GAH! I’m getting tired of everything smelling like my sister- and brother-in-law’s garage where they keep their turnouts. Some folks might think it smells like danger and excitement, but to me, it just smells like smoke.
Update on T-Boned Neighbor. I drove him over to the bank and grocery store last night. His van is totaled, and the worse insult is that he’d just filled the tank, so in addition to being out a van, he’s out about $100 worth of gas.
And, in just slightly more momentous news, we’re getting married on Saturday. Just a simple “Do you? … Do you? You are.”

What are turnouts and why are they kept in garages and why do they smell?
And you thought you’d slip in that bit about the wedding, eh? well, you’re not getting away with that, Missy. No sir–we want backstory, pics, doves to be released when you say I do and a 7 course meal at the reception. Make it snappy; chop chop!
(and congrats, btw).

They’re firefighter’s gear - the fire-resistant pants and coat and associated protective hoo-has. They’re kept outside because they’ve been inside of fires and smell accordingly.
Muppet I further suggest a dead wet trout that’s been left out in the sun a few days.
I’m done work! YAY!!! Also it’s been rainin’ and there may be thunderboomers movin’ in. YAY!!! Also ol’ y’all know who says he’s stayin’ the night. YAY!!!
I meant to add- taxi, I know a reasonable amount about Catholicism and some about the Orthodox, and I promise not to get all huffy. Probably. Please feel free to ask me questions.

You forgot the stale sweat component on the inside.
I had a job interview yesterday. This morning I was offered the job, and I start on Monday.
Yippeeeeeeeee! I’ll have only been out of work for 3 weeks at that point, the shortest time between gigs I’ve ever had. This is a try-before-you-buy deal; 1099 contract for 3 months with a convert to employee if we’re all happy with each other. It’s gonna be tough, because they’ve never had a writer before, but I get to set things up from scratch and, hopefully, RIGHT, from the beginning.
snoopy dances
And now to lunch, and then unpacking and setting up the new printer that arrived about half an hour ago. Personal multi-function color laser baaaaybeeeeee!
Sounds like we’ve got a decent share of good news today, from **rigs ** and **gotti ** and Morgyn! YAY!! <flinging confetti with wild and reckless abandon>
Nothing exciting going on here, so I may do a load of laundry - woo and hoo.
Yay for Morgyn for getting a job! throws a handful of w00ts into the air That’s a pretty sweet deal you landed for yourself - isn’t it so much nicer to walk in with a clean slate and set up things the way you like them, rather than constantly being reminded “but so-and-so never did it like that”.
And yay **gotti ** and DH for the impending nuptials. What took you so long? (I keeed, I keeed).
<Snoopy dances> way to be on the new job there, Morgyn!
My brownies turned quite nice–they’re S’Mores Brownies from Cook’s Illustrated (which I canceled my sub to because the editor is such a poor writer and took the folksy New Englander to ridiculous heights, but I digress).
Great Wheel release is out and requests for pics are rolling in. What part of “images are available for download until July 8 at yaddayadda @yadda.com” can’t you figure out, foo!!
Yay **gotti **and DH!! What happened to the plans for the fall wedding though?
Yay morg!
I just accidentally double clicked on something in a file I was working on and now it’s tied up that program trying to do… something. I hate when I click on something I didn’t mean to and then can’t stop whatever it starts doing. Grrr.
I don’t really know what I want to know… I guess at this point it’s more just about what’s different between Catholicism and Protestantism, particularly the Methodist Church I’m used to. I’ve been to two Catholic weddings, and it’s very ritualistic compared to what I’m used to but other than that I don’t even know enough to ask questions!
LiLi, I’m not going to be around much this evening so if you reply and then don’t hear back from me for a while, I’m not ignoring you!
And if anyone else wants to share things about your religious traditions/beliefs/doctrine, even if you think it’s mainstream stuff that everyone knows, everyone probably doesn’t know it and it could be really interesting.
I have a yay of my own – Papa Tigs has finally, after several years of trying, succeeded in arranging his work hours so that he can get into a carpool! He actually helped set it up last year but at that point couldn’t switch his hours enough to get into it himself. But things at work have changed enough that he can finally join it. So he’ll only be driving one day out of four! YAY! Considering it’s 30 miles each way to work, that is some serious savings on gas! YAY!
It took most of the afternoon, but we have working phones again. The FIOS techs had done all kinds of funky stuff when hooking up the phone lines into the house to the FIOS line so we could have digital phone. Poor KtAR has been running in and out and climbing up and down into the attic for a couple of hours, but we finally have dial tones on all phones. And a clear dryer vent pipe. We will definitely be calling KtAR again any time we need work done, that’s for sure!
