American Idol Feb 27-Mar 1

I don’t know this song (Beyoncé’s “Dangerously in Love,” apparently), so I’m having a hard time getting a take on it, but … does it always sound like ass? It didn’t sound like Stephanie was ever singing in time with the music. If that’s how the song is supposed to sound … well, I just don’t know what to say about that.

Once again I agree with Randy. I must go and reassess everything I believe in. Perhaps I’ll go into a cave for a year and meditate on matters of taste and opinion.

I’d give extra points for Stephanie for attempting such a complex song (Dangerously in Love by Beyonce). I agree with Simon: She demonstrated the complete package - looks, talent, presentation. A very good job in my book.

I. . .I don’t know what to say. As one old fart to another-- you never heard this song? For a while there, I couldn’t buy a pack of smokes without hearing it at least twice.

Perhaps if you heard Beyonce’s version you’d recognize it. As for it sounding like ass-- if you don’t like modern R&B, you will not like this.

Didn’t somebody already sing DogWalkerLeslie’s song? What am I confusing it with?

Crazy-Eyed Leslie does not suck ass but she sure looks like ass.

Ah, I feel better now. I do not agree with Randy at all.
OMG! Is Simon mocking Pauler’s drunken stutter? Ha ha ha! Wait… I’m still laughing. Ha!

Oh, no no no, Leslie Hunt! I want to love you because you’re singing (or trying to sing, anyway) the Nina Simone version of a Nina Simone song, but – CAPRI TIGHTS! NoooooooooOOooo! You’re dead to me. Plus, I kind of think AJ was better last night.

LilyoftheValley = AJ sang this same song last night.

Ah. Perhaps I ought to turn off the iPod from time to time?

Leslie: I thought this was a refreshingly down-to-earth performance.

Haley: I thought this was a fabulously over-the-top performance.

Complicated, ain’t I? I guess what I’m trying to say is I respect both for making the songs their own.

Boy, another singer who I forgot before she finished singing. I had to wait until they put Haley’s number up before I realized she’d performed and finished.
P.S. Son just came in from school and liked Haley very much. At least he liked her bouncing boobies. He especially liked her shirt and is of the opinion all women should wear titsling shirts at all times.

I think the next time someone says “I wasn’t even going to audition but someone made me do it”, they should be booted off the show. Didn’t wanna be here? Then go away!

Thank you! I was starting to worry about myself. Odd that the judges didn’t mention it…

Ooooooh … how did Sabrina know that “All The Man That I Need” is my very most favoritest Whitney Houston song? She’s not anywhere near as good as Whitney, or even close – in fact, I don’t think she’s very good, actually – but I love the song.

Poor Sabrina died on that last note. She’s very pretty and she does have a nice voice.
The girls had a bad night. Still, the girl’s bad night was still 50% better than the boy’s good night.

I thought Sabrina was quite good, but not extraordinary…and there were more extraordinary singers this evening.

I’ll have to make sure to drive through Point Pleasant this weekend. I need to see if stores still have their “Go Antonella” signs up, or if they’ve come to their senses and changed them to “Come Home Antonella”.

Was that on purpose? Because I think Atonella is a perfect moniker for her…atonal, atonement :stuck_out_tongue:

Ha! No, just a fortuitous typo.

I loved Melinda. I’ve decided for sure that I like her better than LaKisha. I actually wouldn’t mind putting her performance on my mp3 player. I’ve never heard the song before, but I don’t see why so many people hate it. I see that it was done by Chet Baker, which doesn’t surprise me because it reminded me of him.

I actually like Leslie a lot. She has this quality of weirdness about her, but the good kind of weirdness.

I didn’t like one single song choice tonight. All those Whitney, Celine, Christina songs sound like vocal gymnastic caterwauling to me. The melodies are so buried in riffs, I honestly can’t tell one from the other. I loved Melinda and LaKisha, though, and (oddly) Leslie.

  1. Melinda Doolittle
  2. LaKisha Jones
  3. Leslie Hunt
  4. Jordin Sparks
  5. Sabrina Sloan
  6. Stephanie Edwards
  7. Haley Scarnato
  8. Gina Glocksen
  9. Alania Alexander
  10. Antonella Barba

On preview, I forgot that LaKisha sang Midnight Train to Georgia, which actually does have a melody. One I’ve heard a million times, too, old fart that I am.
