Well, at the moment, on Dialidol, Antonella is in 3rd position, after Melinda (1st) and Lakisha (2nd). Those are the only 3 safe ones among the girls.
Melinda really got to me with that song. I expected the judges to hate it, they don’t usually like jazz standards, but that was really a hot performance.
I loved Lakisha, but Melinda made me cry.
Another quickie here… just to say that Doolittle is now my top pick.
I think the top two will be either her or LaKisha, and Blake.
I think Antonella and, uh, “Gawky girl” should be out tomorrow.
Melinda was outstanding. I’d also vote for #s 6, 9 and 10, but Doolittle by far is getting most of the votes from me.
I just didn’t care for Stephanie’s song choice.
Leslie didn’t do anything for me and neither did Alaina. It’s definately Women vs Girls out there with Melinda and LaKisha leading the way.
Stephanie and Jordan were okay tonight but M and L are in a different league altogether.
If Dial Idol is correct (and they usually are) those Vote for the Worst people have a lot to answer for.

Yup, we’re going to be stuck with her while more talented and less stupid people get booted. And TPTB at Idol have yet to address the pictures. Even if the x-rated pics aren’t Barba, the other pics definitely are her. So how are the producers going to spin things to justify keeping her when they let Frenchie go?
I loved Lakisha “Midnight Train”, it was a lot more subdued than last week but I always like to hear that song done well and she did it well. I think she needed some Pips though, perhaps a few of the guys should have been commissioned? I liked her softer hair, I didn’t think he looked plastic. I think the outfit was actually nice but orange was a bad color. Oh, and if Ryan doesn’t want people to question his sexuality he should not refer to orange as salmon.
Well, I think the guys showed the girls up big time this week. I saw many more enjoyable performances Tuesday night than I did last night.
Gina - I thought she butchered it. It’s one of my favorite songs of all time and I thought she shouted it, which I hate. Why don’t the judges give these girls the same advice on singing Ann & Nancy Wilson as they do on singing Christina/Mariah/Whitney (i.e. don’t do it)?
Alaina - Also really bad. Honey, you’re no Natalie Maines.
Lakisha - I loved this. After listening to Gina and Alaina screech, her performance sounded so silky smooth and effortless. I liked hearing something a little more subdued from her this week.
Melinda - What I heard was great. Her performance was interrupted for about 20 seconds by “An emergency has been declared in your area. For more details, please turn to channel 2.” (We’re in a blizzard warning today.)
Antonella - Worst of the night, and the attitude didn’t help.
Jordin - It was okay, but not great. I think Jordin has a great voice but didn’t like the song choice.
Stephanie - I loved her last week but thought she was forgettable last night. Didn’t like the song at all. I don’t like it when Beyonce sings it, either, even though I do like Beyonce. I think she needs to step it up a bit to compete with Melinda and Lakisha, but I think she’s got it in her.
Leslie - I know a lot of people liked her performance, but I hated it. I didn’t hear enough soul in her voice to sing a song like this. I couldn’t help comparing her performance to AJ’s from the night before and his was better by a mile.
Haley - Meh. She’d make a really great Snow White or something at Disney.
Sabrina - Nice. Again, not as good as last week but I still really like her and her voice. She’s also really gorgeous.
I’d send home Alaina and Antonella tonight, but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen.

Frenchie posed for a semi-porn site. Antonella had private pictures put on the internet against her will. AI can arguably say that Frenchie did something in the soft-core porn industry. Antonella did not. Frenchie got paid. Antonella did not. Frnchie knew where the pictures were going to end up. Antonella did not. AI has nothing to answer for. There’s no hypocrisy. Private photos are not the same as commercial photos.
I don’t think Frenchie should have been booted either but I really don’t think Antonella deserves to be booted.
I never vote but I voted a bunch of times for Antonella last night, just because I’m kind of annoyed by scarlet letter treatment she’s been getting. The TWOP boards are especially nasty. She’s a “skank,” she’s a “slut,” she has “diseases.” The hatred is over the top ridiculous for a 19 year old girl who never harmed anyone, or did anything illegal or did anything but have shitty friends. There’s something really misogynist about it, but most of the hatred seems to be coming from women. I wonder how many of them just hate her because they don’t have bodies like that.
Anyway, I’m all for the VFTW effort to keep her right now, just to infuriate the rock-throwers.
I missed the first three singers actual performances.
Once again, the women make me forget the men are even in it.
Of what I saw, Melinda and Sabrina owned the night.
Stephanie was incredible. Technically the best of the night. If she could push that through by adding a showstopping presentation, she’d be the best up there.
What I saw of Lakisha in the wrap-up surprised me. She’s got more than one trick up her sleeve.
Jordin was a little off but not by much, and very endearing, which didn’t hurt Kelly Clarkson in season one at all.
If the final weeks were determined by nothing but the talent on display this week, these women would be the last five standing. I’m almost certain there will be a black woman Idol this year, and she will be a damn sight better than Fantasia Barrino.
The rest of the women are forgettable to terrible, and the men as a group barely overlap the weakest of the women.

