Still working on reconfiguring my phone after changing ROMs. So far, the new one seems good, but I now have to tweak settings, put all my shortcuts back, etc.
At the rate today’s going so far, at least I’ll have a “stuck in the bathroom” project. Ugh.
Sorry, accidental double post. Not sure what went wrong there.
Good morning all - happy Moonday. Yes, I’m smiling this morning, trying out the power of positive thinking. It’s a good thing.
All signs have been pointing to me getting that shingles vaccine, I think. I don’t like getting shots (who does?!), so it’s just a matter of pushing down that particular dislike (lol okay, fear!) and making the appointment at the pharmacy. Yes, the pharmacy! I’m checking into if it will cost me anything - I’m not sure, but I think preventative vaccines are all covered; the shingles one should be covered for those 60 and over. My Dad and one of my brothers have had it, and it’s very painful and takes a long time to heal from. I definitely want to avoid that!
Thinking of Apes, has anyone heard anything from her - is the baby here yet?! Sending warm fuzzy thoughts and prayers her way. And to anyone else who needs them.
Hope everyone has a good day!
**tarra **- **Apes **posted in the old MMP earlier today, but she hasn’t followed the link I posted to get here. Obviously, this whole pregnancy thing is messing with her brain… Good luck with your shot. When I have to be needled, I look in the opposite direction and try to think happy thoughts. It doesn’t always work, but I still try.
Last load is out on the lines. It’s still pretty chilly out. I don’t feel like planting, but if I don’t, I fear all my daffodil bulbs will die. So I must. I also need to spray the poison ivy and hasted its demise. Woe is me!!! <dramatic pose of despair>
Still page one.
Herself loved Gatekeeper; just under 30 rides or so. Cedar Point treated us like royalty Thursday turning the ride on around 4:15 AM ---- her first ride was 5:07. Later in the day it was basically walk on. But this was Media Day and just us “usual suspects” were there. Come Saturday and General Public the wait was more like 3-4 hours. Some are claiming 6 hour waits but I’m calling bullshit on those by a long shot. Cedar Point is known for lines and if you have but one day to spend there, break out the extra $75 or so and get the FastPass that lets you into a short line for all the coasters. Or plan on missing a lot of them.
MOOOOOOM it’s best to take off and nuke poison ivy from outer space much like what one does to get rid of kudzu.
Paperirk everywhere! Gettin’ two people started with the same agency this afternoon. There must be an agreement for each person thus two sets of the same paperirk. ICK! I think after all that is done Ima call it a day cause my brain will be definitely fried after all that carryin’ on.
Could be worse I suppose. I don’t have to fight my way through poison ivy, kudzu and Sri Lankan spiders to get it done.
I really feel blurfy this Moanday. At work knitting and reading the Dope.
Mother’s Day was kinda a bust. All I can say is my mom is weird. n/m. deleted whiny mom’s day post.
Would really like to be outside on this beautiful day. It’s going to be near 80 today and near 90 tomorrow. I’m ready for Spring to hang around awhile, but, like Moooom, I believe we will delve directly into another super hot summer last last year.
Oh, and I just realized that the little down arrow next to the thread title takes you directly to the newest unread post… I’ve only been a member since, well a long time.
Weird weather - when I went out, it was drizzly and overcast - you’re supposed to use the poison killer when it’s dry, so that wasn’t going to happen. I took the pots of daffodils out, then brought in the impatiens and the pot from the back deck to plant them. Now that I’ve cleaned up from that, the sun is out. But it’s also lunch time. So, do I eat or take advantage of the sun to do my spraying and planting.
Stoopit weather.
Ooh, sounds like you have the same one I have!
Lotls now both in the same tank, though separated- they both seem to be scared of each other, so they’ll probably be OK when let in together. That is a good thing- I like my pets to have all their limbs.
By the way, if your summer gets too scorching, feel free to send some sun over this way- I think we might need it!
I just opened an icy-cold Mexican Coca-Cola. You may now envy me. Mmmmm

Hi, people.
Earlier this spring, I voluntarily resigned from a job that was killing me due to stress to take a chance at a lower stress job. (I’d be out on disability if I had stayed; it was that bad.) The job was with a company where I knew all the material, I knew some of the players, and was literally the best/brightest in the training class. It was for a project where, at projects end, the class would be hired on (I was told). Getting in, I found every other person there had been temping there for years and would get dropped / picked up to avoid the 6 month rule. In other words, No One was getting hired.
The trainer said the opposite… Sure people were getting hired; just do the job the way they want and you’ll be fine. Then, over a week or so, they started walking people to the door and releasing them. Today, I and another employee (who I thought was 2nd in the class) got walked to the door.
I took a risk. I lost. Still, I’m not sure that I can file for unemployment. I’m not sure if Careerbuilder, Monster, LinkedIn, Glassdoor or any of the other on-line application places even work. Its been a really hard day but I want to keep it together & try to see this as an opportunity somehow.
Job leads gratefully accepted: please PM me.
Not sure how I break this to my kids…
Hi, Jynx -
I have a full subscription to consumer reports online if’n you want a snapshot of the washer(s) you’re looking at. Though not perfect by any means, I’ve found CU over the years to be pretty much spot-on with respect to most of their suggestions. Yes, some of the testing means are a little overwrought sometimes. Really, I mean who poops out ping-pong balls, anyway? (That was in the toilet testing section under ‘flushability’).
If you’re interested, I’ll run the numbers for you and snip it to a file so you can peruse at your leisure. If e-mail is not an option, and I understand if not, I think we have here at the Dope an album option I can place a snipped pic in where it can be seen by other members (assuming I build it in correctly).
Let me know.
Also, still cold!
I’m actually going to have to set a small fire during the day today if I don’t want the kiddos whining and the doggies all up in my lap all day (they’re not lap dogs…).
Sheesh.
Not to worry, we’ll be ranting about the heat soon enough, I suspect.
I love those. Official authetigenuine ticket to pure cane sugar, right there.
The difference is noticeable.
HFCS just doesn’t have the same bite that cane sugar does.
Long day is long…
It’s cold in here!
I finally had to close the window.
Got my call done to Social Security.
The lady was nice, told me she has no idea why they do things the way they do.
I added the Sah-kid to my checking account but they decided they are going to send him checks instead of direct deposit.
Had to call the bank to change the type of checking we have because now that they stopped the direct deposit I would have to start paying a service charge.
Now I’m hungry and sleepy.
I still need to go to the store and have to figure out how much money I owe my mother.
Clean the dogs ear, which is always so much fun.
Wash dishes, gather up all the laundry for tomorrow, clean the bathroom because nobody else ever seems to notice the dust that collects where the tile meets the wall and in the grooves of the doors. My bedroom needs a good dusting as well
and then on to irk.
Aw, man, how awful! Where are you and what do you do? That might make it easier for folks to send leads your way. Meanwhile, good thoughts coming your way…
I just spent about 90 minutes mucking about in the garden. I planted 2 big potsful of daffodils. I divided them into clumps of 4-5 bulbs each and spread them over the hill. I also transplanted a naked lady amaryllis and a clump of day lilies that I divided into 2 clumps. The sprinkler is running now and I’m taking a breather.
I’ve got a cornish game hen thawing for supper, and I’m going to try a new recipe for mushroom risotto. Oh yeah, and the laundry has to come it. Busy busy day here…
