Well, feel free to post a youtube video of your performance for us to decide if you can SING it, or can simply “sing” it, the way William Hung can sing “Rocket Man.”
Hmm, she does fancy herself an activist or some such. Maybe she’ll do “Mercy Me (The Ecology)” by Marvin Gaye.
“Dock of the Bay” really is an easy song to sing. It’s fun, but it’s easy. 
I can see where you’re coming from, Sam; like you say, if he can pull off the Stewart/Beck version (including the guitar work), it would be killer.
I’ll play it for you next time you’re over. I fronted a band for years, dude. I’m a perfectly mediocre bar band singer. If I can hit all the notes, then that’s how I know it’s easy. The basic melody line for “Dock of the Bay” is pretty simple. It’s been a showcase song for singers because it leaves a lot of room for ornamentation, but the essential line is pretty basic.
