American Idol 4/25

Yes. Although I still believe the worst offender was Carmen “the Goat Girl” Rasmussen. For some reason it doesn’t bother me as much when Chris does it. Perhaps because I am picturing him naked the whole time he’s on screen. And feeling guilty as hell for committing adultery in my mind. But hey, if Jimmy Carter finds it forgiveable, then I’m aiight with it, too.

Paula started out like a weepy drunk, but then changed. She must be mixing her stash.

That song should be on every Top Five to get busy to list, ever. It’s for when hot monkey lovin’ transcends mere flesh and becomes a spiritual experience, y’know?

Didn’t anyone get out to see American Dreamz this week? It slayed me, I thought for sure more of the thread-regulars would have seen it.

Was it good? I’d like to see it, but I haven’t yet, because my wedding anniversary was yesterday and I wanted to score, and my husband gets jealous when I watch movies with Hugh Grant in them, because Hugh is dreamy, with that accent and all that lovely wavy hair … mmmm.

I think the Powers That Be at AI and Fox would let a “I want to do you like an animal” pass. I can’t see them letting “you bring me closer to God!” used in that context, though.

It was really fun, as in laugh until my sides hurt type of fun. Assure your husband that it’s safe, Hugh looks rode hard and put away wet, seriously tore up, but the accent’s still yummy.

I forgot the numbers already, except Kat was 1/7 and Chris was 6/10. Are the rest Elliott Paris La Pickler and Taylor, in that order? Or has my memory utterly and finally deserted me? Because if Elliott is 2, I’ve tried him a couple times just out of curiosity, and got through with only one redial each time. And I thought he was the best of the night, strangely enough. I also liked Chris for probably only the second time, and I thought Paris was great; she went far enough away fromm Streisand to take the karaoke out of it that was Kat’s downfall.

Oh, and my husband pointed out that Kat’s dress flattened her assets.

Oh, I am a bad, bad girl, because that sounds wonderful. I love fixing things, you know?

Biggirl, thanks! I know the song, but I always forget the name of it! Yea, it would be nice to have Chris naked singing that song…

Hey rockle, if you really want to see American Dreamz, we can go to the AMC theater at 22 Flutie Pass in Framingham, MA.

(I had to laugh because I too share that irrational hatred!)

Got spackle?

I missed the show tonight. Will someone tell me what everyone sang?

Kat 01/07

Elliot 02/08

Kellie 03/09

Paris 04/10

Taylor 05/11

Chris 06/12
After the first half hour I got through on Chris, Taylor and Paris pretty easily. I also gave Elliot one try and got through. I think the extra numbers just helped free up the lines a bit.

OK, when Pickler walked out with that -do, was I the only one that thought of Cameron Diaz in ‘*Something about Mary’ * when she took some of Ben Stillers ‘hair gel’? I can’t be.

So, this really works?? It must.

I tuned in because I love Bocelli, but it seemed like it was Fosters show.

RickJay’s Ratings

Yes, I’m back!

PAULA DRUNKENNESS RATING: 8/10. She controlled it a bit towards the middle but she was clearly loaded all the same.

In order of performance quality:

  1. ELLIOTT YAMIN. Bad song choice but a technically wonderful performance, and he’s warmed up a little.

  2. CHRIS DAUGHTRY. Started off bad, but got better; in this case his insistence on doing a rocker version of everything actually worked out okay.

  3. PARIS BENNETT. She showed singing chops but I agree with Simon that it was a… curious song shoice. This is the third or fourth time she’s picked a song that just seems too old for her. I think she’ll end up winning though.

  4. TAYLOR HICKS. I used to like him but now he bores me. He sings every song the same way; it’s funny that Chris gets ripped for this but Taylor doesn’t, yet Taylor is probably even more guilty of it. It’s the Taylor Schtick every time out. Nice guy, but doesn’t deserve to win.

  5. KATHARINE MCPHEE. As stunningly beautiful as ever, and tonight she was especially gorgeous. Unfortunately, she appears to be running out of steam. It wasn’t as awful as the judges said but it was pretty uninspired.

I was in the Canadian army many years ago. On my combat leader’s course there was this girl named Tara. Lovely young lady, very nice, from Alberta I think. For some reason, she moved at only half the speed other people did - I mean, literally. When we did drill instruction she just could not match the timings; every bodily movement she did was at half speed. She lifted a kn ee at half speed, turned at half speed, saluted at half speed, everything. You’d tell her “Tara, you’re really slow” and she said she was trying to go faster, but just kept moving slowly. It was weird. Anyway, one day one of the instructors really bitched her out, got really personal, and she got mad - and moved at full speed! Hooray! So he told her “Much better, Corporal soandso” and then she immediately reverted back to half speed - as near as I can tell, totally unconsciously.

Katharine is the musical version of Tara. She’s giving it about 50, maybe 60 percent, and she doesn’t seem to realize it. She never really pushes her voice, doesn’t usually do much on stage, uses the same hackneyed expressions. I wonder if what she doesn’t need is to get ANGRY before a performance. But, now it’s too late.

  1. THE PICKLER - That was fucking atrocious.

Bottom three:

Chris
Paris
Pickler

Pickler goes home.

Well if dialidol.com is correct, we should be throwing all our votes to Paris to get rid of Kellie. As of right now, they have the boys on the top and the girls on the bottom.

My own personal rankings (I watched this with my dad this week):

Chris: Wow! I thought he did an excellent job with such a treacly song. Dad and I were impressed. I loved the bit about lying on the floor. Too cute! I did think he had a bit of vibratto or something on the last word. I can’t remember now what it was I said though. I’ll have to watch it again.

Elliott: Excellent vocals. I just love him. I’m so glad he is still in the competition and hope he stays to the top 3 at the very least. Dad thinks he’s okay, but did a good job tonight.

Katharine: Beautiful, gorgeous – looks and voice. I did hate the smile & wave thing. Her biggest flaw is not feeling the meaning of the song. I hope she can overcome that, because I love her and so does Dad. His first comment was “Wow!”, as I’m sure a lot of other people’s was with that opening boob shot! Andrea and what’s his name seemed to like her a lot.

Paris: I missed part of this with the baby crying, but from what I heard it was very good, but just kind of meh. She’s not wowing or a standout like the others. I like her and hope she doesn’t go this week, but don’t think she can win it all.

Taylor: Decent but not there for me. I don’t dislike him, it’s just that each week he underwhelms me more and more.

Kellie: GAH! Terrible terrible. Dad used to be a big fan and vote for her every week the whole time, but he gave up on her last week and this week he said he hopes she goes home. Some of her notes were off and she definitely was robotic and scared. I hope it’s her but am afraid it’s Paris.

I’m not sure winning this season of American Idol should really be something to brag about. They’re all various degrees of bad. Half of any of the other top tens would blow the doors of these jokers.

Does anyone know of any sites where you can get video clips from past seasons? I’d love to watch some of my favorite performances again and also see some of the people from before I started watching. I’m not having any luck searching for them.

OMG NO !!! You aren’t the only one! My friend Pat and I were doing our usual Idol IMing thru the show, and that is EXACTLY what I told her !

Please God… let’s get rid of The Pickler…
