American Idol Mar 20/21

I hate you Howard Stern. You may have caused Sanjaya to stay! Dick.
What did he say?
Why is Sanjaya still in this competition?
I think there’s another CS thread about that right now, but here is a summary:
The VFTW contingent is large and powerful, and Howard Stern is somehow involved…?

Damn. Stephanie should have been able to go on tour.

30 million votes? Does anyone honestly believe that ONE TENTH of the entire country votes for American Idol? You’d think they’d be taking some kind of measures to protect against repeat voting by now.

As for Stephanie being sent home, is the (lack of) intelligence of the American Idol fanbase really that big a shock? I gave up on this show when Kelly Clarkson pt. 2 (Down on the Farm) beat out Bo Bice, who was 10 times her superior.

See here for more on how Howard Stern is allegedly making Sany stay…

My son on Lulu-- Man, she has a sweet rack!
Me: She’s older than your granddad.
Son ::boggle::

I am not surprised at all by the bottom 2. I’d be a stupid American-- if I voted.

Stephanie looked really beautiful tonight. She seemed like such a nice girl and I thought she, overall, was probably top 5. Sorry to see her go.

I thought it was crying little girls that keep him on the show.
Right . . . people from all kinds of geographical places with one thing in common. Are you seriously arguing that their religious beliefs are as varied as their home addresses?
polite cough Guys, this is Cafe Society. Have a cappuchino and biscotti and talk abot American Idol, please.
Poor Stephanie. She didn’t deserve to go but her performance this week was forgettable.

Stern is unoriginal and late to the party. He can’t even think of his own gimmick to get some free publicity. VFTW started the whole deal, Howard’s acting like he just thought of it.

Then there’s the story on Countdown on MSNBC saying last night’s crying girl was a plant.

No group sing or singout either, hmph.

I loved Lulu and Peter, sure, but they could have skipped the useless recap at the beginning and charity filler and the whole Brad Garrett thing and at least had the horrifically cheesy group number that I love.
Already done. After the commercial revenue they lost during the 3 weeks it took to decontaminate the stage after Ruben Studdard’s “movement” it’s not gonna happen again.

…? For those of us who haven’t seen previous seasons, can you 'splain?

I have seen previous seasons and I still have no idea what he’s talking about.

From Soapbox Monkey:
30 million votes?
Yep.

Does anyone honestly believe that ONE TENTH of the entire country votes for American Idol?
Nope. 30M votes =/= 30M voters.

You’d think they’d be taking some kind of measures to protect against repeat voting by now.
Why? This is not an election where each citizen gets one vote. People are allowed to vote as often as they can for any candidate(s) they choose (with certain restrictions). The show does not see repeat voting as something that needs to be “protected against.”

Lulu acted like she was having a problem with her earpiece, didn’t she?

She still belted it out.

Yes, but is the rack that old? :dubious:

And re: 30 million votes - I imagine it’d be easy to limit the number of votes per line or whatever, but they seem to enjoy trotting out a huge number every week to cement their status as the Most Popular Show Ever, so I wouldn’t count on it.

I’ve only watched 1/2 an episode this season so far, but I had to share my boyfriend’s comment re: Chris R. on last week’s show:

He suffers from…whiteness.

hee!

It’s a whoosh. There wasn’t a G.G. Allin theme night. Ol’ G.G. was known for crapping himself during concert and occasionally eating it - yum! Sampiro ran with the joke upthread, suggesting that if Ruben Studdard did a G.G. Allin-inspired show, it would be pretty messy.

Someone please pass the brain bleach. I could very happily have lived out the rest of my life without having known G.G. Allin’s claim to fame.

I blame the parents.

Yep, definitely.
