Oooh! My spidey sense is tingling. Do you think Simon and Paula’s remarks (after the last girl was eliminated) reflect a belief that people are voting for bad contestants on purpose, or do they think the audience is voting based on looks and other…assets? Or did they just like the girl that got voted off better?
That last “Why did I decide to scat?” was a funny way to go.

Deeply ironic moment of the evening: During the group number, having A.J. sing the line “You know I loved the ladies”.

… this is the first time two people who sang the same song were eliminated in the same week.
Not sure what’s going on, but I suspect a curse. Or else, mediocrity.
Was Seacrest hinting that Pickler had gotten breast implants when he asked her what she had spent her money on and when she said “shoes” he kept asking “anything else? anything else?”.
Wow, can Kelly Pickler ever not sing. That was freakin’ painful, and she’s touring? Oy me.
Oh yeah, I hate the “sing out,” too. I’m too busy crying to sing at the moment, if you don’t mind.
No one should be asked to sing out. They should be allowed to say their good-byes and not have to cry their way through a song. God knows, there’s plenty more filler that the A.I. producers could use to take up time.
Both Antonella and Sanjaya aeem to be getting votes for something other than their singing talent. :dubious:

Nick and Alaina were cannon fodder/on borrowed time, so I don’t feel too bad. Shame about AJ, though. After Tuesday, I thought he might pull an Elliot and outlast many others by improving while they stagnated or regressed. So much for that.
And so much for the TWOP theory that Leslie was the Stealth Chosen One, based on, she was shown in the previews way back in early January, but not seen between then and the Chair episode. Seriously, I wonder if they ever listen to themselves over there. So many of their theories could only be supported by a psychic link to the producers, and often psychic abilities on the part of the producers as well.
Oh, and the singout does have a purpose. It’s the last chance for the booted contestant to make an impression. I don’t think it’s cruel; cruel would be not allowing it and giving the impression, “You sucked so bad, nobody wants to hear you sing again ever.”
Also, people keep saying how rough this competition was on John Stevens? Not really. Back then, people kept saying, “This must be so awful for him!” but I recall him being fairly stoic. Sanjaya, on the other hand, is like the Tin Man in Wizard of Oz. I’m less and less sure he’s up to this at all.
Fame has ruined the Pickler. When she was Hayseed Girl, she had some endearing qualities and was an OK Country Singer (which I hate to begin with). Now she’s just so overproduced that it borders on criminal. Who in The FUCK did her hair? Her Knew Knockers had Mr. K’s attention, but the whole experience was kinda like going to a funeral and seeing a corpse that was made up to the point that the body was unrecognizable. Poor thing.
I can’t believe they dumped Chicago Strawberry Blonde and kept Jersey Girl.
Sandy (I call him Sandy cuz we’re pals like that-- in my head) has a nice voice, when you can hear it. The thing is, he’s got a real, family induced inferiority complex. Coming this far in the competition should have relieved him of some of it but it looks like it is only making him anxious waiting for the ax to fall.
AND-- a big, public SORRY to lissner for snarking at him for no reason in last week’s AI thread. By the time I came to the conclusion that I sideways sniped him rather badly, the thread was closed.
Shame about Leslie and AJ. I mean, I didn’t like Leslie’s performance this week but she definitely wasn’t the worst or even second worst girl. AJ’s just a victim of the vote for those worst assholes who are helping to vote off talented people while keeping others around to torture (poor Sanjaya). Next week I think Haley’s definitely gone for the girls, and probably Brandon for the guys. Sanjaya and Antonella should go, but probably won’t.