That’s silly. I can see throwing a lot of votes her way if you think she is being treated unfairly and you like the way she sings but voting for her just because she showed her cooch to the world is. . . counter to what Idol is about.
Like I said about this whole thing earlier. Those pictures do not change my feelings about Jersey Girl one iota. I didn’t like her attitude before the pictures came out and I sure as hell could not stand her singing. Because she can’t sing. Her singing is atrocious and for that reason alone she should be voted off.

I, like Biggirl, didn’t like Antonella’s singing or attitude before this whole thing came about and my feelings toward her have not changed. Sorry, but I think it’s dumb that people would vote to support her based on anything but her singing. Antonella’s just not a good singer. She is good at getting her picture taken, though, I’ll give her that. I foresee Antonella getting a nice offer from Playboy once she gets voted off and predict that she’ll do it. Maybe it could lead to a career in modeling.

The Dope isn’t TWOP, thank goodness, so please don’t assume that because some of us here feel she doesn’t belong on the show that we share the exact same thought processes as the TWOPers. I think we Dopers tend to state our points a little more thoughtfully and logically. I don’t think I have villified her here. If anything I have villified the producers for not being consistent.
I don’t think Antonella’s a slut or a skank for the topless photos. I do think she showed some bad judgement though. I would also say that Frenchie showed bad judgement having her photos done as well, but Frenchie was punished for hers.
I would argue that, in this day and age, anyone that has racy photos taken of themself and is not in sole possession of those photos, has to know they will end up in the public view and is okay with that. I object to her being treated as a victim because the poor girl’s friends betrayed her. If the photos were so personal and private, how did anyone else get them? Didn’t she have them on display on a webpage?
But I don’t hate her for having the racy photos taken or having a good body, I dislike her getting a break Frenchie didn’t get and probably taking away the break some of those other singers could use. The only difference with her and Frenchie, was that Frenchie was indeed a talented singer and she didn’t need the break being an Idol finalist could have given her, the preshows were enough to get her noticed. Antonella shouldn’t even be in the final 24, I still can’t believe they chose her over the other girl who was a much better singer, “Antonella, you’re pretty but your performances sucked. Other girl, you rocked it every performance. Other girl, your journey ends here.” What was that about?
The reason VFTW is supporting her is because she is indeed the worst singer and they want to piss off the true Idol fans by keeping bad performers, her pictures inciting rage in many people is just the icing on the cake for them because it pisses off even more people. But don’t mistake their support of her as any kind of righteous statement, they hate Idol and they hate Idol fans. Antonella does not have enough talent to make it as a pop star even if she does make it all the way to the final with NJ’s and VFTW’s help. And the hate-inducing, angrifying* result of that is that one or several truly talented singers will get sent home before her.
For the record, I think VFTW is loathsome. If you hate the show, hate the concept, hate the type of music it promotes or hate the type of singers it creates just don’t watch the show. Why do you have to piss on other people’s cornflakes? I also think they just plain tortured John Stevens. They don’t hurt the show, they hurt the performers and the fans. The show still goes on and gets high-ratings.

I loved Melinda’s performance. I usually am looking at my quilting and the sound alone reminded me of an accomplished professional singer, but I couldn’t decide who. I am very interested in how she will do when she has to follow a theme that may not be her forte. I know she’ll do fine; it will just be interesting to see her change it up.

I’m actually on your side of the argument. It sucks that Frenchie was kicked off, but that can’t be used as a comparison when deciding to boot Antonella. It’s a different situation.

The only thing I disagree with is your decision to vote for Antonella–not because of her looks, not because of her singing ability, not because of her personality (which I liken to a wet sponge)–but because of something that’s happening off the show.
