What happened to Vonzell?
I think Vonzell’s performance was good, but demure… quiet…
That was the nicest I have ever seen Simon. I wonder what is wrong with Vonzell?
Is she crying because her dad looks just like Flavor Flav?
WOW… Anthony is doing good.
Now I remember why I hate country music. I am a sap and it makes me cry. A-fed should never be able to make me feel emotions.
Somebody please shoot me before the Earth crashes into the sun – Anthony is the best so far, I think. Maybe it’s time to start drinking.
Note: A-fed is not sucking right now.
And damn! That’s the song my best friend used to sing and practice all the time with me, the friend who follows american Idol.
Vonzell sounded shakey.
Does anybody know: is A-Fed’s song by the same jackhole who sings that craptacular “Butterfly Kisses” song? It sounds like the same sort of intentionally emotional drivel. Simon is right – it is a sort of cynical song. Or is that me?
No swimsuit? Damn! Guess we won’t be seeing A-Fed in the blue-and-white hot pants after all …
I’m really proud of him for not kicking her when she was down. There would have been no point. She was shakey and did sound like she was not quite in time with the music. I wonder if somebody died?
Carrie Underwood - Sin Wagon - Dixie Chicks - Oh no…this is terrible. Sin Wagon is a very powerful song and Carrie sounds so off. I have no idea what is going on with this arrangement. It’s too slow, it’s too drawn out, it’s too loud. The music drowned her out. This is her worse performance so far, I’m afraid. She looks a lot more alive for those of you who always say that she’s too stiff. Randy says what he loves about her is that he knows how she is and that she is ready for the record charts. Paula says Randy said it all. Simon says it was great. I’m floored. I like Carrie and I like the Dixie Chicks - particularly that song, but she did a horrible job on it.
Bo Bice - Great Day to Be Alive - Travis Tritt - He started off far shakier than I expected but it’s a competent performance. Nothing great until he gets to the finale. He sounds a lot like Travis Tritt in tone and voice but it’s just not doing a lot for me. I don’t know if it’s me this week or the sound or what. Randy says blah blah, dogpound…it wasn’t a great song but he’s doing his thang and he’s brilliant. Paula says that now is the time to pick songs that even he feels are a challenge because that seemed like a song that was easy. Simon says it was very boring. He said it was lazy and uninspiring.
Vonzell Solomon - How Do I - Trisha Yearwood - Dear Vonzell, thank you for doing the Trisha version of this song instead of the Leann Rimes cracked out version. She’s just so pretty, I don’t think I can say that enough. This is a song that can really showcase an awesome voice. Again, it’s shaky, the music is too loud and she sounds a little bit like she is not fully rehearsed. Her second verse is better. She’s done the best performance so far, not that that says much. Hard song, she didn’t “knock it out of the ballpark” but she did a’ight. Randy says it started a little rough and he felt like the song was too slow but in the end she always brings it home. He says she always picks the most difficult song to sing. Paula asks how she’s feeling tonight. Vonzell said she had a rough day today and Paula says that’s ok. She says she’s a beautiful performer and she wears her heart on her sleeve. Simon says that she looks and sounds incredibly nervous tonight and she’s obviously very emotional. Did something happen that we don’t know about? (~bets she gets sympathy votes from that~)
Anthony Fedorov - I’m Already There - Lonestar - Wow, did y’all hear his accent come out on that first voice? I wonder if that’s because of his mom’s video. He is actually doing better than anyone else has tonight, outdoing Vonzell’s nervous performance by a slight margin. That’s a good song for his range, the band didn’t screw up quite as badly and the song is really that slow, for a chance. Randy says he has to give him props because that was good. Paula says it was a good performance, pick harder songs. Simon says he sang it well, but he feels like the whole show this week is like Ms. Universe. Simon says the song felt a bit strange, cynical, gooey and syrupy. (Um, ok…)
Speaking as a person who really likes country music, this sucks. I don’t know if it’s the musicians or just the performers. Maybe it’s their song choices, or maybe I’m being too hard on them because I know these particular songs very well but it’s not working.
On preview - rockle, TMBG? Rock on!
Is Carrie wearing extensions in her hair? I don’t like them. But she is doing better this time, and she looks almost human. Did she get Botox in her face? Her cheeks and her forehead aren’t moving.
No, that was Bob Carlisle.
And I think it’s a sweet song, not cynical at all.
That was incredibly blah.
I think he was more curious as to why it took you until today to figure out that Anfernee deserves to be here moreso than Scott.
I was wondering if it was something other than that, Good Egg.
That was just awful, Carrie. It’s got nothing to do with her being country. That song should be easy to rock, especially for a country girl. I didn’t like The Hole much either. Bo and Vonzell were just O.K. so far.
Not a good night for anyone.
Was that the first time a judge blamed the band? (Who should be blamed far more often, IMO)
Wow. None of the judges liked Carrie that time, either. Maybe it isn’t just me, then. I’m actually surprised that they thought the song was not “her” and I wonder what they would have suggested instead. Does this mean that if Carrie goes this week (pleaseohpleaseohplease!) that it won’t be a “shock”?
