring of Fire, and I’m a huge fan of his work.
At first, I thought Adam’s version would be close to Dilana’s in Rock Star Supernova, but the resemblance was only for the slow intro - and Dilana had him beat by a mile. Then, when he went into the high notes, all resemblance with her version vanished.
Does anyone have any idea whose cover he really used as inspiration? I never heard Coldplay’s version, could it be theirs?

Wow. I really liked Alexis. I didn’t think she’d win, but there are several much worse singers. I don’t blame them for not using the save though. It’s still early and she’s not mega-great. I feel a bit sorry for Sarver because they said that they were seriously considering saving one of them – Alexis.
And I just have to add – was that the worst group sing ever? I usually like them, no matter how goofy they are, but I almost couldn’t listen to that. Someone kept sounding like they were way off or something weird. And it just overall sounded wrong.
Off the top of my head Scott and Sarver were worse. C’mon, it was Country week and Sarver was arguably one of the worst performers of the night. If you’re a Country performer and can’t nail Country week, how good are you? Scott doesn’t have a great voice, though I suppose he uses what he has well. Alexis has a better voice, and I wanted to see if she could do something with it.
So who do you guys think they are saving the Save for? Lil, Adam, Danny for sure – anyone else deserve a Save? Anoop?
Was I the only one laughing hysterically during Alexis’ sing-out when the judges put together that fake huddle?
