American Idol week of 3/2

The way she sang it wasn’t easy. It’s like saying Tina Turner picked an “easy song” with Proud Mary. Not saying that Crystal is on par with Tina, but simple songs are templates for bluesy singers.

The way she sang it WAS easy. Sorry, but it was. Her voice is good enough unadorned that she doesn’t have to work hard to sound good, but she really did nothing but sing a pentatonic scale.

Oh, but now you’re pretending to have the expertise to judge my assessment of the evaluations of… wait, this is way too meta for me.

Well, if you just said that instead of “What a bitch! She picked a stupid easy song! She thinks she’s too good for the show!” You’d come across a bit more intelligently.

Just sayin’.

Some of the singers are good this year - very good. I enjoy listening to them. Some of them are battling nerves and simply being young; most of them are battling bad (misguided?) song choices. The one who wins will be the one who makes the most out of what God gave them, and that will include savvy (marketable) song choices as well as singing them well, topped off with a heaping helping of charisma. At the end of the day, 19 wants to market a singer/sell records/make money.

Uh, what were we arguing about again?

Fudge.

Between Todrick and John, I really wanted to give John another chance instead of Todrick. John has a much nicer voice and isn’t a total asshole.

Also, since when did the group sings use lip-synching AND Autotune? This really is a horrid bunch.

I’m glad it worked out that way between the two that AI decided to pit against each other (seriously, what logic do they use for that head to head?) but Tim is staying and John is going? WT friggin F?

My household enjoyed the group sing. In fact, hubby says he usually hates group sing but enjoyed that one.

Where’s your jesus now, mister!

The head to heads, as I explained to my hubby, are not based any voting. They are based on what the producers think will get them the results they want next week. I firmly believe this. I believe they wanted viewers to think that those two fellows were somehow equal in the votes. I don’t believe that at all.

I’ve always suspected this, especially because Ryan never says “these are the bottom two,” he says “one of them is going home.” Well, duh.

Just when I thought Danny Gokey was out of my life forever, there he is, babbling away like a moron.

That said, having encountered him in RL, he is somewhat charming and less douchey in person. Still douchey, but less so.

That’s what you get for doing CREED, missy!

I am so kicking ass in the Idol pool this week - w00t!

ETA: helloooo? anyone there? And wow, her sing-out sucks balls too.

Yikes. I missed the girls last night, and now I’m kind of glad I did. Michelle was not good.

Hey Rach, we try to not to spoil it for the west coast. Just saying.

Also, I think she was one of the better voices. Too bad she’s gone.

And tonight on Idol, we have ethnic cleansing.

So it goes.

When I started watching AI years ago, it seemed it was a lot more fun. Everyone on the show this year seems kind of serious and grim. There’s no smack talk between Simon and Ryan. The contestants this year are meh. Simon is leaving. AI is going downhill.

OOPs, so sorry. I forgot from last year. :o
