My cockatiel’s breath smells like [del]cockatiel food[/del] ass.
He won’t eat anything except millet. There is a whole little tub of tasty seeds in his cage, but he seems to have decided they’re bird little instead of food.
Sorry for the lack of pictures. My phone screen decided to turn itself into a little LCD kaleidoscope thing on Thursday, so I can’t use the camera. New one should be here post haste.
I am running the clean function on my oven. It is very stinky. I should have waited till I could open the windows. Not smart… But at least I’ll have a clean oven tomorrow. It’s been accumulating a lot of crud over the last couple of years.
And I just downloaded another half dozen different dishcloth patterns. Can’t wait to try them out!
Buy pita (thin pita will work best), make tahini sauce (tahini, garlic, water, cumin, salt, chopped garlic, a little sugar, blend) and use tzatziki or lemon/garlic/olive oil for sharpness.
Go to your nearest fast food joint with good fries. Take the sauces and the pita, or get takeout and bring them home. Lay pita flat, fill with fries, drizzle sauces on top, wrap it up. Eat it.
Got the idea from the newish John Thorne book, Mouth Wide Open, and the tahini sauce recipe from Eat Me.
I figure it’s mildly more healthy than the traditional British chip butty, but I’m probably delusional.
My dog’s breath smells like rotten lizards. Ick. Lizard season is upon us.
French Fry Tahini sounds wonderful!
We had the most beautiful day today - and of course I had to work. But at least I got to go to Sweet Tomatoes - the most awesomest salad and soup bar in the world. Mondays are Cream of Mushroom Soup day. I think my grammar got FUBAR’ed (heh!) on that last sentence, but oh well.
ReboSon came over for dinner (and a grocery boost.) We had BBQ chicken legs and sausage, beans, macaroni salad, and corn on the cob. Mmm.
LiLi, sounds yummy… albeit hugely fattening. Kind of reminds me of the gyros I get from one of the places down on the Danforth, who serve up their sandwiches with a generous stuffing of big fat french fries. Nom nom nom.
swampus, it’s not an uncommon feeling among call centre folks. Once you get into the back office, you start to realise that for every dumb customer, you’ve got at least one dumb call centre employee. Good thing I’m now in the kind of position where I can make those people’s lives miserable by messing with their access privileges. (but I’m just too gosh-darned nice to do much besides dream about it)
Time for bed, methinks. I’ve just spent a lovely romantical evening with the laptop and a bunch of spreadsheets, reading through the documentation for the third time to try to wrap my head around it (not surprisingly, it actually made even less sense on this read-through). Sigh.
I got home, and no one was dead or missing huge chunks of flesh. Nelly just might let loon boy live till age 2. tomorrow, I get [del]shanghaied[/del] elected as recording secretary fro the Booster club, and Wednesdy is a Cool Bars for the playoffs. W00T!!!11ONE! I ain’t sniffing either dog’s breath.
kai  I’m glad you’re feelin’ all better though.
doggio how kind of Nelly to spare Gordie for a while at least.
Muppet we do have dumb people on the floor. Trust me, I know. Like we can’t tell when somebody’s call avoiding or doing stuff like ordering phones for friends or messing in somebody’s account. I’ve seen people walked off the floor for going into their or friends’ accounts, using the system for orders over the phone, taking a call and forwarding it on without actually ever talking to somebody and putting a note in the account about stuff allegedly done before transfer to another team or division, and even laid back in a chair sleepin’. Ummm… folks, yes we indeed do monitor your activity while you are logged in. Those who are caught doin’ illegal stuff like messin’ around in somebody’s account pretty much wind up bein’ arrested a few days afterwards also, as well. It is illegal and much time is spent explainin’ exactly why it is illegal and what the consequences will be and having people acknowledge in writing that all this has been explained time and time again. Le sigh. Dumbassery knows no bounds.
Speakin’ of fun stuff, I get to go to trainin’ today. Envy me!
WTF. I’m sure I must have slept… I know this because I lay down in bed last night, closed my eyes, and when I opened them again it was the following morning and the sun was peeping out on the horizon. I’m almost completely sure this means I slept during that interim period, rather than the alternative explanations like fatigue-induced time travel into the next morning once my eyes closed, or an abbreviated night-time of 3 hours due to capricious deities.
So why am I so Og-darned sleepy?
swampus, I guess call centre reps are the same no matter where you go. I’ve heard the same stories here (and more). And yet, they just keep trying to game the system.
I don’t regularly MMP, but I figure this is the place for this type of thing.
I’m leaving the house in about 10 minutes to go to a memorial service - the woman who lived across the street from me growing up passed away on Friday. Here’s where the drama comes in:
Her son was my closest friend for most of my life. With the exception of a couple periods where we didn’t live near each other, we were pretty much inseparable from the time we were three years old until about 10 years ago. That’s when my sister-in-law left my wife’s brother for him, and the two of them ran off to Florida together.
This’ll be the first time I’m seeing him since then, and I’m so intensely torn between family loyalty, and how damn much I miss my friend.
Finally getting started this morning on what we usually start on Monday morning. And it’s due by 9 a.m. tomorrow morning so it has to be finished tonight, regardless of how long it takes. Yippee. I love doing two days work in one day.
On the good news front, we got the announcement of summer hours today - work an extra hour Mon-Thurs and then get out at noon on Fri during the summer. Starting the week before Memorial Day. Hopefully I can work it out so I work through lunch and stick to 8-5… have to see what my manager thinks. I really don’t like sticking around until 6. If not, I may only do summer hours a few times and just take 1/2 day Fridays instead. Works out much better for me. But it’s still really nice that they offer it.
I had my second mammo and the ultrasound this morning. This time the squish was a tad more sadistic. I won’t know anything till I hear from my doctor in a couple days.
It is raining and we have a tornado watch till 2 pm.
Liquor store fire epilogue: The mom with the burns went home from the hospital yesterday. The damages to the store and inventory totals about a million bucks, with the building declared a total loss and condemned. This particular location was also the distribution warehouse for several other ABC stores, so their daily operations are directly affected.
Criminal charges are also supposed to be in store for mom the driver.
I didn’t catch if it was the patron or the clerk; but rumor has it that the county liquor board will be honoring whoever it was that risked their life to rescue mom and the kids from the van, amid the flames. My hat certainly goes off to her…
