American Idol 3/24

Glad to see I’m not the only person who found it long and boring. She’s annoying, in the way that beautiful girls who know they’re beautiful can be. The only good moment of the song was Smokey’s brief solo bit.

If ya’ll saw 30 Rock last week, they discussed people that are in the bubble. Megan and Joss Stone are both in the bubble. The bubble is where pretty people live and get to do whatever they want, because no one ever tells them the truth.

According to Dialidol, Sarver is going home, but they had Megan in the B3 instead of Matt.

They also had Adam beating out Gokey as the top vote getter for the first time.

I won’t miss this guy.

Based on this “goodbye” performance, I’d rather listen to Megan than Michael. Bye Mike, don’t let the door hit you…yada yada yada.

It is a bit weird to hear Home Sweet Home (the goodbye song) sung by Carrie Underwood.

Everybody said goodbye to Michael tonight on both of the shows referenced above.

I like it better than the original, but I never cared for Vince Neal’s voice. He sounds too much like Steve Perry when he does ballads. That strident rocker voice.

re: the save. They couldn’t decide? Then when time is running out, it seemed like Simon made the decision himself.

The whole confab/choice thing is a bit of a joke anyway. But there’s no way they would have wasted their save on the guy. I have a feeling they’ll eventually waste in on Scott around final 6/ final 7 time and he’ll go the following week. I don’t see them using it for anyone else that won’t make the final five anyway.

“Gokey” has become household slang for cat puke.

Doesn’t it have to be unanimous? If so, then Simon could nix it by himself - any of them could. Besides, Paula just refused to say anything because she would say no as well. If it were yes, she wouldn’t have delayed.

Scott is a boring singer with a bit of a pleasant voice and no range.

Yeah, it does have to be unanimous so Simon is perfectly justified to say “No,” esp. with Ryan hassling 'em about the time.

brilliant

My goodness…Little Stevie Wonder turned into Stevie the Wonder Whale.

I haven’t followed the results of the voting, I just wanted to note that Adam really impressed me this week. I wanted to dislike him, especially after his Ring of nonsense last week, but I had to reluctantly give it to the man. He was very, very good and though he still annoys me somewhat I can’t deny his range and skills and obvious ambition to show different sides of himself.

I think he will be the winner of this season.

Chiming in late here. I thought that Adam looked like Leo DiCaprio this week, although I see where the Kurt Russell is coming from, too.

This was the first week that I thought Kris was worth listening to. I was embarrassed for Megan. Glad Michael went home, although my six year old was disappointed. (The two year old has better taste - she likes Allison.)

Oh, and I finally got what y’all keep saying about connecting with lyrics. I generally don’t care much about lyrics - I’ve always figured the point of lyrics was to enable you to sing along. But, when Adam was singing this week, my two year old daughter looked up and gasped, “Oh, he’s so sad!”

Woo Hoo! – David Cook’s coming back for a visit to idol! Sure wish he were playing “Bar Ba Sol” and not “Come Back To Me”, but we’ll take what we can get…

I’m looking forward to that and I agree about the song - Bar Ba Sol is the only song on the album that really jumps out at me. The rest are OK but pretty much forgettable. I don’t know why Bar Ba Sol isn’t getting more love. The title, maybe?

Apparently they taped his appearance last week (according to ew.com), so it won’t be live. Not that it matters much to the viewers, but I thought it’d be sweet to see him interacting with the Idol contenders in some fashion.
