David Stern is God?
I kind of think of the duets as bonus material, like the group songs. They didn’t even flash the numbers at the bottom. (Did the judges give feedback? I didn’t watch any of the clips all the way through.)
So who’s going home this week?? I can’t guess! Gokey was so very, very awful and is such a douche, but apparently people vote for him. Kris has had less than stellar performances two weeks running. On the other hand, from what I’ve read elsewhere on the net, Kris’s fans are more fired up about the negative comments than Allison’s fans. So who’s going home?
Rachael, you’re so right about the Idol moment of the week. Allison just looked so thrilled to be there. So cute.
Oh why do I even care any more? Perhaps because I’ve been reminded lately how utterly classy David Cook is?
Anyway, Adam’s good - but a “Rock God”?? no.
Didn’t think I could hate Gokey anymore, but yes, I hate him more than ever.
This week reminded me of an episode of Psych (on USA network, for the uninitiated) entitled American Duos. At least they were funny. Gokey was just unbearably awful.
Not a rock fan so I just have to go on overall feeling. Adam is consistently great. I love Allison and I thought she was great too. How can they call her out for the song not having a melody? It had just as much melody as any other. The duet was great but talk about no melody! It was the same phrase over and over although sung great. I just love them both. Adam seems like such a nice guy. I just love his chubby cheeks (although he’s going to have to watch his weight soon).
The Danny/Kris duet wasn’t good but I agreed that the harmonies were excellent. Kris’ song was OK and I do like the way he changed it up. I hope he stays. Danny’s song was awful. If he actually changed it up to put in that scream then he deserves to go home. If he did it because it was in the original than why don’t the judges call him out for copying the original. In any case, I know that some fans criticize Adam for screeching too much but there is a huge difference between Adam screaming in tune in a musical way and Danny torturing a cat. I want him gone so bad. Unfortunately, I think that Kris is history.
I kept expecting her to give him a kiss. She had that look in her eye.
I agree. People complain about Adam’s screechiness, but at least he can do it. Danny is so bad even can’t even reach Adam’s worst.
The scream is in the original; Slash said that Danny would be judged primarily on how well he pulled it off.
As to the judges’ criteria with regards to adherence to the original…don’t expect consistency. If they don’t like a performance, they can use the “karaoke” club to beat the contestant with.
Awful episode all around. Did Slash steer them all to songs with no melody?
Adam did the same shtick as always: Rocky Horror meets [weekly theme]. This time it made him seem lightweight and, for the first time, out of his depth. The clothes looked forced and the performance came across as posing.
Allison hit the same one note she always does, so presumably the people who vote for her will do so again. I had hoped that rock week would bring out something special from her, but for me it just exposed her lack of range.
Kris was also out of his depth again. Looking to the Beatles for a rock choice was not a bad idea, but “Come Together” was still too rough-edged for him. He would have been better off with “Revolution.”
Danny was a disaster. Way out of his wheelhouse; totally lifeless. The botched scream will be the only thing anyone remembers.
All of the songs had a melody.
Why do I keep thinking that Helter Skelter would have been a great song for Adam Lambert?
As for the remaining eliminations, let’s hope the Siamese Twins are voted out quickly so that the two more talented ones (in my humble opinion) get to battle it out…
I don’t think that was lip synched. I bet Slash put his foot down.
The audio was poorly synced at the intro. Is it just me, or has this show seemed like the production values have gone way downhill?
Everybody seemed off for “Schools Out”. Even Allison and I expected her to slay that song.
Got I hate autotuners.
No way in hell is this live.
I think this is hell, though.
It’s like when the group/album Boston came out and every guitar player had the Sholz Rockman guitar processing sound.
Remember the obvious programmed drum machine tracks of the early eighties?
Hey, No Doubt got thier chick singer back!
Gwen sounds like crap. And why is she doing push ups?
