American Idol 3/23-3/24

Casey-“the Power of Love”
I thought it was a questionable song choice, but I enjoyed it. I didn’t notice that he did much to change it.

Casey gave a very good performance of a very mediocre song. Simon is completely full of shit every week about this kid, and it’s because of the guitar. Simon absolutely can’t stand it when somebody can play an instrument. It means they have a creative spark and a semblance of a musical IQ. He hates that. He wants vacuous meat puppets like that Jesus wheel chick. I also think he probably has some feelings of inadequacy about not actually being a musician or knowing anything about music. People who can play instruments remind him what a fraud he is.

I’ve not been a Katie fan but thought she did well tonight.
Big Mike can sing but I still haven’t been “wowed” by him.
Casey is probably closest to the kind of stuff I listen to most, that is, blues-blues rock but like I said last week I’ve seen a hundred bar bands that do that syle better.
Didi…hmmmm…pretty and the songs getting better as she goes. That was OK.

It’s not high self esteem. It’s being comfortable doing something she’s been doing for years.

Wow, a glimpse into the inner workings of Simon’s mind now! Your newsletter- I wish to subscribe to it.

You know what I love about your comments in the AI threads? It’s how your hatred goes beyond what you see and hear and onto the person. You bring the hate, and you bring it strong. So, you have that going for you.

Didi has quite the bitchface. She’s getting better. I like her voice. They’re panning her, but there was no real reason to. Well, I do agree with Kara. It was a bit stagey. But it certainly wasn’t terrible.

And it occurs to me that part of why Crystal seems arrogant is because she is introverted and a bit standoffish. She seems like she has to try hard to be engaging when she’s not performing. She is fine when she’s singing, but seems a bit on the shy and reseved side otherwise.

See, that’s what I’m taking about.

Here DIO, you think you know what’s going on in Crystal’s head. You just don’t see what’s wrong with that, do you? There’s far more of what’s in YOUR head in these statements than what the actual ppl you are talking about are thinking. Projection.

Funniest tampon commercial ever.

She also has a very generous level of self-esteem.

I don’t hate Simon. I like him ok. But he’s a douchebag in some ways.

Siobhan cracks me up. Are those acid wash jeans?

This house band has no funk. It’s really dragging down what is otherwise a very good vocal by Siobhan.

I had better hopes for Siobahn in the pimp spot, but she was just ok tonight. She was fine, but that’s kind of a boring song, and she didn’t really do anything with it but add the little scream. And she’s now in danger of getting same-old with that.

Dio said a few weeks ago that he (and others) were just “pointing and laughing.” Does anybody think that he’s laughing? Because he sounds like a birther at an Obama rally.

Siobhan Magnus is a crowd-pleaser. She can go all the way to the last show. Could win it,

Siobhan. I love your use of “wicked cool” and your tattoo of your neighbor’s work. Way to bring the Cape Cod. Also the 80s jeans and Roxette hair. You entertain the hell out of me.

Good point about the band. It can really suck the groove/funk/energy/soul/rock and roll out of anything. I think they shouild be declared enemy combatants and shipped off to Gitmo to be waterboarded and forced to listen to Motorhead. That’s how offensive they are.

Well, that much I’ll agree with. I wonder if that doesn’t help in that line of work.

Rewatching Tim, it reminds me of when Pat Boone did that metal cover album.

Paige is clearly the worst. I hope for her own sake she goes home. The fact she stresses every week how much “fun” betrays how miserable she is.
