Good news about GilaMonster’sHubby; still keeping those in Haiti in my prayers, though. So awful and sad.
{{{{{{{{{kai}}}}}}}}}}}; good to hear from you, and you’re in my thoughts also.
We had beef-mushroom-barley stew for dinner tonight, and it was yummerific! My daughter made it in the crock pot today, with my instructions. Crock pots are such lovely cooking aids!
Hope BooFae found something to do tonight - sorry about all the snow in the UK. Mmmms, hope your tushie isn’t hurtin’ too much, and hope that the concierge gets that ice and snow cleaned up!
Welp, my car won’t start this morning… fix-it guy is supposed to arrive within an hour.
In the meanwhile I am (ostensibly at least) working from home – and surfing the Dope. A little. :o
**Pie **-- good news about the Mission; hope they can get out of there soonest! I’ll repeat others’ sentiments about the fate of everybody in Haiti, though
Kai!! ((grope)). Hope you feel better, soon (and you really should be getting treated for the root causes of your various pains and ailments.)
Car guy just called. About one hour from now he’ll be here. Thankfully, it’s a Leaser, so my employer will be footing the bill – I just have to wait!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienated! I’m headed out the door in a few to go get some stuff done. Decided I’d go a little earlier as opposed to stayin’ a little later.
Feel better soon, Kai! I have no idea what the Scots call turnips, I don’t think they acknowledge the existence of such things. We always have the swede/turnip argument when I mention swede to 'im indoors, and last night the veg man brought me a turnip in my organic box. I quite happily said, “Look, I’ve got a proper turnip!” but he didn’t say anything so I guess he doesn’t really know what to call it.
Herbs, we stayed in last night. I cooked, watched some crap telly and that was about it. I got an earlier night than usual for a Wednesday so that was enough of a bonus for me.
We’re off to London for the weekend so I’m hoping the travel situation has improved by then, there’s nothing quite like being stuck for hours on a Virgin train…
Blurf. Getting ready to go to work. My fever broke last night, so it’s back on the chain gang for me.
Remind me to call the maintenance people. Not only is the handle on the toilet broken, but the drain in the sink got stuck down as I was washing my face this morning and it won’t come back up. Apparently I’m the only one who knows how to call maintenance to come fix the (shared) bathroom.
And a happy Thursday to all! (Doesn’t that just kill the grump buzz???)
noonie, better that the car won’t start in your own drive than sommers else, no?
We should take some kind of a poll to find out how many dopers experience some form of chronic pain. I am nearing the one-year mark with my stiff neck.
bobbio, nothing is sexier than a guy in uniform.
swampy, what mom said.
Finally warming up…some. Did I say I was taking tomorrow off? Well I am.
What was going on last night? I had a big meltdown at home, ended up in tears. I’m just overwhelmed. Too many long days at work, too many deadlines, too much stress, too many little things eating up my free time at home (new PT exercises to try to end my chronic pain for example), too little time to relax and knit. Oh and PMS to boot. Yippee. Can we just end this week now 'cause it seems like it was a really sucky one for a lot of us.
I did have an ergonomic assessment at work yesterday and made some changes to my desk/chair. Hopefully that, too, will help with my back/shoulder pain. I’m too young for chronic pain! I AM going to make it go away. (Insert determined smiley here)
Hope Mr. GilaMonster can get home soon. Glad he’s ok.
It promises to be an exciting evening in Mahnaville. I’m popping down to The Art Star’s condo after work to check in on the godkittens while Art Star and hubby are out of town (we trade catsitting duties with them… there’s an ongoing joke that we’re godparents to their cats and vice-versa). After that, I’ll meet up with The Boy for some dinner, and then onwards to our favourite watering hole for drinks with Charming Mofo and his new ladyfriend.
Unfortunately, I still have to survive six hours of pretending to be productive between now and then… sigh. I know it’s bad when I’m practically begging for even the most mundane and brainless work, because I’m just bored of looking at the same websites over and over again.
I’d bet a virtual month’s salary that the list would be longer than those who don’t suffer from chronic pain.
I’m nearing 12 years after an accident at work involving a broken stair railing gave me a handful of herniated cervical discs. They’ve caused me nothing but trouble ever since.
Then of course, there’s the dilapidated lumbar discs that caused me to need the discectomy last year. All of the recent moving of boxes and furniture has done nothing to help it, and the piece of crap masquerading as a chair at work also doesn’t help. The ergonomic people move at a very slow pace…
I am now the proud owner of my first piece of nursery school art! Other than that, my evening is not relaxing, as someone had a very late afternoon nap (4:30pm to 5:15pm) so is not even close to tired enough for bed, even though it’s after 8:30pm now!
Rosie’s sig to all. I wil catch up on the weekend!
Health insurance is a stacked deck where the house gets to cheat, deal seconds, and change the rules mid-deal. I ain’t loving any kind of health insurance right now.
On the good side, got to check out some of the added images to the rogues gallery. Nice to see Dog and Swampy and everyone else. You all mostly look about what I would have pictured.
Better yet – the car is owned and maintained by my employer, so I didn’t even have to shell out for the new battery
Maintenance Guy arrived within about 75 minutes of my call, too, which is good. And I was “on the clock” all the time, as well, since I can punch in from home (and work from home, which I did!)
::Knocks on wood:: I’m sure I’ll start feeling Old Age any time now, but so far so good…
Hugs to all those in pain, sick or just mad at the world. I know how you feel!
**Dotty **-- nice artwork! Some great pictures of Noor on that page, as well!
(BTW, I spell it “Nur” Every. Single. Time then remember you spell it Noor and change it… :o)
Howdy Y’all! Three down and only two to go! WOOHOO!!!
dotty HRH is a budding artiste! The added sparkles are nuttin’ but artistic genyoose!
I guess I’m lucky. The only pains I seem to suffer are those that come with gettin’ to be long in the tooth. Nuttin’ that needs pain meds, therapy and such. Yet.
Dindin tonight shall be leftovers. Da bear is clearin’ the fridge and heatin’ up any and all leftovers. If’n it don’t get et tonight it goes away for good. Sometimes that can be some good eatin’.
Like **swampy **(can’t believe he and I are alike!!) I have no chronic pains, apart from Scruffy at 5 in the morning… My fingers sometimes get stiff and achy, and my knees are occasionally contrary, but all things considered, I do OK.
I’ve got a big pot of veggie beef soup simmerin’ and a loaf of white bread in the bread machine - it comes out in about 6 minutes. Supper will be yum. Which is good, 'cause I’s hongree.
Glad tomorrow is Friday and Monday is a holiday. I believe I deserve a long weekend.
