Starting off lame. He’s doing just what Smokey told him not to do. He’s trying to pussy croon a song that needs to have some grit and desperation to it. His tempo is too slow too. I think the word for the night is “nutless.”

Aw Lil. Her voice was so big and rich, by far the most up to her song. But that was just not right. Too fast, or something.
I thought this was the best Lil had ever been. I don’t normally like her at all. Weird.
Coming up next, Adam is going to ask us to take a good look at his face. I find he’s the only person I really look forward to seeing this season. I hope he does something weird with the song, like wearing lizard skin boots and doing a Jim Morrison thing or something.

Adam sounds good, but I can’t get over the fact that he looks like an If They Mated between Elvis and Rick Astley.
Wow, Adam looks like a different person. I guess he’s going all out with the Motown look.
He’s absolutely nailing this song too. This is fantastic. His best performance, I think, and best of the night so far. This guy is so different and works his ass off to try to be original. I really like him.
Damn, it’s official. Two weeks in a row means I need to take back my Adam hate. Crap.

This was the most tolerable he’s been all year, and would have been better if he didn’t sing the song as high as he did. The falsetto got a bit monotonous to me, but it was still pretty darn good.
Additionally, this is the first time he hasn’t oozed musical theater. Even Ring of Fire was dripping with too many dramatic facial expressions.

Gokey sounds kind of grunty and not that great. Borderline Karaoke. I just intutitively don’t like this guy a a general rule, but this is the first time that I’ve thought his actual singing was subpar.

Gokey got quite the Bitch Edit and none of the judges really took full advantage of it.
