American Idol 5/1 & 2

Jordin is trying hard but I think she’s a little too out of her element. I’ve always wanted to see an AI theme that would push the contestants to do hard rock. Jordin doesn’t seem to know how to do it. She wasn’t terrible but that was karaoke. The power wasn’t there.

Oh, they’re not really giving that good appraisal of Jordin’s singing “Living on a Prayer”.

Hmm… I like this, but perhaps the music is drowning the voice.

Not the best… but I think she did mostly ok.

I think Simon is wrong about Jordin’s look, but he never does like anything that doesn’t look squeaky clean and conservative.

Lakisha might do well. She has a big voice. I just hope she doesn’t get too Broadway.

I missed Phil (I consider that a plus). Jordin was ok; not as bad as they made her out to be. I thought her look was great – especially the hair! She’s a doll. Everyone gets a tough week. This was hers.

Not me, I thought she was terrible. I was busy cooking dinner but I heard it and, ugh.

I have similar fears about Melinda…if she pulls this off she has a fan for life. I’m sure she will be on key and everything but I have my doubts that she can pull off Rock and Roll.

I though Jordin’s performance was fun. Not her best vocal, but it sounded like she made a sincere effort, and I give her props for that. And she rocked that look! She must have hidden away from the “let’s squech spontenaiety” stylists this week.

I just realized why I’m digging the big Jordin hair. It’s this earworm I’ve got. I have been making my poor husband deaf belting out Chaka Khan’s Sweet Thing (oh, did Mary J do it too?). Jordin tuned right in with that Chakaish rat’s nest.

Bad wardrobe choice for Lakisha. Big girls should not wear tight clothes.

her singing is good. She’s making it sound like herself. You’d never know this was a Bon Jovi song.

Hate the plastic hair. This is the best outfit I’ve ever seen Lakisha wear.

And I hate to admit it, but I’m liking Lakisha better than Jordin. This doesn’t mean I don’t want her to go home.

Huh, I just realize now the comment of “Jon must be stone” could be true.

Hmm… a Jon Bon Jovi song I don’t know… But Lakisha sang it very very good. I liked the song thanks to her.

I don’t know this song LaKisha is singing, and I don’t think I like it. And I cannot understand a word she is singing. Oh … bridge. Now I recognize the song. Not that her diction is helping the cause any.

I don’t know how to feel about LaKisha. I should be happy she made the song her own, but I can’t help but feel cheated because she turned a pop-rock song into gospel for no reason other than making it easier for her to sing. Sure, her voice sounded good, but the song lost its original meaning for me.

LaKisha did great but these songs bore the living crap out of me.

Blake has balls, man. Everytime I see him do stuff like this, I think I should hate it but somehow he sells it. That was probably his most gimmicky performance ever and I totally dug it. There’s never been anyone on the show like him.

Blake is the most entertaining guy EVER on Idol. I loooove him!

Blake was bade-ass!

Blake is way too good for this show. I could see him opening for a Pet Shop Boys concert. And my faith in this show has been restored by the fact that none of the judges ragged on him for being different and original! Excuse me while I get up and dance…

Was Blake making the cowbell sound at the beginning of that song or was that real?

Sorry – on TiVo delay because I needed a smoke and some ice cream. What did Blake do to his hair? And also, I liked his performance, but I’m definitely not crazy about his singing. Ouch.
