American Idol 4/12

I stand corrected regarding “The Sound of Music.”

And just so I’m not confused again. When you say Paul McCartney is “flexible.” What do you mean? I’m a 50 year old gay man, and I’ve never heard McCartney refered to in that way.

I forgot to mention: I want whatever Paula was on tonight. Day-um, she was even more messed up than usual!

You really think so? Tamyra was probably the best of the four and is the only one that I would put in the Top 2. Trenyce never had an original interpretation to a song the entire time she was on A.I. When she sang a Whitney Houston song, she was Whitney Houston. When it was a Tina Turner song, she was Tina Turner. She might have been technically proficient, but that’s not enough. And, poor Latoya had no passion for singing. I was left cold with all three of these singers so I wasn’t surprised when they were booted.

And I’m not all that surprised about Nadia. She didn’t have a chance when so many of the Top 12 could outsing her. She would’ve kicked butt last year (I think she’s better than Latoya), but the competition was too fierce this year.

I was so caught up in it all, I forgot to watch Paula. What did she do exactly?

Hurt? That he’s gay? You’ve got to be kidding me. This is the coolest news of the day.

Bo was very cool about the possibility of getting voted off but maybe a little too modest. He mentioned going back to “playing gigs” but he must know he’s going to get a record deal no matter what.

And even if he did go back to playing weddings, he’d be able to quadruple his price and stay booked every weekend of the year. I’m sure there’s an awful lot of women out there who would die to have Bo Bice play at their wedding.

Both Bo and Nadia were pretty classy about being in the bottom three, but Scott is always doing this wanna be gangsta thang. I remember back in the auditions he seemed like this sweet guy whose father had put him down and he was just trying to prove himself. Now he just seems to be a phony with a bad attitude.

I’m sorry gobear, I disagree. Nadia did not deserve to be in the final two.

Dio, Bo can be in my wedding…

Who the hell are these people who are voting for Scott? No one I know who’s watched this even remotely likes him, his singing or his attitude. He should have been voted off weeks ago.

I missed last night’s show but watched the videos over on watchidol.com and I know it’s not a popular opinion but I was blown away by Nadia’s performance last night. Yes, it was an “unknown” song but there’s just something about her voice that is extremely pleasant to me. There’s a certain…maturity to her style that’s appealing. It’s hard to explain. It’s all subjective, anyway.

But Scott? Oh, dear heavens…I couldn’t watch more than 30 seconds, wincing the entire time. That was painful. How the hell Nadia got voted off and he didn’t, I’ll never understand.

I definitely noticed Paula slurring and rambling and weaving tonight. Simon just seems to roll his eyes and look away whenever she starts to talk.

How come nobody’s mentioned how nice Seacrest looked tonight? He was all clean-shaven, wearing a suit and tie and nice white shirt which may even have had French cuffs. He cleans up rather nicely. Much, much better than a ratty t-shirt and a face full of stubble.
End of rant. Sorry to see Nadia go. I thought she had real star quality. But I wasn’t really surprised.

Seacrest forgot one important wardrobe item, however – a hankie in his pocket. Did you notice at the end he took off his tie to give to Nadia to wipe her tears with? Don’t younger men carry handkerchiefs any more?

I did not realize that he had given her his tie. Nice catch! And you’re right about needing a hankie, especially on a Wednesday night show.

There was a quick shot of her standing there holding the tie, and as he closed his collar was open. It looked like a really nice shot silk tie, too; but if the wardrobe people are too dumb to give him a hankie on Wednesday, oh well.

I’m surprised she stayed in her chair. She was swaying side to side and thought she’d fall over.

We just figured she stole the tie from him. And intended to keep it to practice some voodoo. I know I would if I was the competition’s “steak” and was bumped off before AFed’s McBurger. A horrendous decision. I feel like this is my NCAA pool all over again. One of my final four gone early on, and another on shaky ground.

Yes.

Whatever the voting’s about, it sure isn’t who’s a good singer.

Nadia?
Scott.
Nadia?
For God’s sake, Scott!

Nadia?

Sorry, had to take a minute to sort that out.

At least Anwar is safe.

Scott is safe.

Scott is safe?!

There truly is no justice.

I don’t understand this.

Shouldn’t you be voting for the one who is most talented? And not the one you feel sorry for because they might get booted?
